  1. crystal warmers are just like anything else, there is a low end and a high end. I sell them at the fleamarket on the inside (teapots also) which may be why you are hearing the negative remarks. here are some www.crystalwarmers.com
  2. floaties? yewwww. I would call them. Doesn't matter who the supplier was, I would call them. It should be plain old oil.. I wouldn't strain anything ever. No matter how good. yuck. You are lucky it was a company with good customer service, it could have been one of the bad ones and you would have been stuck. One lady was just saying it took her 6 weeks to get her order! yikes
  3. I wouldn't go french, people will not tell their friends about you if they can't pronounce your name and have to figure out how to spell it. I really liked a french perfume, but didn't have a clue how to say it. It was embarrassing to answer people when they said I love your perfume, what is it? PLUS asking for it at the store was really FUN... I would keep part of you old name and add something southern to it.
  4. Your prices at ups are going to be different depending on how you get the package to them. They charge extra to pick it, etc... Alos if they are coming everyday, the first order sent out each week get the bigger fee (may be why wsp is so high fro some) Also depends on who's packaging and if they got the xact measurements. To me I don't use the paypal ups, but go to their site, however for anything usps, I use paypal. no fee for priority. free dc. etc...
  5. I have bought from him, don't buy the swirls, they don't sit right on the warmer. The lid keeps falling in and you have to sit it just right.
  6. I have been selling the tin ones for years and years, the only time one has came back for that problem was my own mother, she put the liquid stuff from walmart in it. I would assume that it got hotter than it was supposed to for wax. I bet your customer used liquid stuff.
  7. I use paintshop pro, they can make a stamp out of any design though. Just about any size, too. They have pencil top stamps that are the size of an eraser top and on up.
  8. the label will be wrinkled looking if you try to put it on the glass. You will have to hang tag or circle the lid. There is to much raised writing on the jar part. Even if you could get it on, I think it would come undone. I haven't tried it, no room for my labels on the jar.
  9. I have over 400 in tarts, I have them in alpha. I have markers on the outside telling what group it is. (perfume, bbw, yank, etc) People love to come in and sniff. They think I always have something new. I don't but some get their names changed. I must be doing something right cause I sell a ton. I do not carry such a large amount in candles. Many scents don't throw as well in candles. I carry enough to have a large selection though. They are also in alpha order. For my rep wholeslaers I carry 30 choices and three seasonals. Noway am I going to try to have that many on hand for those guys. For my regular wholesales they pick them and I stock them for them. I have a tart list, candle list and soap list. different mins on each of course. It does seem to be true that some sell florals (not flower shops for me though, figure that out...) some sell bakery and some like racey. They can all be in the same area, but with different customer bases. I have a herbal natural scent line for the nurseries and ony a few of them sell at the nurseries. But they sell like crazy elsewhere. My wholsalers usually already know what scents are going to sell in their customer base so I go with that. Every now and then I get a request, but usually can accomadate with a close scent and a name change. especially the racy, they really like them.
  10. I make my own, just take your design into the printers. I used to use office depot, and they could make about any size
  11. this must be the season for fundraisers, I have had four in the last couple of weeks. I only do one size jar, and 12 scents. My last one turned in at 500 candles, that may not be much for some of you, but it was for me. I had them come in once a week, so it has been pour city here.
  12. There is a lady near me dipping the ones from the dollar tree. Maybe you could pick up some cheapies to dip
  13. any pillar wax does not work fine for me, I have to use a high melt point wax. My bulbs would melt the candle inside
  14. I use go daddy for all my domain names.
  15. if you don't have the money o invest in a variety of things, I would go with the consignment. I struggled with the consignment/rent an area on my storefront. I finally decided the way to go is consignment, here is why. You can say what comes in. If you don't like it, think it is out of date or not classy enough for your store than you can say no. If you rent the space, you don't really have any say in what they bring in. I mean if I was paying you 100 bucks a month, for a 4 x 8 I wouldn't expect you to be able to tell me the crocheted toilet paper cover up dolls I amde were to ugly.. BUT if I was having you sell them on commision, you would get t see them first and you could just say, I had them before and I couldn't sell them... BTW, for my store I decided to buy my stuff outright. So far it has worked out well, I add a little bit every week. I would do pictures for sure. My brother bought me a cool hand blown hummingbird that is painted on the inside for my bathroom, it is nice looking and very unique....
