  1. Well I have everything for Darwin's receipe, so that's a start. I'll mess around with it to come up with something. I jumped in on that CF co-op to get more oils as well. I just love Shea and Mango Butters, so those are most definitely a keeper for me, for right now. I tell ya working out a receipe for CP is hard work, the soapcalc is like my bestfriend right now along with the soapmaker's companion. When I finally soap this receipe I'll let you know how it turned out. Thanks again Scented you're the best!!
  2. I always get confused when it comes to hard oils and soft oils, especially when it's not a clear oil like jojoba. I did read Bunny's tutorial, and printed tons of pages from the Miller site. I do have some Olive oil maybe I can see where that could fall into the receipe. Maybe I'll try it for the heck of it, in the meantime let me look for Darwin's receipe. Thanks for the help Scented, Ms 10,000 and counting!!!lol
  3. yeah I had to play with the percentages a little because it wasn't conditioning enough for me...but here they are. Mango- 25% Avocodo-20% Palm Kernal-20% Shea-15% Babussu-10% Castor-5% Jojobo-5% I'm sorry cleansing was an 19 and not a 9 :embarasse
  4. Okay I have decided to try and create an receipe, and I need an experience soaper to tell me if I'm missing something. Do I have to many soft oils and not enough hard oils or is it to many hard and not enough soft or am I just plan ole losing my mind! My receipe consist of Mango butter, shea butter, avocado butter, castor oil, jojoba oil, babussu, and Palm Kernal Oil. I ran my receipe both through soapcalc, and the soapmaker. Overall, it seems like it will be a good bar. Hardness came to a 47, Cleansing a 9, conditioning a 45, bubbly lather a 24 and creaminess was a 32. However, I feel that I'm missing something, what it is I don't know. Now, when I finally make the bar, it will be unscented as I want to experience it's full qualities. Does this bar look okay, any suggestions or feedback is welcome. BTW, this will be produced in an 2lb mold for sarters.
  5. I use Ecosoya PB, and I personally love it. I use it for my votives and pillars.
  6. Donna, let us know how the 6/12 slab mold works out for you. I want that one as well as the mini mold. I'll just have to pay the extra amount in the prices as I won't be buying until the next week or so. Hopefully, working with the TOG molds will be better then me trying to findangle (sp) with parchment paper to make a liner for the wooden mold that I have. It takes me forever to line that thing!! I actually spoke with Paul the owner of the TOG etsy site, on another forum and he was really nice. Not only was he able to answer my questions but others who had the molds as well was able to back him up.
  7. Since this is a spring fundraiser, I would stick with the basics like a plain Vanilla, and Lavender, then I would use sweet pea, sun washed linens, maybe spring rain (peaks), love spell and maybe an apple fragrance (for example country apple-bbw dupe).
  8. No question is a dumb question ......I would divided portions of the soap in different containers and color than layer into your mold.
  9. You are giving me inspiration beau, for 2008 I want to make a body butter as well a lotion, I just hope it doesn't take me an whole year to finally do it.
  10. Congrats PA on your upcoming one year anniversary of not smoking!!!:highfive: As for me,my goals will be to market myself better than I have in the past, by getting my name out there which means I plan to have my website done and up and running, or at least part of it by June 1st. I want to participate in more swaps, try a new soy container wax either from Greenleaf or Golden Brands, and try my hand at making a lotion or scrub.
  11. Those are some very creative candles you got going on...I really like the last one, it's kinda psychadelic looking and the poinsetta candle is nice as well.
  12. I just luv pillars...Sabrina you did a really nice job...I just love the look palm wax gives.
  13. Brenda, those bars look wondeful, the color arrangement is great looks very neopolitan!!
  14. Sharon, as always your products are beautiful...I sure wish this was coming my way!!!
  15. I like the look of your tarts as well as the packaging of them. Good Job :highfive:
  16. These are some very good ideas!!! As for me, depending on the size of the order and how many colors or fo's I need, I may use several pour pots as I have 5...but then again I also I have a presto pot, that can melt all the wax I may need for one big batch, depending on the size. My motto is: Simplicity! So try to make your steps simple without damaging the quality of your candles and you might find it much easier to do larger orders.
  17. It's a shame, the colors don't stay as bright but regardless of that they are still beautiful!! Good job!!
  18. When I think of a spa basket, I think of the eo's: lavender, orange, eucalyptus, lemon, and pepperment. Wellington Fragrance, has some good eo's...here's a link to them http://www.wellingtonfragrance.com/Essential_Oils_C27.cfm?Page=1 Good luck!!
  19. I have it and it's been useful for me, if you're a newbie you may get a better use out of the book than a more experienced candlemaker who's been in the business for a while. Majority of the information in the book is more about running the business per say, than what wicks work well with certain containers or waxes. It's a nice book to add to your resources...I figure the more knowledge you know, the better informed your customers will be !! Just my for the day!!!
  20. Oh boy, I am game for this class....I can't swirl to save my life!! Thanks GG!!!
  21. Nice booth setup, everything is so neat and orderly and nothing seems out of place. I love the pics of your pumpkins, about how many did you bring?
  22. Your bags look nice, I think custom gift bags are the way to go IMO. Good marketing helps a business stand out from the rest, and I think your bags will do just that, congratulations!!!
  23. Good answer SoapersWorkshop, I need to keep your answer in mind.
