  1. Cinnamon and sandalwood is very nice and a great thrower as is the pumpkin vanilla. The bedtime bath is very true to the original J&J scent and throws very well. Just about all of Loren's scents have thrown very well for me and the price is just right. HTH
  2. OK, I've got C-1, Ky parasoy for tarts (just got this in and have read it has changed, so not so sure about this one), Ky 125 cottonseed/soy blend, IGI 4794, Ecosoya CB 135, Ecosoya CB Xcel, J-50, J-223 and some straight IGI 2281. (I know, I know, I've got waaaay too many waxes, but most were smaller sample sizes to test with) I've read through all the threads I can find and many say to use a combination of paraffin and soy. Based on these waxes, where would you start? I mixed the 4794 with the CB Xcel 70/30 and got a good tart. I'm going to start testing it tomorrow and see how long it lasts. I also thought about mixing the KY parasoy with the IGI 4794. What are your thoughts about another good combo to outlast the "everywhere, in your face, at all the craft shows, givin' samples at the Fair" Scentsy clamshells.:rolleyes2 Thanks guys!
  3. I love Green Irish Tweed alone, but have mixed it with bay rum (in candles only) and it smelled very nice, too. HTH
  4. How do you guys package your soaps? What do you feel is good economically as well as is good presentation for your soaps regarding packaging? Thanks everybody!
  5. There are several, but the ones I really like are from WSP, Brambleberry, and Aztec.
  6. I want a sweet creamy vanilla I can use alone or to mix with. I currently use vanilla extract from BCS, which I really like, but I still am looking for the elusive perfect vanilla for me. I DON'T want any buttery, coconut, musk, or floral notes--just sweet and smooth and a strong thrower. I have tried many and I don't want the very vanilla from CS, which smells the same to me as several other out there I've tried. It's a great scent, just not what I'm looking for. Out of the thousands upon thousands of vanillas, what do you think I should try? Thanks everybody!
  7. I've enclosed this information from the Camden-Grey website about their Lavender 40/42 eo from France: "The numbers in Lavender 40/42 indicate the linalyl acetate content; in this case, they indicate the product contains 40%-42% of linalyl acetate. Lavender 40/42 is generally a blend of various lavenders in order to get a consistent scent from batch to batch, with processors adding linalyl acetate to cover the smell of camphor or borneol components of a given lavender. Most soapers seem to prefer Lavender 40/42 because it smells the way they believe lavender should smell and it's fairly inexpensive......about half the price of other, more expensive lavenders." I like it because it is consistently the same and to me, true-smelling (herbaceous and medicinal) from batch to batch. HTH
  8. orange-cranberry, Christmas Splendor, apple jack & peel, winter spice, gingerbread, cinnamon-cranberry (anything cranberry). I know you don't want pine-type scents, but I must mention sugared spruce--LOOOVE that scent!
  9. The sugar cookie is good, but it does have some spice to it, so if you're looking for a straight up buttery sugar cookie, BCS is not it. That being said, the sugar cookie is fabulous, as is the scratch cake, citrus splash, strawberry jam, cucumber, melon medley, and white chocolate. I know there are more I like, but those come to mind at the moment. HTH
  10. I have tried numerous straight limes, lime freeze, lime cooler, key lime, etc., and they all either smell like Sprite or 7-UP, lemon, lemon-lime, or have a weird fake smell or undertone. Is there a true lime out there somewhere calling my name? Thanks everyone!!
  11. Oh, I meant 1 TBS. per pound of soap. Thanks Candybee--I appreciate it!
  12. I've never used essential oils in soap (only in candles) and I usually use 3/4 to 1oz. fragrance oil per pound of M&P soap, but I've read to use less essential oil. How much of the lavender 40/42 should I use per pound of soap? Thanks everybody!!
  13. It's a nice peppermint vanilla mint. I use it in my paraffin/soy blend at about 8% with no problems. The oil does have color to it, so don't leave it uncolored unless you want the dreaded "yellow" snow. HTH
  14. I like southern vanilla from Ky and vanilla extract from BCS.
  15. Oh wow--you guys please post to let me know if Bert's is the same--much less $$. I may just use that as an excuse to order some more samples from her--LOL!
  16. I think these 2 scents from Elements and Southern Scentsations, respectively, are similar and I really like them both, but don't want to invest if they don't sell well. I know that just because I like it doesn't mean everybody else will. Do any of you use either of these scents, and if so, how do they sell for you during the holidays? Thanks everybody!!
  17. Have never made CP soap (but plan to after the holidays), but Oregon Trail has a wonderful soap safe pumpkin pie that is very nice and spicy in candles. I plan on putting it in my M&P soap soon. And, it's on sale right now.
  18. I personally love pink sugar from ICS, KY, or TCS, coconut lime verbena from RE/AH, and grapefruit vanilla from Bluegrass (too bad this one isn't strong enough in my candles). What do you guys love in soaps, lotions, bathbombs, etc.? Thanks!
  19. Wow! Gorgeous! Great job!! When I first looked at it, it almost looked like something in the background reflecting off silver soap. Incredible!!
  20. I used the one from TCS for several years--one of my personal favorites (threw well and was a nice true scent)--it sold pretty well, but not great--I don't know why. I finally discontinued it, and, lucky me, I kept all the ones I had left to burn for myself. Maybe I'll revive it and see how it does. Good Luck!
  21. I have tried both and I LOVE the one from JS--it's great alone or as a mixer. The one from ICS was good, too, but not as strong. HTH
  22. I have an old sample of Key lime pie from Shaw Mudge that is really nice. Unfortunately, the Ky sample I have is not the same. I also loved Shaw Mudge's apples and pears scent--I haven't found another one that is the same.
  23. Is there any other supplier other than The Scent Works that carries Shaw Mudge's fragrance oils? Thanks!
  24. Thanks guys! I actually got a sample of that several weeks ago and haven't tested it yet, so I dug it out this morning and am pouring samples as we speak.
