  1. I am reading this thread because I am doing the experimenting. Don't have the dimethicone, but have the others. I just made a batch, slightly greasy that is almost gone and now have new ideas to try.
  2. Colors never bother me--if you want to know what "bugs" me in a bath bomb--lavender flowers! Careful with the additives. I got a real nice, huge Lush lavender scented bath bomb. Ran the tub, threw in the bomb and laid back--eyes closed. Opened eyes to see what looked like 100 bugs floating on the surface of the water--I about died! All I could think was that they were above me and how was I going to get out when I realized it was just the lavender flowers gone brown. Did not notice them when I bought the bomb. Made a mental note to never add flowers to bath bombs.
  3. Going through what you are Dana, greasy batches are good for the feet, just slap it on and pull socks over them and they will absorb and leave your feet feeling great.
  4. I like them both, the lilacs are simple and add to the look and the Geisha's Kimono--you hit the nail on the head.
  5. I burned our counter top with my heat gun, heating up the sides of a jar and didn't notice the angle was also heating up the counter! Left a scorch mark and thank god, it was about a month before we renovated the kitchen--so no harm We now have tile counters and I don't have to worry so much--I think I could probably take a blowtorch to them now and be ok LOL.
  6. Wow...deja vu! I just dyed my daughter's hair last night (15 years). She wanted it a lighter brown. I have the whole attitude thing going on...although she does apologize after she snaps out of it. I have to agree with Coco--this generation seems so much worse than I ever dared to act around my parents. I usually try and keep it in check by taking away privileges (phone, computer, cell, etc) but it takes several days before the three-headed monster disappears and my REAL daughter emerges
  7. Those are really beautiful--the stamps really add to the effect!
  8. I am. I am back at school and this past holiday season trying to squeeze in making stock, shows, midterms, and term papers (not to mention wife and mother duties) just about knocked me out. This year I am only doing two shows so I am cutting back considerably. I don't know where I will be next year.
  9. What bull Natty! Sorry to hear that. If they're all that, you would think they could hire someone to write for their site instead of stealing.
  10. I, too, am interested in the preservative. I am using Liquidpar Optima and was told to make sure it was cold when adding. I hate waiting for it to cool!
  11. I never have mine warm because with the preservative I have to add it when the lotion is cold. I have found the easiest way to get lotion into a bottle/jar is to put it in a sealable baggie and then cut the corner and squeeze it out.
  12. Lasers are better on the ink and more durable than inkjets. I stuck with an inkjet (we just bought another one) because I needed the combo, copy, fax, scan, does photos. I am not doing much business this year so I won't have all the labels to print (hallelujah!!!).
  13. I have some hydrance but with my next batch I was going to add less crothix, I don't like the idea of adding more stuff to combat other additives. I have only made about six batches now so I am so new, I am still getting the feel of it all. I am using Kokum butter in mine, but have been wanting to switch to shea. I think I will do that on the next batch and see how it goes.
  14. You did right. Don't stoop to their level and insult them. If the shopowner is foolish enough to believe them, there is nothing you can do. You took the high road and with people like that, it is hard, sorry.
  15. I have. I read this post and what Chris said and was wondering why I did! I went at looked at MMS, where I bought it, and it isn't there. So, upon looking back in time--this was on their site: Crothix Liquid Thickener INCI: PEG-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate (and) PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides (and) Water Have you ever accidentally thinned a shower gel, lotion or cream to the point it just isn't what you wanted? Don't cry! This new thickener will rescue your overly thinned product. Add a SMALL amount of this liquid and stir it in cold. Don't worry about heating, while it can help keep a mixture crystal clear, heating isn't necessary. We most often hear of people who have added a fragrance to their shampoo base, shower gel or other product only to find the fragrance does an excellent job of thinning the final product so we are offering this new thickener to help boost the viscosity of your finished goods. Your skin will often have a "conditioned" feel when Crothix is used in rinse off products. Usage rate is generally 1 to 8% and the final mixture does not need added neutralization just because this thickener is used. Start at 1% and go up from there. We were amazed that so little is needed to actually thicken significantly. So I have added it, my butter had drag, not a lot--but it was there. You only need add a little bit--it does thicken, alot. I think I added .5 or 1%, can't remember off the top of my head. Having said that, MMS does not have this on their site anymore and everywhere I checked said exactly what Chris said so I don't know if there are negatives using it in lotions--all the butters I have made with it have all been used and no one had any bad effects from it.
  16. Have you tried TKB? http://www.tkbtrading.com/
  17. Nice job Sabrina, I like the color combinations. Overall it looks clean, which is what I like in a site.
  18. My thoughts it looks too good to be true, which usually means it is. They just have it too simple, they make it seem as if you just sign up and these companies are going to start buying from you. I do NOT know for sure (so if someone who knows could step in it would be great) but I think in order to sell to some of the big guys out there you have to be able to provide them large quantities, enough to carry stock in their chains, and also have your products UPC coded, etc.--a lot more requirements than selling to a local gift shop. I would think they would mention this somewhere on their site the requirements before you would be considered by one of these companies. That is what is disturbing to me. It is possible to conform to their requirements, but I would want to know what they are before I shelled out that money.
  19. I'm on my third one in six years--my next one is definitely a Dyson.
  20. I have had the pleasure of using CB's soaps from a swap, I can honestly say that she knows what she is doing, they were very nice soaps Would you like me to try some more, just to make sure?
  21. It would be interesting to see what happens. California has banned phthalates I believe in toys and children's products. It hasn't gone into effect yet. Some scientists say it is fear mongering, some say the phthalates need to go. There is a big debate going on but I know several more states are considering bans--although I think they are targeting toys/child products as well.
  22. OMG, I have tears down my cheeks, it wasn't just the soap, it was your description--especially when you got to the festering wound. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the laugh
  23. Murphy's Law. Same reason we had a VCR that lasted 14 years, then when it broke and we replaced it with a DVD player, it broke in one year
