  1. I did a search and read through the threads about a pink sugar dupe. The ones mentioned most were ICS and Peak's. I was wondering if anyone has tried anyone else's version. I have the ICS version on order. Just poured RE/AH one yesterday, but it was a little weak when test-burning today. It's a true dupe, but just not strong enough (may have to let it set a few days and before re-burn). Any suggestions on a really STRONG and TRUE dupe of this that has strong throw in candles but is also B&B safe? Thanks all!
  2. I've been making candles for years now, but was wondering, do those of you that do both B&B products as well as candles use the same pricing parameters for both kinds of products? I calculated the cost of my lotion bars and was going to simply retail them using the same method I use for candles and wanted to make sure that was acceptable. Thanks!
  3. Thanks everybody! I've ordered samples of KLP based on your suggestions!
  4. OK, I finally got the lotion bars like I want them and I'm using the 0.75oz sticks to put them in, so I want to make some nice professional-looking labels for them. Where do I go to do this? Please keep in mind I am somewhat computer-challenged so I need something pretty user-friendly with great step-by-step instructions without costing a fortune. Thanks everybody!
  5. What is your absolute favorite, non-fuel smelling, strong-throwing key lime pie/cupcake, etc. scent? OK, I LOVE sugared spruce, but don't know if it will sell well alone, so was wondering what to try with it. I've tried cinnamon, orange and cranberry already. Any other suggestions? The good thing is, if it doesn't sell, I'll burn them ALL for myself--LOL! Thanks everybody!
  6. Thanks everybody--going to CS to order now! And, I do need a few things from ICS, so I'll get a sample of the fresh strawberries, as well.
  7. OK, I have tried BCN and WSP strawberry jam fos--both are very good, but was wondering if there's a strawberry scent out there that is more true to the fruit that would be better to mix with a cake scent for strawberry shortcake (or with kiwi, or banana, etc.). What are your thoughts? :undecided
  8. I got my order yesterday with the printed invoice, but the totals were marked out and adjusted in red ink for the sale, so I knew how much was charged to my credit card. HTH
  9. I love Starrville as well. I use their kumquat, raspberry guava and Christmas Splendor. They are strong, true and I've always had good customer service with them. HTH
  10. WSP is a very good, dup., while Rustic Essentials/Aroma Haven is a close second.
  11. ChrisR, do you get any fuel scent with the one from Brambleberry/Cybilla? Thanks!
  12. Thanks Scented and pcbrook. I've tried several hibiscus fos and not even close to LS. I will order a sample of the BCN hibiscus and thai palm--haven't tried that one yet. There's always hope!
  13. It is so frustrating to test and test, get a scent that sells well, re-order it regularly, then all of a sudden it's discontinued. I LOVED the palm wood & hibiscus scent from LS, but went to order it the other day and it wasn't on the website. I contacted them and they discontinued it and have none left in stock. That was my best-selling floral scent--AARGGHH! OK, just had to vent. I feel better now. . . . .
  14. Thanks for the information! I appreciate it:) The perfumer's alcohol worked fine (my first attempt). It mixed well--I let it sit overnight. When I smelled it in the bottle, it was a strong alcohol smell, but when I sprayed it on the skin, the alcohol evaporated off rather quickly and the scent seems to linger. I also added a few drops of glycerin to the mix. HTH
  15. Thanks Candybee! Where is the CB135 from? Is that the container blend from Candlewic? I may have some of that around here somewhere. I don't mind repours--I already do them anyway, so that's not a worry. Do you mind if I ask what type of wicks you use? Currently, I'm using zincs, but am considering re-testing the CD wicks. Just a thought. . . . .
  16. Sweet pumpkin pie from Heartfelt and Pumpkin bread from JS. HTH
  17. Which do you like best--6006, J-50, J-223? I used the 6006 years ago when it was DC 5766, but switched to the J-50 when I got some bad batches. I make my own paraffin/soy blend using the J-50, straight paraffin and soy. I'm also considering the new Xcel--what are your thoughts on soy--GB, Xcel, Ky125? Right now I use the Ky125 with J-50 and straight paraffin, but I just know I can get a better throw with a different combination. I've tested over 350 different scents (7 different suppliers) this summer and the majority were not strong enough at 1.2oz/lb wax, so I know it must be the combination I'm using. Also, I've seen many posts about using coconut oil--how much do you recommend per pound of wax? Any thoughts? I feel like I'm starting all over.:undecided
  18. I found another website that says it's OK to use the perfumers alcohol for body spray, just in a higher concentration to offset the lower concentration of fragrance oil, so I gave it a whirl. The body spray turned out pretty good, once the alcohol evaporated off. Now, I need to try the oil-based version and compare.
  19. OK, I finally found the invoice (dated January of this year) and the company was Scent-sations. Every time I try to go to their website, I get blocked and a red box pops up saying "reported attack page". Does that mean the supplier has gone out of business? I've never had this happen before, so just wondering. Some of the samples were really nice and strong.
  20. It's about 2 pounds and it says "5464F" on it, is in a thick pellet/flake form, and is a natural color (i.e., not white) . I tried googling it but didn't find anything. Does anyone know what kind of wax this might be? I was hoping it was beeswax, but I honestly can't remember. Thanks!
  21. Can you add a specific liquid oil to make lip balm/lotion bar base soft enough to become a thick body butter without compromising the other ingredients? If so, which oil and how much in ratio to the lip balm/lotion bar base? thanks!
  22. Besides attempting a body spray, I'm also going to make myself some perfume using 20% fo with perfumers alcohol and glycerin. Can I put this in an aluminum spray can or do I need to use glass? Is plastic safe at this concentration? Thanks again everybody!!
  23. I mainly make candles and have made some lotions and lip balms in the past, but never body spray. I've been searching and found some recipes for body spray. (I'm making it for my son) I've got recipes using polysorbate 20 or cyclo. The ingredients I have on hand are: cyclo, polysorbate 20, perfumers alcohol (from Snowdrift Farms), glycerin, distilled water, and body safe fragrance oil. The formula I'm going to use is: 80% perfumers alcohol 15& cyclo 5% fo But, I read on Snowdrift Farms website not to use less than 20% fo when using the perfumers alcohol, so I don't know if this formula will work. Anyone know why it wouldn't work with 5% fo? Also, I was wondering if I should use the polysorbate 20 instead of the cyclo--any advantages/disadavantages to either one? What is the main difference between them? Any thoughts on this formula or suggestions for a better one? Thanks everybody:cheesy2:
  24. Chemessence has a wonderful Christmas Memories scent--one of my absolute favorites! Just Scent carries a very similar scent called winter spice. Good Luck to you! I know what that's like--it becomes a quest of sorts to find the scent!!
