  1. Too funny...after all didn't I see dear old Martha Stewart pour wax in seashells and show people how easy it is to make your own candles...and if Martha says so then it has to be true.
  2. Eau de Merveilles by Hermes for B&B
  3. Are they still open? I am looking at one of their dupe for a customer (why can't customers buy what you have in stock?). I am not sure I want to pay $15.00 for a 1 oz bottle of fo. Any must have for B&B if I decide to order.
  4. One of my customers in Canada, just received her order...nothing is right! The sample leaked into the plastic bag. The scent is not the same did I change the formula? She wants the old formula back!!! There is something wrong with her body spray. The scent is the same, same %, no it doesn't smell funky it is the same scent I have been using for years. I'd like to say: No you old bat it is your nose that is not working but what's the point. So, I just issued a full refund so I wouldn't end up with a bunch of crap on my feedbacks. Some days I just wonder why I bother with all this...surely it is not for the money.
  5. Airflow, high ceilings. The scent is there but sometimes it is not where you expect it to be. When we moved into our house a few years ago it took me a while to realize that the airflow was pushing the scent down into the hallway. I stated testing in a large room, with regular height ceiling and closed doors.
  6. I love this one IMO it is an excellent Christmas scent and it sells very well.
  7. JS has one I don't know if it is a dupe for BBW but it is a nice and fairly strong.
  8. Yes, Noël is French for Christmas. I love Vanilla Bean Noël but I really don't get the Noël in it to me is it just a sweet vanilla cookie type.
  9. If your body spray is not alcohol base than it can ship First Class or Priority, certain items can be shipped but Parcel Select (Pump Hair Spray & Nail Polish). Others like real perfume cannot be shipped with the postal service and have to be labeled ORMD with FedEx Ground. When in doubt ask your post office clerk, mine is a source of precious info.
  10. Where online, on your own website or on Etsy? If it is on sites like Etsy with plenty of competition you got to catch the customer's eye first to make them want to look at your tarts. So it is a great picture and pretty packaging. Of course the quality will keep the customers coming back but you got to get them into the front door first. This woman sells a lot of tart melts http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheBathingGarden/sold?ref=shopinfo_sales_leftnav There pretty and catchy.
  11. Pumpkin Spice Latte, Little Black Dress.
  12. This happened to me a lot I would read great reviews on an FO on this side try it and nothing. I remember that JS Caramel Apple took so long to cure in para soy and even then the scent was weak. I would also check the temperature of your wax when you pour your FO. IMO A lot of JS FO are hit or miss, some are great but other just too weak. I never had any problems with BW their Honey Gingerbread worked great in para soy.
  13. Back when I was still making tart melts I remember looking at a was carried by Clarus that might have been similar to what Scentsy uses.
  14. I don't know about their bowl but I couldn't get my tarts to melt either. Their warmers burn at a very low temp which match the low MP of their wax. And for people who have Scentsy warmers it makes the competitors tart melt look like crap because "your tarts won't melt in my Scentsy warmer". No a bad concept! If you have a candy thermometer you can see how hot your burner is.
  15. Of course I already have 200+ scents but I have a Nivea hand cream and I love the scent, does anyone know where I can find a dupe for this one?
  16. For once I can JS has the best. Well worth a try.
  17. When I was still making candles I loved Apple Clove Butter from KY it is a beautiful Fall scent and was strong enough to fill a large room.
  18. Ok this is the last I am going to post about this because I agree with others here that you either get over it or take her to court and I really don't think you've got a case. But I checked some of the commercial license agreements on graphics I bought on Etsy a while back. One reads: "All graphics, once sold or downloaded free of charge, do not become your property." So you may not even be able to copyright your label. Your labels are great and everybody likes them so why don't you just go into label design and bypass all this BS!
  19. I am not trying to pick up a fight but honestly to me copying would be an exact reproduction were customers could not tell yours from hers apart.
  20. When you looked a both side by side it is the same style but they are not alike. http://www.etsy.com/search?q=hot+buttered+popcorn+lip+balm&view_type=gallery&ship_to=US&spelling_corrected=hot+butered+popcorn+lip+balm Again it is the same style but these are not similar. http://www.etsy.com/listing/165619457/cotton-candy-flavored-lip-balm-natural?ref=shop_home_active http://www.etsy.com/listing/153417693/cotton-candy-flavor-lip-balm-natural?ref=shop_home_active&ga_search_query=cotton%2Bcandy I guess this one copied too! http://www.etsy.com/listing/126095186/pina-colada-gourmet-lip-balm-with-cocoa?ref=shop_home_active&ga_search_query=lip%2Bbalm
  21. I don't know where you did your research but I actually spend the $250.00 to sit with a copyright lawyer a few years ago. It doesn't matter what you make if you do not apply for copyright your work is not protected under the law, others can reproduce it if they want. All a court looks at is who owns the copyright on the work. Anyone can buy the same graphics with commercial use permission and make labels, heaven helps us if they seem similar to yours.
  22. Your lawyer friend will tell you that unless your work is copyrighted it is not protected. You could always apply for expedited copyright for each and everyone of your label but it is expensive and I am not sure that you can have your labels copyrighted since none of the graphic were designed by you and are probably already copyrighted. You should ask the person who sold you the graphics. If you had contacted Etsy they would have told you that if you do not hold a copyright or trademark then there is nothing they can do. There is always the good old C&D letter but this person already took the items down when she did not have to. Plus a C&D is only good if the other person buys your bluff and you really intend to sue. Two people buy the same graphics and come up with "almost exactly like" labels does not make it illegal. Maybe not very ethical but not illegal. Nor is it a legal matter plus you only have 255 sales and this person only has 2 sales you could not even claim monetary loss. I see that you only have been on Etsy for a few months after a while you will realize that most of the B&B products are the same base and scent and the wording is pretty much the same for everyone. Same with candles, tart melts the market is saturated. I took a look at some of your listings and I don't know what you mean by "your wording" because I have been in business for 12 years and I have been using some of that wording since I started and other people were already using the same wording back then. I also see that many of your Etsy listings have the words bath and body in them seems to me that is not really your wording either. You may feel betrayed because this person bought from you under false pretense but that is nothing new either.
  23. Similar is not copied. Your labels are great but you buy your graphics from someone who sells graphics on Etsy. You cannot say that someone stole your designs when you do not have the exclusivity on the graphics to start with. Similar, inspired maybe but not illegal. Suzy's Scent Shop, My Scent Shop, The Little Scent Shop, Annie's Scent Shop again similar yes but copied? You sell mineral makeup, I sell mineral makeup we both advertise it the same way and we probably use the same containers too and so do most of the people selling mineral makeup on Etsy. I am sure that if you do an Etsy search for some of "your wording" you are going to have a big surprise. In order to take someone to court you have to prove that this person is deliberately taking business away from you. I have been on the receiving end of this issue many times, I have had my handmade design reproduce, my pictures stolen, my background copied to take my customers away and even then there wasn't much my copyright lawyer could do unless I wanted to sue the person in her own state and spend big bucks.
  24. I have seen this movie before. People steal ideas, designs, pictures, names, you name it they'll steal it. They have this notion that making candles is easy and they are going to make a lot of money. But they are not interested in the hard work, the testing until you get it right so they just produce crap. And customers will not buy a crap candle twice...end of their business.
