  1. I have always used liquid soap dyes in my CP soaps. I am ready to try something new. I want to play around with micas and other powder colors. Has any one used the powder dyes from Taylored Concepts? I need a good blue that won't turn purple on me. Also somebody please tell me how many about how many tablespoons are in an ounce. For a medium color shade, would you say a tablespoon of powder dye per lb of soap???
  2. OoOoO, I really like those. Great job!
  3. I put mine in after I blended my oils for a bit. I want to make sure it's well blended together before it traces and I add FO.
  4. I warm my honey on a candle warmer, lol!!! I place what honey I need in a glass bowl then let it sit on there for a while. Works like a charm! BTW your soaps look beautiful
  5. Your site is very nice and you candles and pictures are beautiful!!!!
  6. I say the Texas Hill Country. We have a second home there, I spend as much time as I possibly can out there. I live in the Houston/Galveston area and I would move in a heartbeat to the Hill Country. There are way more craft show/market opportunities there than in the Houston area. Google Bandera, Kerrville, Boerne, and Fredericksburg. Lots of people go to these areas just to shop for things you can't find anywhere else. They have so much going on year round. I make so much more money when I sell out there. No offense to any one but I could not live in San Antonio (well maybe surrounding areas) & Dallas. It's killing me to live in the Houston/Galveston area. The only reason I am in this area is for my husband's job. I like East Texas but it's really not my thing either.
  7. Hmmmmmm..... I know that happens to me if I don't get my honey blended into the OM&H soap good enough. I have made quite a bit of beer soap and that's never happened to me like that. Was it a thick, dark beer? Did you use just beer and no water for your liquid? Only thing I can think of is when using only beer sometimes it's kinda thick like syrup when I am adding it to my oils. Maybe it did incorporate all the way. But then again you said it didn't zap, so I have no clue:confused:. Hope you get it figured out....
  8. I don't know how you feel about animal fats in your soaps but lard would make a great ingredient. I use it in my personal soap. Most of the soap I make for my household is lard, olive, canola, castor and coconut. If your intrested in the recipe I'll give it to you. I hope you are able to find something to work for ya'll.
  9. Sorry to hear about that. I found the hard way not to do festivals. I did a few when I was starting out and never made much. I will only do craft shows or market type events. Don't let this get you down. My first show, I was 6 months pregnant and a bad "surprise" storm blew in and we ended up walking with mud almost up to our knees.
  10. Love the color combo! Very pretty purse!
  11. I have a cheapo one from Walmart, that thing has made many batches of soap. I just do short blasts with it then stir my soap with it. I never leave mine on for more than maybe 30 seconds at a time. I am scared that I am going to burn it out if I do it anymore than that, lol. I need to go ahead and go and get a back up SB. I make probably 20-25 batches of soap a week and more during holidays. Mine is two+ years old now....
  12. I have only done containers and started off using 6006 wax then moved to palm.
  13. Yep I use their technical grade also.....
  14. Hmmm, very interesting......... I wonder how they are getting the used plastic bottles? And I guess you can totally sanitize them? I dunno.... It's a cool idea tho. The dish soap seems kinda pricey to me, I just bought a 64 oz bottle at the price they are listing the 20 oz for.
  15. I know it was used way back in the day by our ancestors and such.... but back then you always hear about fires starting and quickly becoming out of control..... We have ways of making safe candles now with waxes. I cringe at the thought of non candle makers thinking "Oh that looks like fun to make!" and make a greasy candle that will possible burn their house down. I don't know how flammable a grease candle would be, but I know throwing bacon grease on your trash pile sure does make a great fire starter, lol!!
  16. ....and all this time I have been fretting over rising wax prices:mad:! I find that blog a bit repulsive myself, yeah that one is a doozy, lol! I would be so afraid of the whole thing catching fire.
  17. Discounting water will shorten cure time. If you do 50/50 sometimes you can get a cure in two weeks.
