  1. Very cute idea I did the baby food jar candles a few weeks ago for my neighbor's shower. I went with Brown Sugar & Fig (since she didn't know what she was having and didn't like Baby Powder scents). It worked out nicely Good luck!
  2. Doin' a *bump* to see if anyone else has suggestions! I did order Snowtop's Country Grove, but I'd like to try some others.....any other ideas?? Thanks guys! D
  3. Can't answer the 1st question, but I 2nd the Peach Jam Cheesecake Delicious!!
  4. I agree with the previous posters. Some scents just last longer than others. I've had the best luck with Peaks scents. JS scents would start out super strong, but fade within hours. I'd suggest just testing scents and see what works for you D
  5. Thank you guys I love Snowtop, I'll definitely give it a try. Heaven...where did you get the Country Kitchen? I appreciate it D
  6. I'm trying to dupe a candle for my neighbor. Her favorite candle is by McCall's...it's called Country Store. Here's the description: Potpourri of rosehips, orange and spices Doesn't sound super complex, but I'm wondering if there's an oil I can use instead of trying to mix my own. I looked at Scent Forum, but no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks guys D
  7. I know you've probably already changed it...but I like the 2nd too Beautiful presentation!
  8. Hi Karen, I tried BCNs Campfire Smoke in paraffin and just couldn't get a HT for the life of me. Haven't tried Peak's Fireside yet (didn't like the OOB smell, and have yet to put it in wax). Let us know what you end up with D
  9. Hey, I'll be your roomie....my "poor house" is to full of FOs I'm out of room.
  10. Awesome Those are pretty dang good for a first try! I'm impressed! Congrats!
  11. Okay, I usually don't post "reviews", but this is one awesome oil! I got a sample last week and thought I'd try it in some tarts. They smelled so good that I plopped one in my warmer after only curing 1 hour (not sure that even qualifies as curing, LOL). That little sucker filled up my entire house (two stories), AND my garage (with the door closed!!). It's lasted a good 2 days. It's a nice strong honey scent with just a touch of floral. Very nice Just thought I'd share (and it's on sale )! D
  12. MaryAnn, you do amazing work Love those!! And adding the recipe is a wonderful touch! Great job!
  13. Welcome Careful....this is just as addicting as B & B!! If you're just starting out with tarts, I agree with the previous posters. Start with a pre-blend wax (like the 4794 mentioned). No additives are needed, it's an easy way to start off. Have fun!
  14. She was having some problems with her email, so she might have to play catch up. Edited to add: If you don't hear from her soon, definitely email her again. Wendy is super nice and you don't want to miss out on the VBN
  15. Beesweet is right. I'm having the same issues in my 10oz apothecary jars. I'm double wicking them and they seem overwicked at the start, then fizzle out mid burn. I've used everything from LX10s-18s..44z..51z and even HTP 83. No luck. I'm still fighting with it! So be sure to burn them all the way down Good luck! Edited to add: The 51z didn't fizzle out, but they had a FMP in about 35 minutes and the jar was HOT! LOL
  16. I posted a similar question a few weeks ago. Here is the thread HTH! http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29632&highlight=lavender+vanilla D
  17. Yup, time to break out the parkas Brrrr.....LOL.
  18. I couldn't get the dang cubes out of the tray. I use container paraffin, but those suckers in the middle of the tray wouldn't budge! It didn't matter how long the trays sat in the freezer, there were always a bunch that refused to pop out. I'd bang the heck out of the trays, and they'd still stick. I like the silicone...it works so much better Not sure how soy would do, but it works nice for paraffin. Good luck! And hey, it's cooling down here! It was only 89 today! Whoo hoo it's winter, LOL!
  19. I had issues with the ice cube trays (even when sprayed with Pam) and I got tired of pouring and cutting up wax chunks...here's the one I bought: http://www.flexiblemolds.com/everything_else.htm It's about halfway down HTH. D
  20. Ditto what Michelle said. I use a hot pad on my scale D
  21. Not sure on the scent...being a female Steeler's fan myself, I personally would go for a foody scent...but that's me, and I tend to lean towards those types anyway For a more manly scent, maybe like a Drakkar would be nice. I would do a half black, half gold container (like pp said, to avoid the bumblebee look). But I had some name suggestions: Steel Curtain Tailgaitin' Champ Big Ben's Blend Okay, some are cheesy...hey, I'm tryin' here Let us know what you decide! I'd love to see some pics! D
  22. I've heard good things about Tennessee Candle Supply's Snickerdoodle. Haven't tried it personally, but it's on my list
  23. You probably have what are called "jump lines". If I pour into a cold container, I get these too. Try heating up your jars before pouring and see if that helps! D
  24. I posted about the pumpkins last week, but couldn't get a picture done (don't ask....I'm digitally challenged LOL. They make super cute candles! Good job!
  25. Hi! One more thing to consider is how long the fragrance lasts. I like my tarts to last 12-15 hours minimum! I've tried some scents that started out super strong...but faded in 5-6 hours Just make sure you're using good FOs! Good luck, and be careful....they're addicting D
