  1. Made these for favours for my grandson's christening. People liked them so much...a couple were 'taken' from other peoples settings!!!
  2. I like the border...and I LOVE the same colour being used. I think it's elegant and won't detract from the product. I am supposing the space will be used for the name of the product? Don't overfill the space Sparky....it's a classy label Cheers, Hells
  3. Hi guys, I'm thinking of getting some container Palm Wax..not the feather, crystal or lava type...just the plain old normal type. Has anyone any idea if container Palm wax makes as good a candle as soy? I have tried Palm Pillar, and whilst the candle looked nice, it's scent throw wasn't anything to write home about. I have an opportunity to buy this Palm wax ONLY in a large quantity, i.e. 50pounds, so I dont want to get it and then find out it's hopeless. PLEASE tell me your experiences Cheers, Hells
  4. How about a hurricane that is a bowl shape with 7 floating candles in it? The bowl could have a nice verse on it??? Cheers, Hells
  5. Mmmm I tried this also. The hearts moved everywhere...I ended up with wax everywhere, definately not easy. Think I'll give this a miss.
  6. I;m going to have a go at making these also. Just ordered a couple of large and small square/cube jars. I'm going to make the hearts out of paraffin and use soy for the burn. Do you think that'll be ok? Cheers, Hells
  7. Update on my testing: CDN 8 - double wicked didn't get a full melt pool and the wicks kept going out CDN 10 - double wicked a little better but too much wax left over, not a full melt pool and one wick kept going out (both the CDN8 and 10 I burned 2 candles each and both got the same result CND 20 - not big enough CDN 22 - not big enough either I'll next try CDN 24 and 2 x CDN 12's if neither of them work I'm going to try the 10oz metro jars and see if I can wick those I love the look of this blend so I'll just have to keep on testing Cheers, Hellen
  8. Mine look good too...you're pouring at areally low temp? I dont fill mine over the lines (sometimes accidentally) and they look good. Mmmm wonder what the cause could be?
  9. Hi Guys..... All of them still look wonderful. Going to start burning this evening...I just cant wait any longer!!!! lolol I poured some melts with the left overs and really like the way they look. They're shiny, popped out wonderfully..... Will tell all tomorrow when I have tested a couple. Cheers, Hells
  10. Hi guys, tested some more...and I just poured the wax when it was hot...didn't take note of the temp..but it was hot...and they have all set up beautifully...now just have to see which wicks work best
  11. Hi, Can someone send me to a site where I can see what Glass Glow actually is please? We dont have it here (surprise surprise) so I have no idea. Cheers, Hells
  12. Hi guys, Trying new blends and thought I'd share...... 60%soy (415) to 40%paraffin. Colour is great, scent retention is great...still testing all the different wick sizes but so far so good. The only problem I emcountered was that I waited for the wax to be kinda slushy and ended up with air pockets EVERYWHERE. Had to remelt in the oven and then let them set. Does anyone know what temp roughly I should start pouring at? I'm basically lazy...lolol...so with just the 415 I wait til it gets kinda slushy and pour away. Great tops, adhesion etc....but with this blend I'm obviously not going to be able to do that. Cheers, hells
  13. Hi, Yes, it's the Soapmaker program I bought from Bitter creek actually. I just cant see where I put in the total amount that I want for my recipe. I'm hopeless, hopeless, hopeless. Cheers, Hells
  14. Hi guys, Can anyone suggest a reasonable substitute for PKO? Also, I cant seem to convert a recipe that I put in the soapmaker program with percentages. I went to the 'help' menu and it said to place the total amount of weight required in the bottom of the 'amount' column...but I just couldn't do it? Someone help please?? Cheers, Hells
  15. Thankyou..... I often make candles in the jar...all soy though. I use CDN 20 or 22...or 2 x CDN's 8's. I'll test with those and see how I go for a starting point. Thanks again Cheers, Hells
  16. Hi Trapps, Bitter Creek has a whole lot of info on which scents mix with cyclo. It's cheaper for me to but the diffuser sticks from you guys than from here...can you believe that??? 100ml bottle for me to make up costs me just under $9 to make. Cyclo here is around $30 a litre (not quite sure what that is in your system), and fragrance oils are roughly that price as (depending which ones I buy). Then the price of the bottle, reeds, labels etc My email is hellenr@optusnet.com.au I've done a lot of research on where to buy things and I think I know the cheapest place to buy the reeds from Cheers, Hells
  17. Hi Trapp, I make them 50/50 and I use 10 reeds per bottle. I would sell them at the higher price.......Here in Aussie lots of places sell them cheaper than what I do but mine last for approx 6 months and many of the others don't. They aren't the cheapest things to make, so you might as well make some sort of decent profit from them. When I first place the reed sticks in the bottle I leave them for 15mins and then turn them around. I do this off and on to refresh the scent. Cheers, Hells
  18. Hi guys, I'm wantint to try 50/50 soy and parrafin....as well as 70/30 Soy Parrafin. I use 415 and 10oz apocathery jars. Wicks that are available to me here in Aussie are ECO, CDN and HTP. Can you please help me in suggesting which type/size wick to start testing with please? Cheers, Hells
  19. Hi guys, I bought some powder dye from onestopcandlesupply cheers, Hells
  20. After buying NUMEROUS products to cut wicks and NOTHING worked wonderfully, easily and consistently.....I went and bought some thin nosed wire cutters. They cut perfectly, easy to handle, super sharp (so no fraying)....and to boot they cost me $5 at the market in the tool section. One of my BEST buys yet. Cheers, Hells
  21. How about a drill punch? The one I have is same size hole as a normal hole puncher, unsure if they come in smaller sizes. Just place the lid where you want the hole and turn the handle. Cheers, Hells
  22. Hi Guys, I want to make round 41mm labels. I have a template but I need to use Adobe (there is another template but I can't use that one either). Does have an EASY (for idiots) template? I can print them? I am STUCK STUCK STUCK. I have templates for: 41mm / 1.6 " 57mm / 2.2 " 65mm / 2.5" 71mm / 2.8" Cheers, Hells
  23. I use a 12 Inch Sealer. It would depend on what you were mostly going to be sealing to which size you would need. The most important thing, in my opinion, is to make sure you buy one with a cutter. Soooo much easier and the end finish is soooo much better. I bought 2 before someone gave me this valuable advice. Cheers, Hells
  24. Thankyou so much for your replies. I am wanting to do swirls.....about 1kg of soap ...have no idea what that is in ounces perhaps around 30? smallish batch anyway. ANy idea on how much I should use just as a starting point? Cheers, Hells
  25. Hi guys, Can someone explain to me the differences between oxides and ultramirines? Is one better than the other? I bought 3 x ultramrines (pink, blue and purple)...what do I mix them with before adding the batter? Can I mix utltramiarines and oxides together??? Hopeless, I know....just when you think you have this soapmaking down pat...you want to try something else. I guess that's why I am ADDICTED...hehehhee Cheers guys, hells
