  1. I agree...I thought the same thing, and kept waiting for the conference info to be posted. It's very confusing. I think I googled it and found the actual Soap and Candle conference site. Got it bookmarked. And no worries, Glo...I would've hunted you down and let ya know eventually
  2. No worries, Di And the whole "coconuts popping" thing....weird, LOL. She was trying to be creative I guess (and no, there were no actual coconuts involved). But other than that, the whole conference was wonderful. Great people, wonderful information. Loved it (thank you, Glowlite .
  3. Grama, if you don't mind sharing, where do you get the baskets for the spinner? I would think that normal baskets would slide around on the spinners or possible tip? D
  4. Yup, confusing. Two completely separate events. The lady who is doing the business (Summit) one is the one last year who gave a spiel on packaging your items (actually, the ideas she had were good, but her whole "theme" was a bit confusing...she kept talking about "making your coconuts pop".) LOL. Glowlite...let us know if you're going D
  5. LOL! I didn't go to the reception the night before, not sure if I'll make it this year or not (my dd has a recital, so it depends on what time that gets over and how soon I can get rid of the in-laws Hmmmmmm.......now ya got me thinking...maybe I will just stay the night instead of getting up at the butt crack of dawn to drive up. And yes.....mmmmmm...coooookkkiiiieeees D
  6. I'm going. Would definitely love to meet ya'll I went last year and it was wonderful (although it did manage to fuel my addiction into Bath and Body stuff!). They give out awesome coupons, and WONDERFUL prizes, great info too. I went with Glowlite last year, it was so fun to meet a fellow CT'er Let me know if you guys want to meet up! D
  7. I guess I should have said that they're the ziplock poly pro bags. The sachets are organza bags and are zipped in the poly pro bags. I can totally smell the scent through them.
  8. Hi all! I ordered some poly pro bags from a new supplier. Here's my question. Should you be able to smell the scent through the bag? I've made a ton of sachets and air fresheners and you can totally smell the scent through them. I'm worried they're "sucking" the scent out. Just thought I'd get your opinions before I freak out, LOL. Thanks! D
  9. Have you thought of using: Street names, kids names, pet names, city names, or combining some of each?
  10. You absolutely did the right thing! I ran in to this alot when I sold through a store on Ebay. People complaining they received the wrong size, or the wrong product (even though I TRIPLE checked every single package to make sure everything was correct...I'm anal that way). And like you, I'd offer to send them the right product if they mailed the other back (and I'd pay postage). Almost 99.9% would never email or call again, the other 1% just said, "Oh never mind". LOL. I bet you never hear from him again. Sorry you had to deal with it! D
  11. Tarts seem to be stronger than candles and last longer (and I don't have to worry about flames). Since it will be at my house (Open House), I think the tart warmer is the way to go. And no worries, I won't leave an unscented tart going, LOL.
  12. Thanks guys! I hadn't thought of the scent interferring with other scents (duh). I think I'll put some small tarts in the plug in warmers in the bathrooms, and maybe put a tart warmer by the front door as suggested. I really appreciate all the suggestions! Keep 'em coming
  13. I'm having my first open house in May. I'm trying to decide on what candles and tarts to burn (for ambiance). I was just wondering if there was a type of scent that might encourage customers to shop more I know that apple cinnamon types make a home seem "comfortable", and lavender is "relaxing".....any other thoughts? Just thought I'd get some other opinions Thanks all! D
  14. My area didn't have them. Staples did not have them either I ended up ordering them from a supplier on Ebay.
  15. This is a good site to get a little help: http://www.cbsc.org/ibp/en/index.cfm It's in Canada, but it'll help give you an idea of what's needed. Check out the Small Business Association sites too, they have suggestions on Business Plans also. HTH. D
  16. Thank you guys so much I've downloaded Design Pro from the Avery site and will give that a whirl. My Print Shop has no round label templates at all. And thank you, Dani, for the "if-all-else-fails" LOL. I'm doing these for a friend's wedding (she wanted the 4 oz tins as guest mementos). Man, she owes me, LOL. Thanks again, I'll let you know if I have any luck!
  17. Hi all! These labels are a nightmare, LOL (I've dug through countless threads and still can't seem to get them right!). I'm trying to make the round labels for 4 oz tins. I have a very old version of The Print Shop and it doesn't have the Avery label (I think it's 3294) I need. Trying to do the labels in MS Word is a nightmare. I'm debating purchasing Printmaster (because I could just download it). Does anyone have any suggestions? Or if you use Printmaster, does it have the template for the round labels? The version of Print Shop I have won't let me add any new label templates Any help would be greatly appreciated Thank you so much! D
  18. Thank you Those were my thoughts too, but it's always good to get another's opinion! I appreciate it! D
  19. Hi guys! I'm doing some comparison shopping. I'm looking for deodorized cocoa butter. So far everything is about $10.50 a lb or so. I found one company that has it for only $6.75/lb. Here's the deal: they have two deodorized cocoa butters listed. For a 5lb of "Certified Organic" Deodorized Cocoa Butter it's: $48.95, but for just a 5lb of Deodorized Cocoa Butter, it's $24.50. Is there really that much difference? Of course I'm leaning towards the cheaper version, but I'm wondering if it's going to affect the quality of the product. Any opinions on this? I'd appreciate it Thanks so much! D
  20. Glad I'm not the only one trying to figure this one out Hard to describe, but dang it's good!
  21. Thank you guys I hadn't smelled the pine, not sure I do....I asked my 5 year old what it smelled like...she says...cheese, LOL (it doesn't). Maybe I'll ask a few friends what it reminds them of. It's such different scent!
  22. Steph, it says you can open them with Quattro Pro or Open Office? Not sure if you've got either of those. As far as size goes, if you're ordering fragrance oils, I'd say 16 (as in 16 oz). For candle plates, you might have to actually weigh it (there's only weights to describe size..oz,lb,grams, etc.). I'm not sure how that would work, you could play around with it and see how it does I've only used it for wax and oils and such so far.
  23. Hey guys! Okay, so I poured "This Old House" from Tennesee Candle Supplies. It smells fantastic, however, it smells nothing like it's description: Warm applesauce, hot ginger cookies & out of the oven cinnamon rolls capture your senses for the holiday feast. I don't smell any cinnamon at all, and no ginger either. Maybe a touch of applesauce. I'd love to re-name this guy, but I have absolutely no clue as to what to call it. Heck, I'm having a hard time even describing it, LOL. Has anyone else dealt with this fragrance before? I'd love any thoughts. Thanks so much D
  24. You're very welcome. I'm glad I could contribute
