Michi
oh crap, that's the brand that my grocery store carries, and although I haven't even attempted to make cp soap yet, I have bought some lye and other ingredients, I wonder if I should stock up on what they have over there then?? Mo money is what I really need! LOL
Glowlite
Eeek better go stock up. Thanks for the info!
MichelleOH
AAAAAAAHHHHH!! I'm running to LOWES:p
Lorrie
But we will be able to purchase lye from places online right? It just won't be red devil lye?
vogt0047
Red devil issued a statement a few weeks ago saying that many of their outlets had stopped carrying it due to liability issues. It no long sold as well as they needed to continue making it, and it is no longer for sale to distributors as of Sept 1st. This will not interrupt our supply of lye as we purchase from bulk manufacturers. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me. Sara
I didn't even wanna click on this topic 'cause I just KNEW what it was going to say. I'm SO bummed!! I'm one who hesitates to buy lye in bulk (wuss maybe). I like my wee, contained lye canisters. Less chance for mess. Boo hoo.
foxhill
I went to Kroger last month and bought all they had left and went I went in last week this still hadn't restocked so I figured something was up. I guess I better get to Lowe's before they run out too. I really don't use enough to buy in bulk.
von691
I bought the last can at my store too. But the hardware still has some. So I will stock up and have some for a little while.
TexasBrat
If you stock up doesn't the lye go bad after a bit?I never have bought Red Devil I just get mine from TDF.
Bunny
Lye lasts for years, as long as you keep it away from humidity.
SatinDucky
I see a lye co-op in the making....LOL
Meridith
This is the whole reason why Lowes no longer carries it. Our Lowes was completely out by the time I heard about this. Darn it.
Blest2BAmerican
Eek! I think Robin posted a couple of places that we can order from online. Can you post again Robin? Thanks!
Jeana
So we won't be able to get small quantities anymore, only bulk? How many oz is considered bulk? Great one more thing to pay shipping on:angry2: Is this suppose to reflect in our prices to the customers?
Landa
I see a lye co-op in the making....LOLSeriously. I am going to check out the Kroger's here tmw
elle110
Just went to our super wal-mart and it is already gone there, completely wiped out. I have a 3 day show this weekend, hope I can sneak away tomorrow and find some to stock up on.And yes, I am bummed about having to buy onlline and pay shipping. I am going to try some local plumbers and pool supplies etc.I will let you know if I find some trade type of people that have it and willing to sell.Michelle
MarieJeanette
I'm so glad I saw this thread today! Wouldn't you know it, I had just decided over the past week after much research and study to finally take the plunge and make some CP soap, too. I didn't have to read the thread too far before I decided to drop everything and make a desparate run down to Ace Hardware and Lowe's. I bought 6 bottles of it. I could have bought more as there was still some more left on the shelf, but as this CP stuff is all new to me and I don't even know how l'll like doing it, I decided to leave the rest for any other desparate soaper who was in an even more desparate predicament over it than me. Bummer!MarieJeanette

RobinInOR
Yes, let's hope she can keep up with demand You have to buy 10 pounds at a time, but it's packaged in 2# bags, and it really *is* cheaper than buying it at your store. Just not as convenient when you're starting out.
