  1. I used that wax Stella and mine always take longer than that. It is humid here. I think that is why.
  2. The Candlemaker Store has the best one. They sell a lot of it. Talk to Steve that owns it. He will tell you to try it. Really good seller.
  3. I would go with Natures Garden. They have a good variety of scents. I have had a lot of luck with them. And they are a little cheaper too. You will need to test samples first. They, like all the rest have some duds. If you decide to use them, I will give you my list of scents that really sell well for me. I used more of their scents then any of the rest, and I have used a lot of suppliers. Hope this helps. Nice to meet some one from Australia. That is cool.
  4. Yes, I put it in soy, and it is awesome. Just like the melt. I have already sold quit a few. I love this scent. It is a Christmas type scent, but they loved it in August.
  5. I believe the size chart for these wicks are soy. That may be why they burned too fast. I have used 6006, and I use Eco wicks with my soy now. I do remember using them before with 6006. I don't remember any problems. But I didn't use them for a long time with that wax. I used an Eco 8 in a 9oz. jar. 6006.
  6. mac apple from CS, and use their cinnamon stick and make apple spice. Both great sellers. I haven't been able to sell apple pie for years. Don't know why. It smells great. But this apple and that cinnamon are top seller for me.
  7. I used to use them. But when they started running out of stuff 2 years ago, I quit. It has steadily gone down, I hear. My guess is they have lost their customers, and don't have the money to stay stocked. Just my guess. I hate to see that. Hope they can pull out of it.
  8. apple, in a deep red, just a touch of brown with your red. And the other, kinda of rust, also orange with a touch of brown.
  9. Lone Star has one that smells like cake and icing with a little coconut. It smells like a real birthday cake and I have had good luck with it for years.
  10. I have had candles in several salons, tanning salons, spas, etc. One wanted all natural smells, like lavender , orange, etc. The tanning salon wanted beachy scents. Others wanted them to match their decor. But thru the years, I have found that what is good sellers at the time, is the ones to buy. It doesn't have to match the salon. If that town is into Buttercream, that is what will sell.
  11. Drop the peach and add leather. Then it would be for a man.
  12. I am a lavender freak. I want the real smell of lavender. I found it. CS has the best. They put lavender EOs in theirs. It smells like the real thing. It is the closes to the pure EOs. Got to try this one.
  13. I love the mac apple from CS. I would use it for an apple orchard. It is just another name for apple.
  14. I added cinnamon stick to Pumpkin Souffle, OMG, they love it. Try Kys Plumberry Spice. It is incredible and will be great for Christmas, KYs pumpkim pie mixed with ky creme brulee has been my top seller so far, sweet corn pudding, also incredible
  15. I love the name. It would sell for me. I have one called Lady Bug, that really sells. I wouldn't change it. If you want to tone it down add something to it.
  16. Millcreeks Spicy Gingerbread is incredible in soy, I love Peaks Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, You can't beat CS Cinnamon Stick, and the one that is going to really sell is Kys Sweet Corn Pudding. That one is totally different and they are loving it. I went crazy and got a whole bunch from several companies. I am having a ball.
  17. They have a lot of good scents. Read the reviews. Try the best seller list. Can't go wrong with those. If you use soy, read the reviews. I use a lot of there scents too.
  18. I don't like the bitterness in most of them, so I use Lone Stars iced tea. It smells like fresh brewed ice tea, and sells well as green tea. It makes my mouth water.
  19. I got some NGs, but I don't like it either. I am having a hard time finding a great Orange Spice too. They stink, or smell like orange and that is all. I used to have an Orange Marmalade that was kick butt. I don't know who made it. DAH! I think it is our nose. I used to love orange clove. But now it smells funny.
  20. I think once you start pouring candles the oranges all smell like fuel. I have tried almost everything out there. I now use Millcreeks Sweet Orange and Chili Pepper. It is a true orange, no pepper smell. It rocks. I can still smell a little fuel, but none of my customers can. I sell out on this scent all the time. Try it. You can add vanilla or buttery vanilla to it and it is awesome too. You won't regret this one. Hope this helps. Just order 32 oz. of it.
  21. Ok, you ask for it. I have learned that because a scent is called a certain name, it does not mean that it smells anything like the name.:laugh2:I learned that all people are different.... They all smell different things in the candles.... I learned that if you have a yellow candle, and it has mulberry in it, they think it is lemon... All in the head... ALL people are candle experts because they made ice candles in school.... Every candle maker gets the bighead, because the customers tell all of us OUR candles are the best they ever smelled. Darn't, I wanted that one to be true.... I learned that now when I get home, I am ready for a shower to get the candle smell off of me..... I no longer can smell a single candle. Has to be 6 or more....... I learned that picking up wax cost money. My chiropractor loves me. And tells me to stop doing that too. ... I learned that if you spill this stuff, you can make a big mess on everything you have....... I also learned that dogs like to eat soy wax. He has the smoothest bowel movements too:rolleyes2 .... The more candles you make, the more friends you have. Seems like everyone wants a free one. .....Oh and just because a candle maker smiles at you at a show, does not mean that she will not tell all the customers how BAD your candles are. .....All in all I love what I do. I will always make candles. I am addicted.
  22. Kandlenuts, you got it. That is what I do too. I get great through. Hot and cold. I pour them hot, and cool them fast with fans in front of the air conditioner. This seems to makes them smoother. I always use that much in my candles. I know some are less. But this way, I know what they will do. Just my own way. :yay:I also love the CS scents.
  23. Now I don't know about palm wax. So I can't say. And yes, once in awhile one will come loose. That is from not pushing it hard enough in the bottom, or a really humid day. Glue Dots suck, the rolls are not much better, plus they are a mess with all those little tabs. Drives me nuts. I am stuck on Steve's. Wix and Wax carries them and Starrville Soaps. Not sure who else. Steve is cheaper. I stick things all over the house with them. The frig. They are hard to get off sometimes. Try them you will like them. If you just make a few candles then you have time to mess with all those steps. But I don't. One of my employees decided to put the stickers on all the wicks and put them back in the packages. OMG. Don't ever do that. I like to never got them unstuck.
  24. I use a container parrifin that has no soy. It does not take the scent away. It makes the scent stronger. I have always used 1.5 oz per lb. I am sure I could use less, but I pour so many candles, it is just easy for me to do that. I guess I am lazy. Using straight soy does not mean you don't have to use as much scent. Some suppliers are recommending 2oz. per lb. for soy. It always take more than parrifin. I like the little bit of parrifin, because it make the candles look much better. It increases the the throw, even in ones that are hard to get strong enough scent. I don't want to have to wait around for the wax to cool. I don't have to with this mixture. All I know, is I sell a lot of candles. The customers go crazy over them and come back for more. Must be doing something right for the last 10 years. There is more than one way to make a great candle. Remember that. Dive in and do your own thing. Put your heart into it and they will come out great.
