Actually... Never said I had a "formula" for both that worked well. What I did say was... I was thinking about going to CB135 because same as you, I am not getting much HT with CBA. I am thinking about going to a different brand of Soy all together because I have about had it. I don't know what I am doing wrong but it just isn't working for me. I know there are candle makers out there that just make paraffin and that may be what I have to do. Also something I learned on here, you may have just gotten a bad batch of wax. But I am no expert so I am not going to offer any advice. Sorry.

I tried to make A wax dipped bear. Bought long haired scraggles from BCSouth. Used 1250. The bear came oue, rung out all the wax and tried "fluffing" the fur but all I kept getting was balls of wax that I couldn't get out. What did I do wrong?

Don't bang your head on your counter you might tip over your jars!!!! The walls work a lot better.... believe me.... I am speaking by personal experience. That's good you figured it out though. It's funny how even the smallest detail effects the candle overall. I am learning that on a daily basis. Thanks for the info, by the way, now I know to pour 4630 at 160 when I start using it again.

her posts says she heated to 175 and poured at 160.

How much did you add? And do you take away some of the wax in place as to not overload the wax?

I have been using IGI1250 for my experimental tarts and they seem fine but there might be something out there better. Who knows I could be making them wrong.

I am have been researching this a little but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I could be using the wrong key words too, who knows. Anyway, when adding coconut oil to wax do I take that amount of wax, just like how I add FO or just add it to the batch without subtracting any wax. It seems logical to me I would subract the amount from the wax but I want to make sure.

I am having trouble with this wax too FlameyJamie but I read in researched posts that a lot of people use coconut oil to enhance the scent throw. I am thinking about trying that. i was using 10% too but my candles sweated out the oil and still don't get a good HT. So today marks a new day. I am going down to 6%, 7% at the most. So I am passing on some good advice.... Take your fragrance down. I know it is hard to let a candle cure. I have absolutely no patience and especially when I get a new scent it's hard not to light them but in the end it's worth it. When I light them too soon I don't get good results and get discouraged. You'll save yourself a lot of hell and hardship if you wait. HTH

Thanks BizzyB. I have come to the conclusion that is what I am going to have to do. I researched threads on here and actually saw one in the Vegie forum that gave me a lot of answers that it may just be impossible to single wick this jar. I get split opinions on double wicked jars. Some people say it's pretty, others say they know it just means the wax will melt better and leave no hang up, others hate the look. Even had an aunt tell me it was the manufacturers way of burning the candle faster, thus making you need to buy another sooner. I told her that was not true. Thanks though, I appreciate it.

I am hesitant to ask this because replies to my threads have been "not-so-nice" at times but I am at wick's end (ha ha.... get it?)Anyway... I have a strawberry scented batch of wax. CBadvanced. Started at 10% FO but couldn't get it to burn right so took that down to 7%. In other containers it has burned great, so I moved on to bigger. I have a 6" tall, 3.5" wide Apothecary Jar. I have done everything I can think of to wick it. CD's have been working well with me so I started with 22's and went down from there. So far still no luck. I realize this might have to be double wicked (which I hate) or scrapped all together. Any suggestions before I throw the jar across the room and pull out my hair?

I had the same problem. I just used a tad bit of red. Worked well.

I have noticed that too and had a similiar post somewhere. I am a lot harder on my candles than other people are.

What color would you make a candle that is scented midnight jasmin. I was thinking really dark navy but I am not sure. Help!

Oooh I haven't tried Lavender yet. Maybe I should. I know it is part of AromaTherapy lines. As you can see by my name I like Vanilla. Although a couple people laughed at me a while back because I asked what the difference is between Vanilla and FrenchVanilla regarding FO's. But I couldn't smell a difference. Oh well to each his own, or at least it should be. I like fruit smells. Strawberry being another favorite.

Welcome to the board, and welcome to candle making. I started because "someone" got me into it. And although that person wasn't really serious about it, I am. I am new too. I have been doing it about 3 or 4 months now. I love it. I have a few candles saved up now that have passed test burns. Good luck on your candles. What kind are you making?
