First of all I did not create this look from the top of my head. I have seen others do it and I decided that i wanted to try it too. It seems that tart warmers are becoming more and more popular and  I feel that the people in the tart warmer field need NOT be left out from buying such wonderful product from us....right guys? :) Of course,  I will NEVER stop making candles, but we gotta stray off the beaten path once in a while to create something new (which always makes us happy and smile and the customer definitely is happy and smiles! :) These are a little bit time consuming, but so worth it. Offering your customers ......instead of just one scent (of course we still need to offer this option) you can offer them a multi scented tart where they can smell 2 , 3 or 4 delectable, compatible and wonderful scents all at once which is ALWAYS a good thing.  I made 3 and 4 lb batches each and of course you can make as small of batch as you want. :) These are SO FUN to make AND the scent combinations are ENDLESS, so making these should NEVER be boring. :)

The green/yellow melts above are: Green Apple (Lime) (FB) chunks and Pina Colada overpour (Yellow) (Cajun's...even though I try everyone else's Cajun's is the best!) . Awesome scent!

The purple/orange/white melts are : Sweet Berrylicious chunks (Purple) (FB), Tangerine Dream chunks(TCS) You GOTTA try...so nice! (Orange) and Marshmallow Madness overpour...anyone looking for a nice marshmallow? (Lone Star)

The purple/pink/blue/tannish melts are: Sweet Berrylicious chunks (Purple) (FB), ) Pink AND Blue chunks (Cotton Candy...once again Cajun's has the best...smells like the pink cotton candy) and Sugar Cookie Royale overpour (FB) ....very nice! (FB)

The dark orange pumpkin/tannish brown/off white melts are: Pumpkin Cheesecake chunks (BCN)....the BEST cheesecake...yummm! :) , Pumpkin Sugared Donut chunks (FB)...very nice! , Pumpkin Pecan Waffle overpour (TCS)...just AWESOME...you all need to try this!

The yellow/tan/butterscotch/yellowish melts are: Buttercream Crunch chunks (Cajun), Butterscotch Brulee chunks (TCS) , Banana chunks (FB) and Birthday Cake overpour (Peak's.....THE BEST!) :) Yummm!

The.....and saving this one for last... ....this is awesome guys...I'm telling ya....

The pink/green/white chunks are Pinks Sands chunks (FB) (AWESOME!), Honeydew Melon chunks (Cajun's once again has the best one!) , and Vanilla Ice Cream overpour (FB) this is nice guys!!!

Anyhow, I am planning on doing all kinds of blends now that I see how well these scents all blend and smell together. I am doing a Christmas Tree, Mistletoe and Fireside blend. Leather, Whiskey (someone else today that had bought just a plain whiskey candle loves it), Tobacco and Barn Wood blend, a Pink Sands, Pink Sugar and Pure Seduction (FB) and smells divine too! , a Lemon, Tangerine Dream and Margarita Lime blend , a peppermint, spearmint and Vanilla Bean Noel blend, a strawberry, banana, taffy blend, a strawberry & Margarita Lime blend, a Carribean Teakwood, Leather and Barn Wood blend and on and on and on. The list is never ending! I sure hope you all try this...your customers will LOVE you!

Thanks Belinda!  I package them in the 1/2 lb and 1 lb window bags from Nashville Wraps. I will take a pic here within the next couple days and show you how it looks. :) This chunk method can also be used in jars (I forgot to say) and I am going to offer those also. :) But also, if anyone has been wanting to tread the fragrance blending waters, this is also a really nice way to start and get your feet wet in blending. Just lots of great things about this method. :)

Thank you dear....BUT you are so talented Trappeur!!! Get to making some of these and take these to your accounts right now girl....get em hooked and get those orders! Blend of Red Chunks (Mac Apple), Lime Green Chunks (Green Apple) and  overpour with tan or off white colored wax in Ooey Gooey Caramel! :) Just make your chunks in 2, 3 or 4 scents and overpour with another. It is a win..win! :) I tell ya....you could even do a Pink chunk with the Pink Sands, a Red Chunk in the Mac Apple and a Lime Chunk in the Green Apple and do a light yellow overpour in a yellow cake scent...that would be the bomb or overpour them with Pomegranate OR Cotton Candy OR Vanilla Ice Cream OR Cream Brulee! Do light blue in Peppermint chunks, light green in Spearmint and overpour with a white scent in Vanilla or Vanilla Ice Cream or Cream Brulee....you can do it!

