  1. So what kind of testing do you guys do on your products? Do you have any books that are good references? And what are the things to test for? For Ex. I made up a shower gel cream ( I know sounds weird) and I am loving using it creamy, sudsy, actually washes off, (one of my pet peeves is the catch phrase "leaves youu feeling silky or whatever" usually for me means spend 45 min trying to rinse the stuff off. ) Using my personal favorite fragrance of the moment. what would you all put something like that through? I can tell you what all is in it if you want. Kristina:cheesy2:
  2. thanks Stella. Brambleberry is out of stock until further notice:) (I always love that phrase) I stmbled across organic creations on page umpteen lastnight. They sell a paste that looks like you can make any of the products with that might be cool to try and include full directions. When payday comes through I'll let you know howit goes. Kristina
  3. Thnaks, I'm looking for Liquid goats milk soap base. Should have specified. Not like there aren't nine million products to confuse us huh:)
  4. I appreciate everyone's help. I came to this site from a very all natural organic forum. While I prefer tostay away from as many chemicals as possible I also realize reality. but the amount of chemical information that hit me here was overwhelming. going from " use ROE, GSE, and Vit E" to everything that's here, Whoa! trying to find my balance between the two? And I can't find a goats milk soap base available anywhere:( Kristina PS I'm full time at home so I have loads of time to mess around...until the doctor hacks my back aftr Christmas.
  5. Thanks, I was just searching info on testing I found two posts, for B&B. Kristina
  6. Sorry but it seems wherever i go tofind thingsout the responses come bak more like being patted on the head like an idiot savant. It really does seem that every one does everything differently regardless of a manufacturer and whe you try to clarify they come back with more buy a base, add a n f.o. and cyclo or poly 20 or a modifier. so I go look all that up and come back and ask Hey this is what I found what does that mean? Now I get stop trying and read stuff like I haven't read a word (do you know how many pages are on this list?) and study until next year. while there are people saying just get abase and add fo. Where is the sense in any of this?? should I spend a fortune buy one of everything from every supplier and test everything have it all sent to labs to make sure I haven't created a plague and then just go out of business because I'm broke? I Really honestly do not understand and I'm not being snarky.
  7. Oh about Sanitizing should I buy an autoclave or just keep the bleach solution? Or I could just wipe everything on my apron? what is it with servers?? You try to find stuff out and get chewed out for trying to learn. Really encouraging. It was all of the confusing information on here that had me asking questions. One says use cyclo and and a base but it will make the base cloudy one says use this, one says use just FO but it will thin something out so add this. Do you guys know what you are doing?
  8. Gee and all the studying and reading I've been dong for the last almost year before going into body splashes, gels and things made out of bases...hmmm more homework? I never would have thought of that or have been doing that, or have shown up here. But yeah, whipping up stuff while making my pumpkin pies just never thought is was a problem. Jeez! I've read and re-read the fed regs. This adventure scares the crapout of me! Do you think i'd be asking questions if It didn't? NoI'd be throwing crap on my shelves regardless. But I happen to want customers to come back to me. I also read the labels and think to that I don't want half that crud on my skin. Kristina
  9. My husband stopped me from trying to learn candlemaking:)
  10. OH all over the place? yeah that's me:) Christmas season upon me and I had this crazy idea of cute little baskets with small little bottles lotion, milk bath (I've been making those forever) but hey why not add shower gel and body spray?? How hard can that be?? LOL. It really didn't seem complicated until I landed here in the world of abreviations and information overload. So with the Holiday bizaar kickoff on the 17th God only knows what my baskets will have. They won't have anything I haven't tried on myself and any other unsuspecting guinea pig I can get my hands on. (how do you rub stuff in past their fur? maybe the possum haunting my house will work?)
  11. That makes more sense. The instructions said add the fo to the modifier and you have what you need to add, but the base says differently like there is no modifier and....ArGH:)
  12. I looked up a modifier at WSP and it said add 1 part fo to 3 parts modifier. the body splash says to add 3% fo. Does it mean with the modifier or with out? Kristina
  13. So I looked up a modifiedr I i think on WSP and it says you add 3parts modifier to 1 part F.O. ...Then the body splashes say use 3% f.o. do they mean with or with out the modifier? I hate math! Kristina
  14. what kind of modifier leave body spray clear? Kristina
