  1. Carrie and Cindy, Thank you very much for your help. I'm going to go back to the drawing board this weekend and try increasing my FO to 7-8% and allowing them to cure for 3 weeks this time. If that doesn't work then I'm going to try a new vendor for my FO. Actually, I think that I may just go ahead and order some FO from them anyway. Thanks again for all your help! Cheryl
  2. I have only been weighing 1oz of FO per pound of wax. Do you think that extra .12 oz will improve my scent throw? Someone else had told me about using Peaks FO as well. I'm beginning to think that maybe its the quality of FO that I may have purchased. Since I live in PA I will defintely check out Candlewic since it will be closer for me for shipping. You have used Candlewic as well?
  3. Yes, I do my test burn on all my candles, measuring the burn pool, checking my wicks to see if I like how they are burning, etc. Then I start from scratch and make all new candles. I had heard for the C3 wax that you must let them cure. I let mine cure for 2 weeks before I burnt them. I just had someone else tell me that I should let them cure for 3 weeks.
  4. I add 1oz per pound of wax. Can you explain to me about the 8%, etc. How do I figure that part out?
  5. I too am having problems with soy...I'm not getting the throw that I would like to get. I'm still in the testing stages because I'm just starting as well, and I've been testing with an 8oz mason, 12 oz Morgan and a 16oz apothecary jar. My frustration is the lack of throw, and I even let my candles cure for 2 weeks prior to burning.
  6. I've actually allowed them to sit for 2 weeks and I still didn't get a good scent throw. Do you think it might be the quality of FO that I'm using?
  7. I'm new to making candles and I'm getting so much conflicting information from websites that I'm getting really confused. I'm using Cargill C3 soy wax but getting very little scent throw; both cold and hot. I heat to 180, add my dye and FO immediately and then pour at 140. Someone had told me that it might be the quality of the FO that I'm using and then I was asking a online customer service representative and she tells me that its the C3 wax that I'm using and I should try another and she suggested Ez Soy-125. Any suggestions on what I might be doing correctly or incorrectly?
  8. I have been using fragrances for Candles and Supples and another place called Supplies for Candles. Are you familiar with either of these places?
  9. I'm brand new to soy candle making. I can't seem to get a good scent throw in any of my candles. I use Cargill C3 soy wax. I heat to 180, add my color and scent and pour at 140. I add 1 oz to 1 pound of wax. What am I doing wrong? Is it the brand of fragrance that I'm using? Should I use oil or fragrance (please recommend). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!1
  10. I haven't made a candle yet and I'm just starting to get supplies. I'm using cargill C3 soy wax and would like a recoomendation on a good supplier to FO. The closest to me is Candles & Supplies in Quakertown and I'm heading ther tomorrow, however, I read a previous thread from someone that their oils don't give a good scent throw. Has anyone else had any trouble with the FO. Also looking for any recommendations for a beginner. Wicks,zinc/HTP, etc. Thanks!!
