  1. My "friend" just signed up with scensy yesterday... I wanted to throw something at her, lol!! She knows what I do...... At the same time I'm kinda curious to about if their stuff is any good.:tiptoe:
  2. I have been getting mine from Lonestar http://www.lonestarcandlesupply.com/products/candlemakingaccessories_clamshell-molds.html They always ship fast and the shipping rates are great
  3. Where is this recipe? I tried a search, but couldn't find it . Got me wanting to try it
  4. I love ProPay!!! Doing the knuckle-buster thing as well.
  5. lauramw71, I mix my flavoring into the balm in a small glass jar while its sitting on one of those cheap walmart candle warming plates. In fact That's how I warm my base because I hate microwaving it . I then pour tiny amounts in a dixie cup and fill tubes.
  6. I scoop out, measure and melt as well. I use BC's Flavor oils and notice that they tend to get stronger if you let them sit and cure for a few days . I use BC's recommendation chart for my amounts. Good luck! People swear that my lip balms are the best and they sell like hot cakes
  7. Yes 6006 is a container wax and the paraffin is the IGI 1260 embed wax. It throws like a bomb too.... I guess it's back to the drawing board. I have lots of palm pillar wax on hand.. Hmmmmmm... LOL!! Thanks for the input!!
  8. Anyone have any advice? If I can't figure this out, I'm going to have to go back to pouring them in molds, and that would make me soo sad, lol!! Do your tarts normally just pop out? Or do you have to kinda force them out? I am going to mess with them again today, but try pouring less than 120, even tho it will probably make the wax gooey. Should I add some kind of additive? Thanks so much in advance!!
  9. Good luck!! I started out with two different size containers and did really well at shows . You can always add later on
  10. It's IGI 1260 embed wax. I am beginning to wonder if it's the clamshells. They don't seem to close very well :/. They have a big wrinkle on both sides when closed.
  11. Hi!! I have finally gotten around to using clamshells. I uses 6006 with 25% paraffin added to make the wax a bit harder. I poured some into clamshells today. I poured at 120*. I got the clamshells from Lonestar. When I tried to pop out a square, it was rather difficult . Should I spray the clamshells first with something?
  12. I didn't have to do that.. Hope you can get it figured out, maybe call them. Should have been a quick and easy thing to set up.
  13. I love the Sissies Sugar Cookie!! Pumpkin Cheesecake (I go through a lot of that one) Citrus Splash Holiday Wassil Cinnamon buns are yummy Harvest (I sell a lot of stuff in this FO as well) Those are my favorites I used to make palm candles and all of those preformed wonderfully!!
  14. Hi!! I have a question about making tarts. I have cases of 6006 sitting around. I have a feeling I won't be getting back to making candles anytime soon, so I am experimenting with making tarts with this particular wax since I have so much of it. I am not too clear on how long they should last. I made up a few scents, most at one ounce of FO per pound of wax with no additives. I am using a 12w candle warmer. (It is all I have at the moment) The first test, the scent knocked my socks off. My house is 1000sqft. Filled it up with very strong scent. Burned for 8 hours. Second day, was still pretty strong and burned for 6 hours. Today is the third day and I can smell it only if I am a few feet from the warmer. I had the tarts cure a whole week before I started to test. So is this average? Should I add something? What is normal for tarts?
  15. When I make beer soap, I open a few cans and pour it into a open container and leave it in my fridge for a couple of days. I stirred it a few times a day.
  16. Their Christmas Tree smells like the real thing. I normally sell a lot of candles in that FO every holiday season.
  17. When I use honey in my soaps, I make sure the honey is pretty warm. I place my honey in a small bowl and warm it using a candle warmer. If I don't, then my soap looks like it is sweating tiny beads of honey.
  18. I use Bitter Creeks flavor oils & bases and I found mine need to cure a few days.
  19. Sometimes I do 50%. That is, if I know that fragrance will behave ...
  20. The best way to learn is trial and error. Reading through message boards such as this one is probably the best reading material. I was making candles for fun years before I thought I was good enough to sell. Candles are kinda tricky, what may work for someone else may not work for you. Different climates can also affect your candles. Have fun, experiment... A lot of suppliers have candle making kits for beginners. They are a great way to get your feet wet :smiley2:. A lot of people think candle making can get you quick money fast, with little investment... I would be scared to go back and see how much all my investments would be. Just read as much as you can on these boards. Decide on what kind of wax you want to work with then read all you can on that certain wax. Find out what kind of wicks people common use then start with that. Also take note on temperature pour, fo loads and so on. Candle making is fun to learn :smiley2:. Good Luck!
