  1. I just ordered cases of lotion base in from BCN...received them the 2nd day after ordering.... and received my other box of items as well. I've ordered some of my FO's and jars from them for many years... never have had a problem.
  2. Hmmmm... doesn't say much. Will be interesting to see what the fine points really are....
  3. I use their Sweet Orange Chili Pepper, Hillbilly Homebrew and Christmas Cabin in EL soy/beeswax container blend... Great throwers...
  4. Those stand up pouches are cute.... how are they closed? Does that require a special machine?
  5. I have never washed jars...I've poured EL soy container blend for over 10 years...not had a problem with adhesion. If there is something visible in the jar, I use a baby wipe. Like Faerywren, I don't have the time to add washing jars to my production schedule or cost.
  6. We have a gal at one of our craft shows that sells something similiar to this... she makes them herself... her edges though aren't rough, so I'm gathering she must sand the tops of the jars somehow to make them smooth. Nice idea.. "Upcycling" is a big trend right now...
  7. Oh My Gosh... way too funny.... Jar?? What jar? LOL..
  8. I'm sorta thinkin this is another company that will "melt" itself down quickly. Seems many of these bizes go down the tubes rather quickly once saturated with sales reps that don't make the money they want. They have done me a load of business though...Many compare my tart warmers in pricing to theirs... it won't cost ya $50 for a wamer and 3 clamshells here. Plus my clam shells fly off the shelf at $4.oo each or 3 for $10....gosh even at 3.33 each I'm still making almost 5x cost of product.. gotta luv it.
  9. The biggest draw of customers into the store is my sidewalk board. I have something posted every day .. whether it's a sale..just new items... newest fragrance... sample our lotion today... etc. And I always tie balloons to the top of it to gather attention of those driving by. I can;'t tell you how many times someone has said.. I just saw your sign!! I also use Craig's List for my area...
  10. Yup..we did a "Black Friday" special. Ran ads in the newspaper, did a radio blip and ran special FB ads for our fans there... we offered 20% off holiday gift basket orders, buy 3 lip balms get one free, and buy 3 tart melties get one free. Melties flew off the racks,,, we picked up 56 gift basket orders.... was a good day and we'll be pouring lip balms next week, we sold our of several flavors... whoahhhhhhhh.. I love silly season..
  11. I pour EL container soy.... Love Sugar Plum Berries!! It throws well.. has a hint of berries and pine... sells very well in candles and in soap for us..
  12. Pouring this weekend... Pumpkin Log, Hillbilly Homebrew, Cranberry Woods, Roasted Hazelnut in candles and waxed melties. Dipping a few toilet papers in Pine and spiced cranberry FO's. Bears, bears and more bears... 30 in the works for this weekend and into next week.
  13. Yup.. I do it all the time...it's a great way to keep stock moving...
  14. Many of my wholesale accounts, started off as consignment. Especially in small stores. I agree with ks,, as long as there are solid terms, payment expectations, damages etc, drawn up in an agreement, I'd do it.
  15. Hmmm.. in my 12 years of candlemaking and umpteen shows a year, I have not had anyone ask for a scent from one of the Big Dogs... Gosh, maybe they're blown away by my own fragrances as I mix many of my own blends. Butttt.. thank you for the heads up,,, I have the perfect response should the question come along.... Y***me... Sc**t*y? Gosh, never heard of them... Many of my candles are made with my own blends,,I'm sure you'll find one that will be just what your looking for...**wink** I make too many of my own wonderful blends to try and dupe someone else... and if I use an FO that is close to something.. I rename it with my own name and let them try to figure out where're they might have smelled it before... grinzz... Are you doing hand crafted shows Blacktie?? or commercial and expo shows?? I'm wondering if the reason I'm not asked is because I do handcrafted shows only. I can see where you'd be bugged by the questions,, cripes,, your an entrepreneur with unique crafts and someone wants ya to "copy" someone else.. sheeesh.
