Ok, thought I would try some sort of design, but didn't know if it would work since my colored portions usually get so thick. I took Barb's advice and added a bit of water to it and it helped a LOT (thanks Barb! ). I decided to make some polka dots, and using a a bulb syringe (the kind they give out when kids get medicine) and it worked pretty good, not great like SoapFreak's masterpieces, but it's a start! Whaddya think?

If they're old, sometimes the scent will change/sour, and believe me you'll know it when you smell it. Definitely don't want to use those stanky FO's for ANYTHING! *Barf*

I've never made them, but have tried one and I didn't like it. The one I rec'd was "scrubby", I mean I could definitely feel the salt. I can also tell you that shaving and salt bars do not go well together! OUCHIE-the burning!!!!! And salt is drying to the skin-hence the reason one of the posters said it works wonders on her zits. I guess I just don't see the good of them. I'd much rather use a moisturizing sugar scrub.

Especially the estimated shipping, since I'm also in CA and really need to order some oils, that is really great to know.Also, on the palm, from what I understand, if you DON'T have the no stir type, you should be stirring it each time (if it gets slushy to liquidy) b/c the stearic will separate from it.HTH

Just so you know Sally, you don't have to use a stainless steel bowl for CP soaping. You can use glass, which is what I use (actually mine is a glass sauce pot, so it has a handle which really helps while pouring. ).

I'm confused! How much does it cost you to make one of these, including packaging, ink, etc. With your time figured in and without? Personally, although the packaging would draw me to your products (from a consumers POV), I think the box is actually a waste for a votive. I just think about the fact that as soon as someone buys that it goes into the trash (or recycle bin, if one does indeed recycle chipboard).

WOW very very nice boxes! Aren't they expensive though especially in the aspect of being for a votive? Did you have these professionally done or did you make them? I see that you have the scent name and description on there also, which would add to the cost (at least time wise etc.). I DO love them though!

If you make it more of a slurry, it's going to be harder to get out of the jar and harder to keep in your hands.Have you tried making an emulsified scrub?Mine is really thick, yet ver creamy, maybe something like that would satisfy both yourself and those that are wanting something a little more "moist". ??Just curious, do your oils settle on the top so that you have to mix it into the sugar for each application?Maybe not since you said you're not using that much oil. I'm pretty sure you will get that though if you add more oils to make it into a slurry.Not sure if that would be a negative issue for YOU-I for one can't stand that, hence the reason I tried the emulsified, and loved it so much I never looked back!

Did you use this yet? I'm anxious to hear how the "red" silk did in your soap? Did the color actually color your soap? I would think it would since it's obviously dyed silk.

Amen!! I've only used their scents when I purchased them here on the classies and one time when I got a GC for $20-could only afford a 4oz bottle + shipping! OUTRAGEOUS!

You may really only have two products (not including accessories) but if you fill up your table/area and really make it look inviting, I guarantee you'll get some sales. Maybe you could get some wick trimmers, and maybe some other accessories to add as "fillers". I made and sold tarts for the very first time at my open house last December, and sold them for $1 ea. (They are small dudes though-.7oz) and a dozen for $10. People mostly bought the dozen (mix of scents). The best thing to do is figure out how much they cost you to make and then go up from there. I'm excited for you, and applaud you for waiting on the bigger candles until you get them perfected. Too many people have just jumped into this and started selling "crap". We have nothing like that here but my cousin keeps telling me to come to her town and do the farmers market there (it's about 2 hrs. From me)-she thinks my products would do very well.
