  1. Daystar has a brown sugar that is very true (no maple notes)--I've added cinnamon as well as clove and buttercream and it smelled yummy.
  2. Thank you Kim! I had never heard of Alpine Aromatics, so I went to their website and made a request. We'll see what happens. In the meantime, I'm going to keep testing and mixing, along with testing fos for fall and winter.
  3. Thanks so much everyone! I've since tried a couple more key lime pie scents and still haven't found "the one" I really like yet. I have tried a few blending ideas and some were pretty good, but still not quite what I'm looking for. I've got to place some orders, so I think I'll be purchasing some pie crust, graham cracker and lime scents along with some more KLP scents to do more testing. I appreciate all the suggestions--keep 'em coming!
  4. I really liked the pumpkin carrot streusel--more straight pumpkin than spice or bakery in this one and it threw very well for me.
  5. Spiced apples & peaches, apple mango tango, cinnamon frosting, peach magnolia raspberry, pomegranate, Love Spell, pink sugar, vanilla bean noel, and cinnamon stick--all excellent scents with excellent throw in my parasoy blend.
  6. I placed an order and received an e-mail when the order was shipped. I got another e-mail later that said, "we have pulled a few fragrances for reformulation based on feedback we were getting . . . .orange peel & cinnamon, apple jack & peel, and sun & sand. .. . " I was also told new scents would be added Monday if I wanted to look at those and replace the 3 that had been pulled. Just thought I would update on my order status.
  7. I like the cranberry compote but LOVED the cranberry cardamon & clove. I also like the cucumber chaos, orange tea & crumpets, coconut macaroon, and winter woodlands whisper. All the scents I've tried from CC are very strong.
  8. I've looked through past posts to see favorites from Scentworks, but was wondering if any of you had favorites from there that you just don't feel you can find an equal to from any other supplier either in throw, uniqueness of scent, or trueness to a dupe. I'm looking for scents for both candles and b&b products. Thank you!
  9. I really like the hot apple pie, buttercream cookies and her sweet potato pie is very nice.(similar to NG but threw better for me than the one from NG) I'm still in the process of testing several more from ME.
  10. I'll definitely be getting spruce Christmas tree and buttermint candies.
  11. LS is the one I currently use--it has sweet notes, but I don't detect much, if any, citrus. There are some underlying floral notes but they're not overpowering in any way--just a nice balanced fragrance.
  12. I make container candles with my own blend of paraffin and soy currently and am considering switching to a different soy/veggie wax--always looking to improve product. I also make clamshells but use another formula for them. My original question was with regard to container candles. Didn't mean to cause anyone any problem--was just curious about the hot throw of those 4 particular waxes. Thank you everyone for your recommendations and input--as always the board is very helpful!
  13. Yes, Caribbean coconut from the Candle Source and LOVE the coconut milk from MMS.
  14. Yes, I am going to mix with paraffin so I'm not as concerned about frosting at this point and just wanted to start with the hot throw issue and go from there. Thanks everybody for all your help!
  15. I was wondering, if scent throw was the only characteristic you were testing, which of these waxes would you choose for hot throw--Naturewax C-3, Ecosoya CB 135, GB415, or GB464? Thanks:)
  16. It's my understanding that Just by Nature sold their business to Southwest Candle. The scents, descriptions, and waxes are the same as Just by Nature (although the numbers assigned to the waxes are different since the name of the company has changed) If this isn't right, somebody please chime in. I've used several of JBN scents in the past and was pleased with all except the orange-vanilla. It smelled wonderful but I never could get it to blend with any wax or percentage I tried--the scent always sunk to the bottom.
  17. Camay, which wicks do you have better luck with--I get lots of mushrooms and soot with the zincs, too, and am considering trying the CDs. Thanks!
  18. Did they have the same fos as Just by Nature? If not, did another company buy them out? Thanks!
  19. I agree Barb--I used several of their scents and was so disappointed when they closed shop.
  20. I actually posted this same question in the past on the board and I've tried over 8 different pink sugar dupes. I'm currently using the one from the Candle Source which is very similar to ICS, TCS, and Daystar's version (could probably get away with using these interchangeably) in my candles. NG and Maine-Erie are both good, too. I haven't tired The Scent Works' version, although it always gets rave reviews (just don't want to spend the $$$ right now). I didn't care for MMS and although Peak's and Bert's are both nice, just not quite as strong as I'd like. RE/AH has a dupe that is very similar to the original--it wasn't strong enough in candles but is so very nice in MP soap and lotion. Hope I'm not confusing you more--LOL! Good luck!
  21. I've tried many and got a fuel smell with many of them. Someone on here, ChrisR, I think, suggested Genwax's and I LOVE it!! No fuel, true scent and good throw (but unfortunately, not b&b safe). I also liked summer dreamsicle from Lone Star (don't know if they still carry it, though)--it wasn't a true orange/vanilla, but it was a very nice scent, and no fuel. The closest Trapp version was from Willow Woods, but again, I got the dreaded fuel smell with that one. I'm sure if it's b&b safe, it would be wonderful in soaps, lotions, body sprays, etc. HTH
  22. Thanks everybody! That gives me some idea of where to go to next!!
  23. Thanks jackbenimble. I've tried their key lime cupcake and just wasn't strong enough, but I don't believe I've tried their key lime pie:)
  24. OK, I've tried numerous KLP scents, including but not limited to ICS, BCN, BCS, LS, and Ky--some were nice but just not strong enough or were strong enough but not true to the name. I was thinking of trying Maine-Erie's version (man, do they have a lot of in-house blends--anybody tried any of those yet that you really love?) Does anybody have any other suggestions for key lime pie scent that burn without the dreaded fuel smell and that are true to the name? Thanks everybody!
