  1. It IS a solubilizer, but it's not the same as the Poly-20. I have both of them. The poly leaves the product a milky white, where the modifier leaves a clear result. It also takes triple the amount of them modifier as it does the poly. I like to use the poly for my room sprays as the milky result doesn't matter because I use a blue bottle. I also use more FO in the linen spray, and since the poly 20 is less expensive than the modifier, it's more cost effective.
  2. I dunno. I have only smelled the WSP one, and it's been discontinued.. I might have to get the one from Peaks and compare! I still have a tiny bit left from the WSP I could compare it to..
  3. I wonder if it's anything like the French Vanilla & Amber WSP used to carry! (I used that for the halloween swap) I would love it if it was! I might have to put that on my list!
  4. the modifier doesn't have an INCI name.. well it does, but it's just fragrance.. odd huh? anyways, it's like polysorbate.. except it will leave your product clear. It's from WSP and is called eo/fo modifier. But KS, that confused me also. I considered the FO without the modifier.. so, I added the modifier % separately when making my body spray. I used 2% FO, 6% modifier, 2% glycerine, 1% preservative, and 89% distilled water. So if you use a base, I would use 3% FO, 6% modifier, and 91% base. I could be wrong on my thinking on how to use this, but it has always worked for me.. HTH!
  5. yanno.. I never even thought of that... I do believe it's aluminum... I guess sometimes things don't click until you put them down on paper! haha! Thanks!!
  6. Is it possible to do this? I got the presto for Christmas from my hunny. I told him I still need to get a crockpot to try my hand at HP soap. He thinks I should be able to use the Presto.. Can I? Or will it get too hot? I told him I'd ask the experts here! LOL Thanks much! Laura
  7. I was looking at this website and thought their lotion bases looked pretty good, and prices weren't too bad. But I scrolled down after the descriptions and WOW! I was a little shocked at how they compared themselves to another supplier, and calling their own bases cheap (inexpensive, economical; anything would sound better than calling your orwn product cheap).. I had thought about contacting them to see if they had sample sizes, but I don't know if I would want to order from a company that in my opinion shows bad ethics like that... I dunno...
  8. hmmm.. their prices are a bit higher.. not sure even with the close location their prices will be lower than my other suppliers... darn!
  9. O-M-G!!! I had never seen this company and they are an hour from me!!!!! I pulled up the site to check out their lotion you were talking about and saw they have the same area code as me! This could be a good.. or bad thing! LOL Have you used anything else from them? FO's?
  10. I pretty much gave up on candles for myself... eesh so much work! LOL So I got some tin containers, and am LOVING my wickless candles! Soooo much easier IMO!
  11. oh goodness.. a whole oz of FO in 4oz? Is that super strong? I use the Odor Eliminator from NG and added.. ummm 4ml FO (I think) in a 4oz bottle. I also have made my own base with distilled water, Germaben, poly-20, and FO. I love em!
  12. Awesome thanks!!! I ruined the first batch he gave me and was scared to mess with this one! lol
  13. Same here Candybee. And I love the GMH from WSP so much, so why mess with perfection? lol But, I think when I DO decide to make my own I'll get that try it kit from Lotioncrafter.. That will take some of the fear out of the process for me I think. I really like the idea of being to custom create my lotions with whatever oils and butters I want!
  14. He has NO idea but it's driving him NUTS since he had to replace alot of his. He is VERY small scale, backyard, honey to family, wax to me (I REALLY need to figure out how to clean this wax lol) I think his main problems were the birds and bugs, but I don't think those were enough to kill off 2 of his, I don't know hwat you call a herd of bees lol. I know he will never spray his, and is prepared to have to deal with some kills from the bugs. But on a larger scale.. dunno. The guy he gets his bees from also supplies the local orchards here in town and they lost almost all of theirs last year. It's really a bad thing because bees contribute sooo much to everything.
