  1. I made up my scrub today - this is a super thick scrub! I have decided that I like the extra creamy texture - no chance of the oils separating out of this. Scent is Bossa Nova - my husband said it reminds him a little of lemon curd. I can't wait for feedback from the swap. Anyways, once I label these puppies they will be ready to go! I also made a small batch of Bunny's Bath Melts, too. Didn't add any FO and used a flexible ice cube tray (heart shaped) for the mold. Had to take a bath tonight to test them out. They weigh out at 0.6 oz which was perfect for my tub! I took the picture right after taking the container out of the freezer, hence the frost on the sides.
  2. just a thought -- has anyone ever tried teflon tape with them?
  3. Vio -- I think you already know the answer. Not because I'm an insurance nazi because I'm not -- although it will be contrary to a lot of members' opinions, I think insurance is a personal thing - how much risk a person is willing to take. I started to make (and sell) candles before getting insurance -- but that was a personal choice that felt right to me. I tested myself and used some of my good friends to test for me before I began to sell (and still before insurance). That will horrify some people, I know! Ultimately if it doesn't feel right to you then get insurance before you have someone else test.
  4. Sugar Scrub! It's cooling in the bowl right now.... It's my contribution for the Southern Soapers swap. Still need to try for some bath melts, too. Didn't get to them last weeked.
  5. Be safe -- the entire amount, as it is all intermingled in the finished product. (uniform potential for growing nasties through the entire amount)
  6. I know I ordered right after Christmas - saw that the store was supposed to be closed and didn't expect to see anything (other than the standard purchse e-mail) until after the New Year. Lo and behold I got a shipping notification like the day after and my stuff got here on 1/2. I ordered some stuff for making an aftershave balm for my hubby and got some other stuff, too. I really, really like them!
  7. I know I'd be willing to help out -- and as I live close to Peak's I just do a will call pickup from them anyways, so that would cut down on shipping charges some more -- only shipping from me to wherever. cindy -- I haven't gotten to the classies section yet, but I think it was suggested before about having one thread dedicated to foreign requests? Those who are "enablers" can also post their regular suppliers as well so members could kind of anticipate who generally orders from where.
  8. I want to try Hyacinth from Peaks. Was browsing around and it struck my interest. :smiley2:
  9. Ummm some French Vanilla Amber (for V-day), maybe try my hand at some of Bunny's Bath Melts and stock some scents for the website. :rolleyes2 I can't play with new scents until I do that.
  10. Truthfully I think I measured around the heating element when I first got it and haven't measured since. Can't remember what the temp measured either (sorry -- realize no help there). Maybe the models are slightly different or something - because I know I've kept my fryer on for hours and never had my wax burn/overheat yet. (crosses fingers)
  11. I guess the way I look at it is that palm is a specialty wax, to me. Market or list them as such and that justifies the price difference if you end up with two lists. Whether it's better or not, you can create the perception that it's a more valuable item and prices are just about perceived and accepted values, after all.
  12. I make up my own blend - 75% GB 415 and 25% 4630. It's probably fairly similar to commercial 70/30 blends, but because I'm close to Peak's and can get both the 415 and 4630 without shipping that's what I use.... (and I think better in fourths than 70/30 - LOL).
  13. Sorry -- should have give more detail. I have the Masterbuilt digital stainless - set it to 200 degrees (the lowest setting) and have never had a problem with overheating. I think it does a wonderful job at heating evenly. And because of where the spigot is I don't run the risk of exposing the heating element. Yes you do pour from the spigot / valve, whatever you want to call it.
  14. Never used the Presto Pots but I love, love, love my turkey fryer (MasterBuilt).
  15. I'd bet on it being the Beeswax as well -- seem to recall a discussion about lack of success getting a lotion emulsified with only beeswax. I tried it once and the lotion was okay when it was warm but started to separate shortly after. Good luck!
  16. candlebean - thank you for the candlescience link! I had thought about red tealight cups (or colored ones in general) but with a gazillion suppliers bookmarked, sometimes I just lose the motivation to look through every single one. Candlescience isn't one of my regulars so I don't know if I would have made it there on my own.
  17. Holy crap! Check out these minimums.... • Tea Light Cups: 40,000 cups • Maxi-Lite Cups: 12,000 cups • Votive Cups: 7,500 cups I was thinking about the red one for Valentine's, but at that quantity.... *faint* Co-op, anyone?
  18. I poured some testers of this because I had bought the FO awhile ago but never poured anything with it. The scent did surprise me a bit -- thought it would be a little more fruity but ended up more floral, but good floral. It's turning out that I'm having to wick up with this FO - and actually may end up having to change over from CD's to ECO's with this one and I was curious as to other people's experiences with this FO. Are you having to wick up as well? I'm using a custom blend of 415 and 4630 (75/25 ratio).
  19. Chickie -- I'd vote to keep them because they are a great size for trying out -- but maybe what you could do is sell one of the larger containers empty? Like a 2oz size? When I started with minerals I bought one large size and then multiple smaller testers and today I just blend the testers in the larger size container because it worked better. Alternatively, you could just keep the small sizes in baggies maybe and include an empty larger size for the same purpose..... (I think I just went both ways on my vote! ) ETA -- Chickie didn't the banner in your signature used to link to the website? I can't get it to work anymore ;-( I've been browsing - LOL! When my current supply runs out I think I'll be coming your way.
  20. Had to bump this thread up and comment on how WONDERFUL this recipe is! Thank you so much for posting it, e! I made some last night and it turned out fab! Creamy and scrubby - I impressed myself, LOL! Also thanks for the warning about the texture -- if you hadn't said that I would have worried about the consistency because it didn't get thick and creamy until a few hours after "birth." Have you found that this holds up well over time? For maybe a few months? I'm going to let the batch I just made sit for awhile to see, but am curious about your experience with it.
  21. Lotion. Lots of lotion! Plus pouring a lot of candle testers -- I'm re-wicking some of my containers and pouring some new scents, so have to test those out. It may sound like work but oh my gosh it will be a welcome break from my day job!
