  1. I agree, it is a challenge. Honestly, if everyone just did one thing or changed one routine or habit, it does make a huge difference. We don't need to be completely "green" in order to help. There are so many things people can do that would not affect there lives that would help in cleaning things up. Just being more responsible with the things we buy and throw away or recycle. I know that's not what the thread is about but I'm such a tree hugger, I had to comment!
  2. I always use 1 oz pp with my C3 and my 50/50 blend. I have no idea how they compare to your wax though.
  3. I really love the products that Brambleberry sells. There prices are reasonable even with shipping and their CS is awesome. They are my personal favorite for most of my soap supplies. They even include free samples with your order.
  4. There Wildberry mousse and Apples and Maple Bourbon are really great. If you haven't tried them, I recommend getting samples! Yummy! They throw great in my C3.
  5. There is more to being green then just global warming. I agree with sliverofwax that it is a natural phase our planet goes through, however we have caused a lot of pollution to this planet that we have to live with. There is nothing wrong with wanting to reduce the impact we have on the planet by making better choices in the products we use and how they affect our environment. I have incorporated a lot of "green" products and ways into my life not because of global warming but because I do believe that we have greatly impacted the safety of our water that we depend on and the air we breath. We do need those things to live. On a business perspective, (I am assuming you want to do business honestly) if you want to market something as "green" then you need to make sure that you understand what it really means so that you can market them honestly. From your FO's to your wicks and dyes. People are going to want to know how each of these items are "green". Some people will go as far as to want to know how the soy used is grown and processed so that it is considered a truly "green" product. Frankly, I'm not sure that is possible. Unless you grow it yourself you just don't know.
  6. I have some new scents from Cierra and JBN that I can't wait to try!!! Blackberry sage, butterscotch brulee and Orange blossom. Yum!!
  7. Well, I've never been able to completely beat this wax but here is what I do with 90% success: I heat it to about 175. ( I add CO while it is heating, apx 1 tsp pp.)I remove it from the heat and add dye. I wait until about 160 to add fragrance oil, 1 oz pp and by the time I am done stirring the temp is about 155-150 when I pour it. I use the 12 sided jars, apothecary jars and melting pot jars. I cool them very slowly in a warm oven. (Sometimes I use an insulated box when the oven is being used for silly stuff like food:-) The temp in my house is always between 70-72 degree but the humidity is always changing. I'm sure it has some affect on candles but so far I haven't noticed any major issues related to humidity. I never do repours when I do get issues with the tops I just give it a quick blast of the heat gun to reheat the tops to fill in and even out issues. (I'm just lazy like that.)
  8. Brighter scents has a witches brew. It is not a strong scent oob. But once it was mixed with my soy and cured people said it was much stronger than my candle nose could pick up.
  9. If I remember right, the directions are correct. Funflames is correct, it does make a beautiful candle. I could never get a good enough HT with it so switched to C3. Some people find adding things like coconut oil to it helps the HT some.
  10. Thanks for the heads up. I just placed an order with them. I needed soap molds too and with 30% off what the heck.
  11. LOL. Badonkadonk butt! Cafe delight? Simply sweet?
  12. See, I'm not trying to fuel any fires. I was simply empathizing with Trap and expressing my own feelings. I have had a lot of questions but have been hesitant to ask because I have read a lot of nasty replies on here. Most of it is good responses but some seem so quick to jump on people. If I offend someone because I comment that I have been hesitant to post then that is just proving my point! :undecided As far as the FO, I understand what works for some doesn't work for others, that's a given, I just enjoy reading what really works for others because it is good information worth posting. FO's are expensive and I have to pick what I try wisely. That's more of a problem of mine with lack of money and not with the forum. So if something works really well for someone using the same wax it is worth me looking into to save myself money and time.
  13. I am still using it mainly to help with wetspots and to "harden" the wax a little. I've tested it with FO that did not throw as well and found that it did indeed improve the HT. It certainly does not hurt and it is inexpensive so I think I'll keep using it in my soy.
  14. Thank you for all of the suggestions! I will check them out.
  15. I have yet to try BCN FO's because you either hear really good reviews or really bad. My money is a little short right now so I have to choose wisely. :embarasse I use C3 and a 50/50. I think I'll give some of those a try after I sell more of my property on Ebay!! I haven't been here long either and I get nervous posting because there seems to be a lot of cranky people who have heard it all before and have short tempers. No names of course.
  16. It is strange how people can have completely different experiences with the same wax! Of all the soy waxes I tried, C3 was by far the best throw. I have never had a problem with the scent throw and I only use 1 oz pp. I use FO's from candlescience, lonestar and brighter scents. I have candles I made two months ago and they still have an awesome throw. I only ever heat up to 170 and normally pour around 150. I add the FO right before I pour. I use Eco and CDN wicks.
  17. Hi everyone! I've had someone request the FO Orange Blossom. She thinks it was a yankee scent about 10 years ago. My problem is that there are a lot of Orange Blossoms out there but I have no idea what it's supposed to smell like! Is anyone familiar with the original and have you come across someone who sells one that matches or comes close? (I'm using a 50/50 wax blend)
  18. My 4 year old loves to help me make soaps. Especially ones with animal or flower molds!
  19. I'm ordering some of the non-bleeding dyes from brambleberry. They claim that they don't bleed in M&P so we shall see! I'm always up for a challenge.
  20. I've had the same problem. I thought ordering supplies in PA would be cheaper but their shipping was more than out of state. I am contemplating driving to pick up but with the cost of gas it's almost as bad. :undecided
  21. I don't use a lot of dyes in my soaps. I've used a couple from "life of the party" from Michaels and I have not had a problem with bleeding as of yet. I tend to use products that natuarally color like honey or cinnamon/nutmeg etc. Sorry I can't be more help. :undecided
  22. About 1 out of 3 of my parasoy and all soy jars gets a wet-spot. Some seem to disappear or shrink after a few days. I'm with earthfriendly on this one, who cares. After spending months and months obsessing I went to a store that sold expensive soy and palm containers and lo and behold, some had wet-spots, That's when I decided I was being way to nit-picky.
  23. I just made a batch with this "Like CP" base from BB. So far, I'm not sure what to think. I made them yesterday afternoon and they are perspiring. It also seems to be leaking the FO I used. I don't use much, just a couple of drops so I am a little mystified by that. The only other thing I have added is Cocoa butter and CO I've never had problems with that. I'm going to let them dry for another day on a rack and see what happens.
  24. If you have no luck at a health food or organic store then you might try Brambleberry. I'm not sure if it is 1000 IU but they have a lot of the oils in liquid form. I just received and order from them and was quite pleased with their oils so far. Shipping was quite reasonable also.
  25. I use C3 and only 1 oz pp. It has a great hot and cold throw. Like stella, if it does not throw well with 1 oz, I don't use that FO. Of all the waxes I tested using more either didn't make a difference or contributed to more issues.
