  1. LOL if you look at some of the feedback, you will see the same names over and over. If you look at their feedback, there are about three of them that are all over each others' feedback. I think they have a little pact going on over there.
  2. Good luck to you, I am sure that was not an easy decision and you don't have to leave the board You can keep it up as a hobby and still join in and do swaps. I tapered down this year because last year it was hard being back in college, doing shows and making stock at the same time. This year I am enjoying the time I have freed up. I am still doing a couple of small things and just catering to some regulars who contact me directly. Next year I plan on going crazy again. Maybe by then some of the prices will have come down, if not, I will adjust. Good luck
  3. When I started I was in a similar situation. If $1,000 is what you need, then figure out your costs and how long and how many candles you will have to make to recoup the cost of the coder from your profits. I got an offer similar to yours for regular candle orders with a company, but knew I would need a melter and other things to make them in quantity. I think I spent around $1,500, but recouped that money in a short while, so it was very worth it. I also made them sign a contract to agree to purchase XX amount of candles a month for a year--that way I was guaranteed to recoup the money and not be out of pocket. It is standard and a good practice to ask for a contract in a business situation because it is understood you are going to lay out money to fulfill the orders, it also solidifies the agreement if things go south later. To not have a contract leaves you with the possibility of them backing out after a few orders, leaving you with the costs and a useless coder.
  4. Don't even get me started! I had a CT member send me a priority mail box from 70 miles away from me. It never made it. We had tracking and when we tracked it, it was listed as undeliverable, the address had gotten pulled off of it. They told us we would have to contact the office where they send undeliverable packages, which was somewhere up north, I forget. We had the tracking number. We contacted them and got NO response. We sent letters no response. They also have a neat little policy that if they don't find the owner within I believe 30 days (may be less) they destroy the package. We contacted them in plenty of time and not once did they respond. I think they just pick and choose and because my package smelled good, I am sure the label just fell off. The sender also acknowledged she had the label on securely and it only had to go 70 miles!!
  5. I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot barge pole. The liability can still fall on you and you knew in advance what the intent was. Just being used as a candle is one thing, using it as a body candle is another and opens up that liability window much more.
  6. I've been with them for two years and never had a problem. The welcome email will explain everything and it is very easy to use. Been extremely satisfied here, no outages at all. Plus, he is a sweetie to boot and will help anytime.
  7. I like those, you are very talented
  8. Esme is in Veracruz, Mexico--hence she collected the shells walking on the beach there; the site is also out of Mexico.
  9. The soaps look wonderful, but I wanted to comment on the first set of soaps with the flowers in the pictures. The photography really sets those off--the lighting and clarity are great.
  10. Sorry to hear that. I have never had that problem so I didn't know how that would impact someone. The only thing I can't do is read in a car. Last summer I was even dumb enough to get on one of those huge coasters at Sea World. It didn't make me nauseous, but it did scare the heck out of me. I was shaking after and decided that I have finally hit the age where I won't be doing rollercoaters anymore Well, it makes sense why that picture would be disturbing, I was reading the responses and not realizing what an impact it would have.
  11. Motion sickness causes that sensation, do you have problems on "moving things"--logically that would include most forms of transport?
  12. Bit of a hijack here, but what do you people who cannot deal with things moving in circles deal in life? There are traffic circles, merry-go-rounds, lazy suzies..heck alot of display cases move in circles. Do you always feel nauseous? This is caused by motion sickness, real or perceived movement. I would go crazy if I had to limit my life in that manner. My sympathies to all
  13. It was already established they can't transfer the site. One of two choices, be level-headed and copy and save what you can; or be rash, terminate with HCM and recover nothing. I think people can make their own logical choices. I know what I would be doing--the same thing Adam is doing instead of just throwing away everything in the heat of the moment. I stand by what I said to Adam, it makes the difference to be able to sit back, without emotion and take action versus throwing the towel in because you are upset. Getting emotional gets you nowhere fast.
  14. Kudos to you Adam, you have knowledge beyond your years. You are controlled when things aren't working out right and thinking logically. I am sure in a few years you are going to get far being so level headed.
  15. Just for comparison, here are my website browser stats: 36% MSIE 6.0 30% MSIE 7.0 21% Firefox 2.0.0 7% Safari 1.2 4% 2% Mozilla 4.0
  16. That's a real nice job on the frame--I am not into prim but I really like it
  17. This site lists Linux compatible printers. I had this page marked because I did a research project on Linux, but I use Windows so I can't personally vouch for compatibility. Hope this helps a bit http://www.linuxprinting.org/printer_list.cgi
  18. It may not be the vendor's fault. I have had my mortgage payment not show up on my account four weeks after I paid it. The bank that has my mortgage said they were paid immediately, my bank misplaced the transaction. Same with some atm transactions, but they still have the right to take the money but you did authorize it.
  19. I know, hijack--I love your logo and design. They are very nice looking
  20. That is pretty much what it boils down to. You can even have a name trademarked and if another business uses it, legally the only way to stop them if they ignore your request is to sue them. You will have to pay a lawyer, and it will be very expensive and time consuming. Something to consider is if it is worth it. Sending a C&D would be cheap, but if they ignore it, you will have to decide if they are really causing you a loss in your business. I am not 100% sure, but I don't think it is a hosting company's responsiblity to enforce business name trademarks either. They have no way of knowing whether a name is trademarked or not and I doubt they will shut down a customer on your word that they are using your trade name. I have had this happen (similar circumstance) and basically the other person is not near me and really is not affecting my business. I am not planning on being the next Yankme so it is not worth my time or money to pursue. A lot of small craft businesses don't have longevity either.
  21. You are so creative, I envy you. You really capture the "fairy" spirit I only wish my girls were younger, they wouldn't wear it now, but they would a few years back.
