  1. I test my candles in my dining room in a backing pan, a deep pan just in case something happens. My DD is in the same room watching TV. I've gone out to smoke, but never in my wildest dreams would i ever think about leaving the house for longer then the 5 minutes i'm smoking, and even then i'm looking through the window at the candle. you got LUCKY
  2. I wonder what the power bill at eBay looks like with the massive server farm they have to have to handle what they do. I recieved an e-mail from my hosting company for my websites letting me know of the increase in their load and that the board of directors and other key members of the company are in talks about prices because of the increase cost to operate. These guys are the biggest hosting company in the UK, and are growing massively now here in the US. Anyone look at their power bill lately? I know mine has gone up.
  3. Thanks all, i'll see what i can figure out tomorrow night.
  4. I'm test burning a new combo and i realized i cut the wick to short...I first had it to long, huge flame and smoke, so i blew it out let if cool and trimmed the wick...sadly it's too short the flame is small and after 2 hours i'm looking at a melt pool that's barely half the jar. What do you do when you trim it to short? 4630 wax HTP83 wick 8oz apothecary jar
  5. I bought a scraper and it works nicely. I'm making small batches for proper testing so it's perfect.
  6. My rodeo was big enough for all of our store stuff plus tables, but only i could fit in, my DH and DD took the DWs car.
  7. I need to get a different container to store this wax, I was thinking the scraper thingy might work better for me. I do know i'm going to have to melt all the wax off the screwdriver tomorrow
  8. hmmm, Candles and Supplies has those trimmers they rock.
  9. okay so i got my new wax yesterday and tonight i'm trying to break it up. this stuff is gooey how do ya'll break it up?
  10. I'm finally taking this advice myself, I just bought some 4630 and a sample pack of HTP wicks and one set of jars. I've been playing around with other jars and have become unhappy with my "testing" so i'm doing it right. Denise, if you take Tops advice and Bizzy's advice and read, don't just ask for the answers on a plate it's more satisfying to learn and see the results from your own learning.
  11. didn't we have the wick discussion in this thread? http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?p=614010#post614010
  12. i thought it was TL-15, and i've been doing it wrong this whole time.
  13. you still haven't given us the info on wax and wick type, without that info it really makes it hard for us to give you much more advice.
  14. those of you in business where do you put your testing candles at in your tax forms? Do you put it into the personal use area?
  15. http://www.simple-start.com/index.htm Search for ManageMore on e-bay the platinum edition is $44.95, it comes with a POS system, a B.O.M ability, general ledger for taxes and all kinds of other bells and whistles that i'm still trying to figure out.
  16. np bizz, it's my fault for not being clear, my DW hits me every time i ask questions without clarification.
  17. that makes sense, thanks for the help
  18. have you checked your hosting package? I know mine comes with one.
  19. i figured evaporation from the heat may play a part in the wax disappearing, that's why i asked. part of me paid attention in science class.
  20. Thanks Bizz, i guess i'm asking about time and such, same 4 hours on the warmers, and do you test until scent is gone or until wax is gone?
  21. I've got a couple of smaller jars i want to make wickless as well as use left over to make tarts. How do you test them?