  15. Exactly! I started out thinking ok, this wax, this jar, this wick, these FO's.. and of course they are ALL going to work perfectly! HAHA Yeah, doesn't work that way!! That's why I think I'll stick to my B&B! lol
  16. I have thought about making my own lotion, and the more of the hunt I go on for the right one for me makes me want to try it more and more. I just don't have the nerve.. yet. LOL I know one of these days I will get the nerve. .. I've almost got enough to make CP soap! I have Swifts anhydrous ebook I purchased. LOVE it! I will probably buy her lotion making book as soon as I know I'm serious about trying to make my own. The whole testing really makes me cower away!
  17. My dad is a beekeeper. The biggest problem he has with his bees are other insects and birds. He refuses to use any type of pesticide on his bees, and prides himself on his 100% natural honey. (Bonus of having it in the family? I currently have 2 gallons of that lovely stuff in my cupboard, and a bucket of wax I haven't had the nerve to clean yet. lol) Anyways, there are many factors that are affecting his bees. Just this past summer he lost two hives and had to "restock" from his "bee pusher". I guess I just don't understand why these types of posts come up and keep going. Everyone has their own opinion on what is the best. What one person percieves is the best won't be the same as the other person. Yes it's annoying, irritating, and maddening to hear what you consider the best to get bashed, and usually based on pure opinion. But, when you read these and get upset, you are the only one getting upset. Is the person that wrote that upset? Nope.. they are happily living their lives in their lil box, while you are steaming. The best thing you can do is read these, Yes READ them. That way when someone approaches you regarding this information, you are already informed. You know what to say to them regarding any misinformation they have received. You are than able to give them the "real deal" and sway their opinion. There is no reason to bash any type of wax anyo9ne has chosen. You know the old saying.. "opinions are like A##holes.. everyone has one".... Read it, get a laugh from it, arm yourself with opposing facts, and call it a day... Just my own two cents worth...
  18. I've never tried this.. I'll have to look into it. My two favorite bases are the GMH from WSP, and the Hemp from Aquatech. Although I'm going to replace the Hemp since it's sooo pricey. I like it because it's thinner than the GMH lotion. I'm on a quest for a thinner base now...
  19. Not knowing what is in the original ones that makes it able to go up that wick, I really don't think it would be a good idea to try this. It's too risky for me when you're dealing with a combination of oil and electricity. If you are wanting to make air freshners for your house, I'd try making some salts or sprays or something like that that doesn't come near the electricity.
  20. I do B&B.. I've had many people ask me if I do candles too... So I thought, why not? I read, bought wax, wicks, already have FO.. Made some candles, they looked so pretty! Couldn't wait to let them cure a few days and light those babies up and make my house smell wonderful!.. Wow, this is a piece of cake right? WRONG!!! The first set I did.. NO hot throw.. at all.. Ok, those are for power outage days. The second set... AWESOME! Ok, what did I do different? Same wax, same jar, same wick.. different FO.. UGH!!! I decided this just wasn't going to be something I would want to add right now. The sheer amount of testing, testing, testing is something that I don't feel comfortable doing. Not just the money involved, but the time. People don't realize, until they actually try it for themselves the amount of time and money making a perfect candle takes. There are so many "Hobby Lobby or Michael's" kits out there that say - Make your own candles quick and easy! If you have the time and patience than you CAN make good candles! I have the patience of a rattlesnake, so I think I'll stick to my B&B. My hats are off to candlemakers! It is NOT as easy as many people think!
  21. Do you work where I do? LOL I swear I have NEVER worked in a place where the bathroom constantly smells STANK!!! And, if you can believe this, people keep stealing the cheap ole dollar air freshners! I thought about making a spray for each stall, but shoot, if people steal the nasty dollar store freshners, I'm sure nice smelling, homemade ones would get stolen too... ICK! I feel like putting a sign in each stall "Courtesy flushes DO work"! haha
  22. Hmmm I've never ordered from Daystar! It's almost stock up time (aka tax time) lol I might have to take a gander over there!
  23. I use 2% each of IPM and cyclo in my whipped shea
  24. I can not find the Pure Grace anywhere except there, and SOS. I dont use it in wax, but NG carries Amazing Grace and it smells identical to the real thing. I have the real one and was able to compare. I wish I could find a good place for the Pure Grace as it is my FAVORITE, and scent works is sooo spendy!