  16. I absolutely LOVE Peaks and have found their oils work wonderful in EL Container soy. Yesterday morning I ordered mason jars and a couple of FO's I'm running short on... yesterday afternoon I received confirmation my order had shipped. Peaks offers superb customer service and have find their pricing competitive and many times, less than other suppliers for the products I use.

    clamshells

    Ditto.. I fill them up...
  18. Love the little shopping cart!!! How much are the scent singles?
  19. Love Peaks FO's.... I use only FO's that can be used in candles, soaps and skin products. Winter Wonderland, Sugar Plum Berries, Mango Peach Salsa, Lilac, Spiced Cranberries( renamed), Hyacinth, Lavender, Green Clover Aloe, Red Currant, Pomegranate. FYI - both Black Raspberry Vanilla and White Tea Ginger are candle, soap and body safe. I pour Enchanted Lites container blend in candles... all their FO's have great hot and cold throw for me. I'm envious... have fun at Peaks!!
  20. I agree... walk the show and see how things are going for other vendors. My experience with expo's is they're usually more of a freebie thing than big sales. At the expo's I've vended most of the gals are there to grab the freebie bag and indulge on samples. The expo you've mentioned is at a big sales time of year for the holiday, so I'd be interested hear if you see alot of buying... this could one of those big volume shows. The expo's I've done in the past are usually high ticket booth rent as well. Usually around the $600 for an 8x10, more for an endcap.
  21. Yup.. I do. I quit my full time job 2 years ago,, I still do some accounting/mailing/etc for a local business (bout 8 hours a week) the rest of my time is dedicated to my candle/gourmet/B&B biz. I started out with soy candles in 1999 (actually I stated making paraffin candles in the early 70's when I was a poor college kid and needed to earn extra money. My roomie and I made little candles in baby food jars and soup cans. The 70's was the era when everyone was trying to cover up some sort of smell coming out of dorm rooms,, end of story.. LOL) I added waxed critters in 2001. After attending many crafts shows (like 35 a year) I found there was to much "copycatting" in products, advertising etc. So I switched gears in the business and added "gourmet food" in 2003. I created my own recipe line that includes soups, breads, dips and brownies. There is alot of hoops to jump through and licensing needed to make foods to sell to the public, but the reward has been worth it. In 2006 my daughter graduated from college and partnered with me doing shows and making product. We added lotions to the line in 2007,,, 2008 added soaps and 2010 added lip balms. We took our time growing the biz,, customers are always looking for new products so we rolled them out one at a time. All of our products are made with locally grown beeswax, sunflower oil or dehydrated veggies, which is our niche in the market place. We've wholesaled for about 8 years and have been on the road at shows for the last 12 years. I could have never done this venture alone... God blessed with a family that was supportive of my dream... In my early biz years my kids were in high school..they worked with me at shows to help me set up and sell. In return they earned money to pay their car insurance and college funds were set up. Other times my mom came with me cause she didn't want me traveling alone, when kids had school things to do. My husband, sister in law and my daughter spent several weekends last year helping me put together a $5000 basket order. I could have never grown the biz without the help of so many others. For years we have been in everyone else's stores and boutiques across the state. Next month will open our own storefront boutique in our hometown selling mainly our products, plus a few friends that do some wood work, fleece, quilting and a few wholesaled dishes/textiles/decor. Gosh what a blessing that will be not having to carry products everywhere we go. Like bowling nights, shopping nights, getting our nails done nights, seems we're always meeting someone to deliver orders. Now they can come to us at the store. We will now have more storage space, to build more product, to do more fundraisers. We've done fundraisers for the past 6 years,, awesome way to sell product! We will still vend at our largest shows throughout the year (hard to pass up those $2000 a day shows) and we'll still be in the major boutiques that run from Sept - Nov in the major cities. Mom said she'll run the store when we're doing the shows, she's 77 and still crafting. Livin' the dream....
  22. I've had a PO box number for almost 10 years as my business address... however, use my home address for shipping in products... haven't had a problem at all with labeling it that way...
  23. Yummmm... is Pumpkin Streusel one of your own blends.. or is that from a supplier..?? Sounds intriguing.
  24. Awesome!! glad you had a great weekend in sales.
