  1. I don't ever see my UPS guy - he always delviers when I'm at work (except for Wednesday night, when he delivered at like 7:30pm). I have felt really guilty about it lately, though. I think he's come by the house at least one day every week for the past 2 months.... if not more.
  2. I have a show tomorrow (yay!) and I'm crashing right afterwards. I've been busy prepping and between that and work, getting no sleep. On Sunday I'm going to take stock (pun intended) and figure out what I need to make for our office craft fair on the 12th. Also need to make more B&B stuff for the website which will go live on Saturday (hubby's been working hard on that one). As for candles -- probably some mulberry - I need a fall fruity, am tired of pine trees.
  3. Good to know, MA. They DO do pick up... which would work great for me. I will have to check them out and try some of their products. Who knows, if I like them maybe I'll do a product co-op.
  4. You can melt and re-melt all you want -- as long as you don't let the wax get too hot (can't remember what too hot is, but I set my fryer to 200F and that's fine).
  5. If you're open to still mixing your own blend, you can try the 4630 instead of the 4627. It comes in slabs and is pretty easy to cut and measure. Doesn't break in a pillow case like some paraffin ( no anger management opportunities) but it cuts well with a utility knife. I mix up a 75/25 blend with GB415 and 4630 -- it works for me. Is it perfect? Of course not, but I can pour a little warmer than straight soy and I rarely get frosting. Cracking, yes, but that's mostly because I'm a bit of an impatient chandler.
  6. 4 at a time -- usually all in the same scent to test wicking.
  7. My daughter (4 years old) loves BCN's Cotton Candy -- I have it made up for her in a shower gel and just ordered more so I can make a whole set of things in that fragrance. How about strawberry -- NG's Fresh Strawberry smells like strawberry gum - I renamed it Little Girl's Kisses and people pick up the products just because of the name.
  8. I think Scented has tried every FO out there - especially the Patch ones.
  9. Saw their link in the supplier by state thread.... being in Colorado the will call pickup is a real draw (no shipping costs - yay!). Website is http://coloradoorganics.net/index.asp I'm very interested in any EO reviews -- check out those prices! I about dropped my jaw. And the lip balm tubes are cheaper than any other place I've seen. Makes me wonder what I'm missing..... :undecided
  10. I'm so excited for you! I'll set my TiVo to record and hope for a gliimpse
  11. It may seem like a lot to juggle both (and it is) but who knows -- you may find that it super-organizes your life! (it has for me - get home from work, do dishes, make candles or B&B stuff in the evenings). I wish you much, much luck and as much sleep as you can manage.
  12. God I love that color - wish I could get that in soy.
  13. Those look really neat! Bubble bars, eh? (I have no time to figure out how to make those but they look like fun..... lol!)
  14. Sugar Scrubs (highest priority to begin before the end of the year) Hand Salve? or Cuticle Cream (a la Bert's Bees) Bath soaks - don't know what kind, yet I really want to play around with some Muds, too (expensive mud pies are on the horizon - lol!) And (gasp!) I may start playing around with candle pillars again. I kind of miss them. You're a lot braver or ambitious doing the CP thing -- if I ever want to add handmade soap to my business, I'll be contacting someone on here to wholesale from! I forsee lots of money leaving my bank account in the near future......
  15. I second, third and fourth FOH's Sensual Secrets. This is my 100%, no question favorite FO and is the "signature" scent for my small and growing line. I just purchased a full pound because I know I'll use it all up in no time! (on myself if not my customers )
  16. I know the feeling! But for me it's not math -- it's when I write a word and I have to study it for awhile before I'm sure it's spelled right.
  17. You're right. I calculated three times just to make sure.
  18. My husband caught the "top of the head" thing -- I think you have to be looking for that exactly to see it, but..... some people will. He suggested coloring the middle of the flower a page yellow? Don't know how that would go with your color scheme. Really like the page, by the way!
  19. Tall Blonde -- I ran your numbers in comparison to mine and they look pretty similar. My lotion tends to be a touch on the thick side - sqeezable but not runny. I use a touch more cornstarch (about 1.5%) but the other numbers look pretty close. For your 14% oils and butters what's the breakdown of your oils and butters? Mine is 35% butters and 65% oils. I don't use the wheat protein or sodium lactate, so I don't have any idea how those are affecting the consistency (sorry). The only other suggestion / question is how long are you blending? I can control the thickness of my emulsion (to a certain extent) based on how long I use the stick blender.
  20. I'm not sure whether to laugh or scream - I'm still not done with Christmas. For what it's worth, NG's Victorian Rose is knock your socks off strong. Maybe too strong, even - I can get a head rush just from the cold throw off of a 4-pack of tealights.
  21. Was it a glass jar? Maybe, could be possible if there was a flaw in the jar. Could have started to crack (miniscule) while burning and then the temperature difference from going to warm/hot from cold.
  22. You said it -- the weather is just a cop out. I think it comes down to reputation and I would go as well. What you can do is get in contact with the show organizer, reassure them that you will be attending, but ask if they anticipate continuing if it starts to pour, lightning, etc... On the bright side -- the weather may make other vendors skip out, which could potentially be more traffic for you!
  23. Then there's the lick your fingers and pinch together for the sizzle method. (I personally don't try that one myself -- too afraid of getting burned - *cough* LOL)
  24. I know.... doesn't it make you squirm a little bit, just imagining.....
