  1. I guess I am going to start off experimenting with lavender and rosemary which are my favorite smelling ones. I read all that stuff on how they can mess with people on medication and all the effects they can have. I know most of the time people are talking about massage oils and such. I am having a hard time finding info on eo in soap. Sorry if I sound so dense, I think I am way over reading. For now I am looking to make for personal use, but also for my mom and dad too. My dad is on high blood pressure and my mom is taking medications for a few other minor things. I have never played with EO's before and I am really interested in them. I just don't know where to start. I don't think I want to use them in anything else other than soaps. I love the way CP with EO's smells. Thanks for replying, I really apriciate it:smiley2:.
  2. I have read so much about EO's, my brain is fixing to explode. I know that EO's must be thoroughly researched before making anything with it. So my question is, are the effects of EO as strong in CP as in say like lotion?? I know that people with high blood pressure should not use rosemary. And there seems to be so many that pregnant women should not use. Does the lye, or whole saponification process soften the effects??? I went shopping today and saw several places with EO's in CP and they had no warning labels on them about the possible effects of the EO's. I would really like to make myself some soap with EO but am kinda worried about mixing the wrong EO's together or something. Or am I over reacting?? Any thoughts on this would be much appricated.
  3. BWAAAHAHAHHAHA that was lovely, lol!!!!:laugh2::laugh2:
  4. I have a weakness for handmade quilts. That one is lovely! Learning how to quilt is on my to-do list......
  5. Everybody's shipping is high because ups and others won't lower their rates:mad:. It sucks. That's why I hold off on ordering anything that needs to be shipped until I have a good sized order to place.
  6. I list mine on my site. I would hate for somebody to order then receive product and see something on the ingredients they couldn't use. That's just me. I have no clue if we are required to by the FDA.
  7. I would also suggest the looking into the Texas Hill Country. I have a second home out there (Medina/Bandera area) and one day hope to make a permanent move out there. The climate is pretty dry but there are plenty of rivers to play in. It gets pretty warm in the summer but it doesn't seem too bad to me and I am a hot nature person. There is a drought going on out there now but that won't last forever. The cost of living is pretty low IMO, and it is so pretty out there. The people are very friendly. A lot of people love to go out there to shop (including me) and there is never a shortage of outdoor markets.
  8. I mixed Palm and 6006 in a 50/50 ratio as an experiment once. Then I tried 60% palm to 40% 6006. I didn't get the palm effect at all. The 60/40 did has little vertical white lines all around the candle but not like regular palm wax. I poured into jelly jars and both my test burns failed so I quickly lost interest. I figured the look alone was not worth all the testing at all.
  9. **warning** making CP can and probably will lead to addiction, lol! The reason why I like CP is that you can choose what ingredients you want in your soap. Your are in totall control. M&P has what ever the manufacturers put in it. M&P has more of a play factor where you can do cool things like embeds and such and the opportunities are endless with it. With CP you can add chunks, but most people love swirls. The fancier the swirls the better! In my area CP sells very well. People around here like the "total made from scratch" stuff.
  10. I am considering dropping candles, but it's kinda hard to do when your name has "candles" in it. We'll see what happens. I am so burned out on making candles. I am having more fun making B&B and it does much better than my candles.
  11. What about just "Wassail"?? When I do get around to making candles in Holiday Wassail from BCS they don't stick around very long, no matter what time of the year. I just drop the "Holiday" part off during non holiday time. Sorry I am not very original am I, lol.
  12. I have been making candles forever now, and I started B&B two years ago. B&B sells better for me.
  13. Hi, I am dense. Does Tommy Bahama smell like pineapple cilantro???? I have no idea what pineapple cilantro smells like. I almost ordered it once. I soap lots of Lonestar's Tommy Bahama and it's a very strong favorite:cheesy2:.
  14. I can tell you, from first hand experience, that a plastic measuring cup is not good for holding FO's either, lol.
  15. I am trying something new. I made this one for me. There's aroma beads in there scented in BCS's Herbal. I am going to sew a few of these up and see how people take to them, but I'll post them here to get ya'lls opinions . I put one in my suburban and man it's got the whole thing scented up already!! Here's mine.... Please excuse my stitching, my machine had issues earlier. I added Velcro to the straps to make it easy to attach to rear view mirrors or what ever they need be to attach to. If I decide to make to sell, I'll match the velcro color to the strap . My other material I picked up for my sachets a bad picture of it hanging from my rear view mirror Thanks for looking!!!
  16. IMO palm wickless are just to hard for the candle warmers to melt. Or maybe my candle warmer is crappy. It took way too long to get my candle to completely melt while I was testing them. Palm wax has a higher melt point than other waxes.
  17. Yep and my husband thinks I am nuts because of all the candle supply stuff that has taken over the whole house.
  18. All I can say is WOW:shocked2:! That looks awesome and I am totally jealous, lol!!
  19. Where I live you can not buy it in stores anywhere. I get mine from http://www.aaa-chemicals.com They have great customer service:)
  20. IMO there are more people out there who do not know how/or ignore instructions to properly burn a candle. Unfortunately we can not enforce, regulate or certify people who buy and burn our candles. Making us certified or regulated or whatever is just as useless. The only thing that would do is add to our expense and have to pass yet another cost to customers. I am not in favor of any more government in my life than what there is already, thank you very much.