  16. I sell my warmers to my wholesalers, I buy them in bulk and we all save on shipping. I carry quite a few kinds so it saves them from buying from all over the place. I don't really mark them up though.
  17. don't forget rosemary. I put all my evasive herbs in containers in the ground, otherwise you will have them everywhere
  18. I use paypal exclusively. I like that they have media rate, BUT especially the international stuff. If they pay for global priority I can pay and send right there, if not, I can imput the numberss and they send them off to them and track them online for me. I also love their reports, although I don't use them as much now that I have quickbooks and use the sellers assistant. I hate having to type all that in on click and ship.
  19. I don't look wholesalers anymore but I do have a brochure that I give to people who request wholesale pricing, for the most part my stuff is half retail, which seems to be the standard. I put the price of everything, the minimums and any other rules in the brochure. I hate it when I get something in the mail that looks interetsing and doesn't have the price. I can only trhink of one time I actually got on the phone and called a place to find out their pricing. jmo, but I would include pricing.
  20. The more you sell the cheaper your percentage is. You do have to go through hoops to get it lowered though. I have a business, but my hubby has a personal. It is a pain to use. I still have a couple of old store items that are on it (ebay) it says no cc or debit in the auctions, but when people see paypal they just assume, plus most people think debit is not a cc. The real pain is when I need to get his money out of his acocunt. I can't transfer money without paying a fee. I would not be surprised to learn one day soon that they were sued for collecting all the fees on cash transfers. I think they should not be allowed to do that. I understand the cc's, but cash transfer from one of their accounts to another is a real rip off. They stopped charging a "fee" for making labels a while back, I look for this one to stop also. If you notice though, in truth they just rearranged the fee, not you pay 14 cents for dc and it was free, but you had to pay paypal 20 cents to make a label. sneaky sneaky, you just know somebody got a spanking and they had to change it around. I bet they will soon have to drop the cash transfer fees also. The credit card company that I use does not charge for debit cards, and that is pretty resent, so i bet it is the way they will all go eventually. They are just to many people using debit cards now.
  21. I like the grumpy. dont't do a stick, she is your logo, people will look for her.
  22. I don't sell to many tealight warmers. My electric ones melt my tarts fine. I don't really have a high melt point, but I am not using container wax. My container wax would be totally gross with my kind of tarts. yuck, I wouldn't even want to bag them. I wish they would put an adjustable dial on them so you could turn it up or down. I sell a lot of that kind, but I don't get as much for them. I have asked them, but so far they just blow me off. They are really slow to ship, but they do have a nice deal if you can hold on and order over 500, they give you 10 percent off, which usually means free shipping to me. I have not had anybody tell me that they don't melt my competitions tarts either, so they must work well with soy.
  23. raspberries work pretty good. Don't know why blueberries wouldn't. Might change the color though.
  24. how really weird, I was at the show and seen them and the sales lady told me it was all candle! yikes talk about a mess! Maybe she thought I meant the jelly bean ones??
  25. mostly memories candles are all wax. they also do pie wedges, full pies, etc. the jar candle like the picture are really well done embeds. They have a couple of really nice lines. I like the looks of their jelly bean jars also. I am not surpirsed that your out sell theirs, they are cute, but they sure don't have much of a smell. The pie slice comes in a really unique holder, but the pie burns like crap and I couldn't smell a thing. ps they are also showing their absolutely best picture, the ones that I have seen are not exactly perfect and in most you can tell they are embeds right off.
