  1. There are days when I wish I go out and run and play... I think we all have them. Doing the same old thing day in and day out, blah, it gets boring. I think you have to try something new or a new way of doing it to keep yourself motivated. I tried several new things last years and almost all of them are working out. (I found I despise incense even if it is my own.) I have made soaps for over 26 years and it is so boring to me. I am not sure if I will be able to force myself to gear up this year. It is such a yucky mess. The very thought of having to go back to a regular job and answer to somebody else, that is what gets me moving. I just don't think I could do it again. I love being on my own and can't imagine having to take a different job. We have looked at several other businesses as hubys is kinda slow right now. So we may move in that direction. They are selling out in two years, so I have lots to do before then. I can see why people espcially those with children at home would want to go back to a regular job. Your children are only home with you for a short while, (yes I know some days it doesn't seem like that) and you should put them first. It really won't be all that long and you will have all the time in the world to clean house, start a business, etc. I try to spend as much time with my grandkids as possible and regret every moment I was to busy for my own children... They are all grown now and I remember all the times I was to busy cleaning etc, to do things with them. I would go back to a regular job if my business was keeping me from enjoying my kids while they were still at home and wanted me to be with them. Be good to your kids as they will pick your nursing home,
  2. I remember them, I thought they went under years ago! Several people ordered and never got their stuff and nobody answered at that place answered their emails!
  3. I would check into her for sure. However, I have had several orders for 10,000 and they were legit, I sell tarts so we are not talking about the same kind of money outlay, but they were for real. It is an awful amount of work, but I make sure I get the time to do them. I guess it depends on her business also. If she is a distributor or a wholesaler, then she may actually need that amount of product, just can't imagine it though. 10,000 candles for a retail store, nope just can't see it.
  4. monica can make anything. www.vanyulay.com
  5. They are wonderful! Great products reasonable shipping and they really know their products if you have any questions. What are you thinking about trying new? I am scanning my lists of things to try and everything seems to require two hands. Maybe some butters???
  6. somebody had a strawberry frosted cupcake. mabe try that in the frag oil search
  7. I make "tallow" soap. The people I get my cow fat from heat their barns with leftover fat. I thought it was wild and they told me most porcessing planys do it as they generate a whole bunch of unusable stuff and you can't just let it lay around..... I do not make tallow cndle although I have been asked to make it for a couple of groups that do re enactments and such.
  8. I use slabs, so I keep them in the box. The sticky stuff, in the original box. Anything in pellets, or chips, I use plastic candy display jugs. I get them from a lady who sells candy. I put my gels in small plastic garbage cans. I have had a few leak icky stuff on the box before. I use liquid coloring in some things, my husband made me a hanger out of u steel and bolted it to the wall. The bottles fit right in. I labeled each spot so I can find them. I bought wire shelving racks on wheels and keep te warmers on one shelf, wax on another and the other stuff I use all on the wire shelves. I use the turkey fryers, so I don't really move them. We made stations or areas with the shelves and countertops. I have a tart station, bakery station, potpourri, candle, soap...etc.. I try to keep all the stuff in the right area. The counters for the candles and tarts meet back to back so we put the u for dyes on their backsplash when we moved so you can access them from both sides. Other organizers include all my labels in one of those divided brochure things you can get at office deopt, or goodwill if you are lucky. We put the dye chips in those little screw drawer things you can buy in the tool department. I did finally figure out my molds. We bought those plastic drawer things at walmart, we found that they slide under the counters perfectly, so I have my molds in the drawer right under the counter. I have not yet kept them in much order, but I do try. I will try to get some pictures tomorrow. We hung glavanized shelving from the ceiling and I keep all my other stuff on these, but it is kind of hard to picture.
  9. I have them. They do not sell as well as the regular kind, I mostly sell the one that has a place for you to put your own picture. My display is usually a mess, but most of them are. It has a little bowl that you take out to change. It is metal so it does seem to get hotter than the others. every breath is the second best seller for me in this style.
  10. I typed up explanations and what people wanted to know about lye and put it on a business card. Whenever anybody asks me, I just hand them a card. PS, palmolive was once in trouble for their sanitary practices. My Mom had the newspaper clipping for all those dove users. I believe the neighboring businesses and homeowners complained enough about the smell. I will have to ask her about it. Would have been over 20 years ago though.
  11. Take the very end and wrap it around a pencil or skewer, hold the end and wind it tightly. Pull out the skewer or pencil. Be sure to let your customers know they must cot off the curly part.
  12. You can transfer the money from your regular checking account to your paypal account so you can buy things with your paypal debit card. I have mine set up so that it will automatically witdrawl the money from my business account checking when enough is not available in my paypal account. In setting up your paypal, you would have had to give information for such transfers, Look under preferences to make sure it is the right information and then you should be able to add money into it. A lot of people only use a paypal debit crd for their online purchases so that they are protected.
  13. Yes, they are pies, Yes, I make them I have seen the flour cinnamon buns, but never a pantrycake, sounds very cool. My store is 15 x 30 and is only open on the weekends, so I have plenty of time to make stuff, or I should anyhow.
  14. I carried mine for over a year before I finally gave in and decided to carry them. I love mine. If it gets dirty I just shout it out and throw it in the washer. It has a heavy plastic liner in a pocket that you just pull out and tons of pockets so I should never lose anything. They are selling pretty well. A lot of my customers were asking for them. I would like to carry the jackets, but can't find them anywhere. One place I found at the show does them, but it takes 90 days to get them in. Plus I am a little scared of sizes. It sounds like a big investment. I just carry the 4 country designs of the purses. I asked my friend who sells purses at the fleamarket to pick out the styles since she sells just purses. I would not have picked those styles, but people like them.
  15. I am at a fleamarket. I have three booths. 15 x 30 total space I just stuff it full.
  16. Kentucky, I think I would rather come see you, especily as it is calling for cold weather again.
  17. Since Christmas I bought new displays and have changed it some These are the purses I have started to carry, I still haven't figured out the best way to display them. I moved all the black shelving along one aisle instead of back to back This is from behind the counter This is my daughter, hard to believe she is really a blonde! I squeezed this in the front angle of the counter looking down the middle aisle this is some of the new primitive displays. I bought a whole row of these.. more of the new row looking towards the right flip side in the middle, I guess I should have taken pictures before I started filling them.
  18. I took some pictures at Christmas, i always like looking at others shops so I thought I would share some of mine yes I had two trees 2nd tree back aisle left side left corner very front right side right side
  19. that company is called your own candle, you can buy the candles from obi probably other places. They leave the straigheners in becuase it is cheaper for them to do so. They do not have to pay anybody to pull them out clip the wicks, etc. All the ones I have seen have them in it. The wick straighteners are available through www.buywax.com. They are paraffin, or at least they were.
  20. Have you seen the new ones from yankee? They have a fan in them to get the scent out of them.
  21. If you want to be sure the whole amount gets into your soap, rebatch it. Thats what I do.
  22. I don't use soy. But I am using my conatiner wax, since I am putting this in a container, now if i was going to use it without the bowl (which you can I did a few with no bowl), I used pillar wax.
