  1. Well if it wasn't a milk soap, it was the fo. Can't think of any oils that would turn dark.
  2. Lynn is having a pre-buy on BCB, great price, the only catch is it will not arrive for 3 months
  3. For liquids I would recomend select shades or Peacock colors. maybe someone will check in and recomend a supplier

  8. There has been some lenghty discussions on using vinegar. It seems that the reaction between an acid and a base can produce heat and make the burn worse. Flush with water.
  9. I have 2 from old Will. A KD-600 for most everything and a cc-100 for delicate weights
  10. possible that is was the fumes. Rub some shea on the area.
  11. Well, I guess I have to stick ny nose in. I've broke up a lot of cocoa butter (100# in 1 day!) and if there is some magic that will cause it to break up all by itself please let me know!! The last I did required a meat clever and hammer:D
  12. I like to wait a week or 2 before adding much water. Cream soap is a strange animal with a mind of its own. I have some that thins out when its cold, thickens right back when warm.
  13. I have some that is 6 months old, just fine. In fact, it gets better with age.
  14. It's really a matter of preference. Slab molds if you want to get elaborate with textured swirls. Log if you like delicate swirls that blend. Not to say it isn't possible to acheive similar results in both. Personally I like logs, I don't do oven process so they give me a uniform gel. You can use carboard box's lined with trash bags in a pinch for hp or cp, but in the oven you need to be a little more picky. My opinion. Clear as mud now? Oh, I almost forgot Martha molds work.
  15. They would have to be able to withstand temps over 200 degrees. I've seen cp accelerate to the point that steam was coming off it
  16. Seems like I remember someone trying that, don't remember if it caused problems but, it will turn the soap a funky brown. I think??
  17. It shouldn't need a lot, you are trying to offset the water that will get introduced during use, which is a very small percentage. Preservative are used to keep nasties from growing in the water. no water, no bugs. 1% of the oils and butter will be more than adequate.

  21. Ok, I have minimal experience as a chandler, but a lot with B&B. Like Donna I have seen fo instantly vaporize in soap also flavor oils in lip balm. My thought is if you had significant burn off in wax, aside from the vapor cloud, wouldn't there be minute bubbles as the fo deep in the wax vaporized? Although most would not be visible in opaque wax, I would think some should show up in containers on the glass.
