  1. I use 10% shea with no problems. Palm and sodium lactate are the only things that killed FO for me
  2. cyclo and dimethicone was the hottest thing going a few years ago. Modeling industry secret for awhile
  3. If it feels like a lotion, it could is a cream soap, or a syndet with additives
  4. My main recipe has 7 oils (including shea) I talked to several people at the time who had similar problems with palm
  5. I noticed a difference and quit using palm 2 years ago.
  6. I've been doing it for 2 years. It's just one of the things I do to simplify the whole process. My oils are pre-mixed and weighed out, lye solution is pre-mixed. When I need to make soap, I place a container of oils in the micro to melt, weigh out the lye solution, get everything ready. Pour melted oils into soaping bucket and place on the scale, add FO,CMP or other additives and it is ready to go! It takes me less than 10 minutes to make a batch of soap. Adding the FO to the oils lessens the chance that it will be forgotten. If it is a new FO and begins to rice or accelerate you still have time to get it in the mold. It doesn't make any difference in the strength of the fragrance in the finished soap
  7. Any FO with vanilla will turn tan-brown
  8. It all depends on the quality of the fo, I have several premium fo's from IFT that only require 1oz for a 3.5# batch
  9. :undecided I thought co-op's were not allowed unless supplier info was given??
  10. http://www.sagescrit.com I think it is $30 each for bacterial and mold tests
  11. The gunk in your Monoi is bits of gardenia bloom. Some suppliers filter it out, some don't. I like seeing it, lets me know I got the real Mcoy! A tea strainer will get it out
  12. Shea nuts are about the size of a quarter. What you saw was a calabash (gourd) filled with shea butter. Very good marketing trick
  13. The water in CP evaporates. Cream soap has quite a bit of water and should be preserved. The texture will change several times with age, let it "rot" for a month before adding extra water. I have some cream soap that behave strangely, when cold it is thin, at 70 degrees it thickens
  14. FCO is non-staining and has an indefinate shelf life
  15. The "scented" is "Enhanced" even Lynn's. This info is straight from the producers in Tahiti. Regular and enhanced have the same properties as far as skin benefits go. Some suppliers claim that the smell good version has had an additional infusion of Tiarre blooms, sorry it ain't so! It has fragrance added
  16. I add Anise Eo to a liquid soap I make. So I don't see why not
  17. The " Monoi" that everyone loves is "Enhanced" The fragrance is not from the "Tiare" blossom. Some sites and vendors will claim the the good smelling type has been infused twice. That is not the case. True uncut "Monoi" will be tan/ lt brown from the infusion with the Gardenia blooms and unless the vendor filters it, it will have brown sediment (tiny pieces of the gardenia blossoms) "Monoi" is prized for the effects it has on the skin. The "regular" and "enhanced" cost the same. It seems that a lot of people buy it because of the fragrance
  18. Addicting isn't it:laugh2:
  19. Never cared for wearing, but I do enjoy pulling them off:naughty:
  20. My lard LS turned out a beautiful pearlesent(sp)
