  1. I just bought a soap base that advertises itself as Cold Process Melt and Pour from Bramble Berry. But I have 2 questions that I need help with as I am just starting out with soaps and my previous melt and pours were disappointing. 1. Do I still need to add CO to firm it up, so it doesn't melt away in a week like traditional Glycerine, and 2. How much FO is a good level to add? I haven't seen a recipie other than not too hot, stir and pour. Thanks for any help.
  2. My Jelly Jars are 2 1/2" wide by 3 3/4" high, and my Apothecary Jars are 3 1/4" mouth, but widen to about 3 3/4" through the body. They are almost 4" high (3" to where I pour). I have done burn tests for 1 hour per inch of width. I've even left them go longer, and still cannot achieve a full MP, or get a good scent throw hot. I'm using 1.5 oz. of FO per pound of wax (9%) which should be more than enough since GW says it can hold 12% or 2 oz. I'm just very agitated, and think it is my wicking.
  3. Has anyone used the Golden Brands 464 Golden Wax yet? I'm pretty new; and was experimenting with Cargill C-3, but my supplier said to try this new wax because it would throw better both ways. As if learning wicks wasn't enough, now I'm trying to figure out two waxes. I'm using 8 oz. straight jelly jars, and 16 oz. round apothecary jars, and haven't gotten 1 decent candle yet! ARGGGH! I have tried double wicking the 16 oz. jars with ECO 6, ECO 10, HTP 41 & 52 and nothing seems to work. I have been using the wick setter on the 2nd setting (1 1/2 ") too! I tried single wicking with an ECO 14, but no luck in either wax. On the 8 oz jars I've tried ECO 10 and got close in the C-3, so I am thinking that a 12 should do it, but I have no idea with the GW 464.