I will throw up a pic of how I package these cuties on here in just a little bit. :)

Puma, do you make your chunks from the same wax as the over pour? And if you don't mind me asking, how do you make the chunks? I've poured into a cookie sheet before and cut them before they got really hard. They just look so cute! And I LOVE tarts in a brown bakery bag with a window. I use those too when I do shaped tarts and brittle, but I really want to do the chunky ones one day. You've inspired me!

HI Belinda...Yes I do use all of the same wax for both the chunks and overpour. Now when I do this in the jars (and I will :)  ) I will OVERPOUR these chunks with container wax.  Let me tell ya what I use and if you want me to take a picture I will. (the aluminum pans look like they have been put through a battle, but that's ok..hee hee)   I bought like 2 of the 3 or 4 pack of the aluminum pans at Walmart.(you will need several pans so that you can pour several scents of wax at a time and this will save so much time and you won't have to wait so long).....they are like the 8x8 size and I also bought the next largest size too (more like a cake pan size, but not as big as a cake pan). I line them with aluminum foil (bringing the foil up all sides) and then poured the wax in ....when it has solidified and while it is STILL WARM but cuttable without the wax leaking out (about an hour or so?), I carefully peel off the aluminum foil and lay the wax on a LARGE aluminum cookie sheet (from Walmart)  then with the largest spackling knife (spend the money and buy a good one) I could buy from Walmart,  I cut into long slices first and then turned them around and cut into the chunks. When I put the chunks into the pan to create the final product,  I do NOT measure out the different scent chunks....i just go for it and put in equal looking amounts of each wax scented chunks (goes fast this way and you get to see and smell your final product quicker...which is GOOD! :) So anyhow I put the different scented chunks in a pan (lined with alum foil) and overpour...then place a few more (of the extra chunks) on top and THEN I get after those top chunks with a heat gun and melt them into submission....melt the rough edges off the tops of the chunk tops and it makes your chunks look yummier and nicer...did I spell yummier right...oh well if not that is ok, but ya know what I mean. :) When your final product is STILL WARM but solidified, take out of the pan, pull off the aluminum foil...place on your alum cookie pan and cut into the chunk sizes you want with your spackling knife. That is it! Enjoy! :)

I do not think there is any You Tube videos at  all dear. I never looked for any, but I am sure they would be very scare or none.   Listen Girl....if ONLY we could be neighbors!!! :) I would love to have a huge coalition of Craft Server folks in my area! We all would form a huge company where we would have the finest soap makers, B&B product makers, candle makers etc, we would offer a mecca of the finest products that people would love ....we would have a big ole store where people could come in and order what they wanted, have a tour through our production area (showing not too much :) ) ......and we would SO whip the pants off of the big ole candle boys! :) I love that idea! Oh, dream , dream, dream...we are allowed to... for sometimes it does comes true! :)

OHHHH....I WOULD LOVE TO !! I am SO ready!!! :) Hmnmmm.....do your Real Estate buddies know people in this area that would sell and finance our GREAT idea? :)  We would have to plead our case of how we would draw people and money to the area.....eh....it wouldn't be hard. :) I say if Yankee and Kringle can create what they have .......out of humble beginnings in a garage...WE SURE AS HECK CAN!! :) Seriously....there is nothing like this in our area!! It WOULD be a huge draw! If you have a Smart Retailer subscription...you will know as I do that the ONE STABLE FACT ALWAYS GIVEN in that publication is that FRAGRANCE and items with fragrance are ALWAYS popular with people. We LOVE fragrance...people LOVE fragrance....during all special occasions, during all holidays, during all special events, we love fragrance  in our hair, on our bodies, in our soap, in our wash, in our houses, in our clothes dryers, bathrooms, bedrooms, cars, in our lotions, lip balms, in our creams, butters etc.....just everywhere people are. Something like this would just explode with popularity here I believe! The key would be to get all the tour buses full of women scheduled to stop at our store. :) It's a wonderful dream....

Puma, those are gorgeous, of course, like all of your stuff is.

I have this groovy mold (and another just like it only smaller for smaller chunks) that I pour my wax in for chunks. Love them.

Thank you Jcandleattic! I love the idea of using a mold like what you have here too! It sure would save a lot of time! :)

  • 2 weeks later...

I made my first batch of tart chunks. I made a fruit-nut mix and I think it turned out very well. Lining the bake pan made the clean-up process a breeze! I am using a paraffin blend (4625 and 4627). 4627 is a very soft was so I will wait to cut them. The scent throw is amazing! I also made some videos so I can post them on YouTube! I used Nutty Caramel Apple and Vanilla Buttercream Crunch from Just scent.
