  1. I use straight paraffin(no stearic or vybar) I heat mine up in a presto pot(turn it to 200*) until it is melted, then take it's temp...I add dye, (@175*)then fragrance oils(i use .5oz.per lb)then stir, stir and stir....pour into already wicked container. Wicking was the hardest for me to understand.Whatever jar you are using...find out the width then wherever you buy your wicks, check the wick chart to see what size to use for that jar.You have to do this with every different jar you are using. Then write it down in a notebook! Personally, I would just work on one jar (usually 8oz.jelly jar) until you get the correct burn, wicking and fragrance. Each fragrance you have may be different size wick...so it is VITAL to TEST! HTH! Sorry so long..but I know what is like just starting out and you are really lucky to have found this board..I have been making candles for 8 years and 6 of them were in the dark, so to speak!!!! Good Luck..............................................Kimmeroo:cheesy2:

  4. They work for me! Try making one w/the cd12 then go from there...you may have to wick up on the heavier fo's...it's a start.Good luck!:smiley2: Kimmeroo:cheesy2:

  7. Thanks ForHisGlory!!!! I just started mixing fo's yesterday and ran across this thread! So helpful!!! I have been looking for a good"Woodland Cabin" scent...I had ordered it somewhere and have been trying to dupe it.So, I mixed, in a dixie cup, 1/4(of the dixie cup) cinnamon stix,1/4 spiced cranberry, the rest balsam! I think it turned out pretty good..but will still keep playing with it. Once again...Thanks!!!! Kimmeroo:cheesy2:

  11. What kind of wax are you using? I usually double wick using 2 CD 6's...if you are single wicking I would start at a CD12...using 100% soy. HTH.. Kimmeroo:cheesy2: DUH!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't see how old this post is!!!! Disregard my post!!!!

  24. Hi Cherish! I think that is a good idea! You will find out quickly which lid sells best! i switched from the dome to the flat and it worked out better! I don't like the wooden lids, the look is fine but they affect the scent of the candles...at least they do mine.HTH! Kimmeroo
