  1. I had one "okay" show....but I only do one a year. Basically to get my name out there plus to go shopping, swap goodies, and have a day out while I make a little jingle. I didn't do spectacularly, but did okay. Frankly, the show I was at, there wasn't even that much there that was good enough to swap for. I was rather let down by the show itself. This was in an area that is near a large shopping plaza, so there was lots of traffic in the area that day. The signs for the event? Smaller than a real estate sign. I am not choosing this show again....I am going to try a different one next year, or maybe try the open house or home party route. This craft show stuff is for the birds anymore! I got stalked by the Mary Kay lady half of the show, and got to listen to dogs barking Christmas carols because I was near someone selling homemade dog biscuits. (They thought it would be cute to bring their tape player and play dogs barking out "Jingle Bells" & other tunes. By the end of the day, I was ready to jump the table and yank the plug out of the wall!!!! ) Edited to add: I think your prices are fair. It seems, this year, people thought they were going to flea markets instead of craft shows. Everyone wanted something for nothing!
  2. AH/RE's Birthday Cake is a must have! Their Southern Pecan Pie, Blueberry Muffins and Lemon Chiffon are also a few I have tried with great results. WSP: You MUST try Maple Pecan Streusel!!! It is super-strong and super yummy! I also liked their Snickerdoodle Cookie. NG: Iced Cinnamon Buns, Pumpkin Crunch Cake (doing well for me this year), Blueberry Flapjacks, Orange Juice Cake, and their Banana Nut Bread are winners. The only bakery fragrance of theirs that I didn't like was Granny's Pecan Pie. It didn't throw worth a flip in J-50 or OK6228 for me.
  3. Not to hijack, but has anyone else found this base to be extremely drying? After 3 days of testing my skin was so dry I went back to my handmade soap to give my skin a break! :undecided
  4. Before I have used some of those wooden crates from Pat Catans. This year, I tried the risers from Gershel Bros. and I must say that I am pleased! I got 5 of them for around $20. (before shipping) They are very sturdy for cardboard, and can be covered rather easily.
  5. Baby's Room from WSP is positively NASTY!! It smells more like a hospital room than a baby's room.....and I wanted to wretch every time I poured it. I ended up throwing away the rest of the bottle. I had tortured myself enough!
  6. I personally like NG's better, I'm in the minority here. IMO, BCN's was more overpoweringly "mixed berry". NG's is an even blend of blueberries, cake accord and maple. If you are looking for a "bang" of berry, then I would definitely go with the BCN one....but if you are looking for a TRUE blueberry flapjacks scent, NG is the way to go!
  7. I've used Joywax since it came out and I love it! I am one of the ones who got a bum batch lately....lots of frosting and cracking, but fixed with a little Crisco thrown in. Just pour a few test jars from each case and you should be good to go. (I guess that answers your question....the hot/cold throw is so good with Joy that I put up with that stuff just because it is that good and don't want to switch!! LOL)
  8. Last year I cut my four ounce bars in half and sold them at half price. I sold out of them! This year I wasn't going through the hassle and I guess I should have....I only sold ten bars of soap!!! Ugh, you had better believe I am selling the smaller bars next year....and handing out lots of business cards so they can buy them at full/size price from the 'site!
  9. Did you get the help that you needed? I fought with my Gershel Bros. display (same one you have) for ten minutes before the sweet little lady next to me came over....and with one bend solved my dilemma! I used mine as a three step display....the bottom portion has two flaps that fold under. The flat pieces that come in the box actually break apart and you bend those then insert the slots so that they make a nice step. Gosh, I hope I am not confusing you more! Just PM me if you still need help or e-mail me at asheebeans@yahoo.com You want to know the funny thing about my displays? After fighting with them all that time, I got the box home (only used three but took the whole box of five) and found the directions!!!
  10. Do a search by the theme you want (such as prim graphics) and you should come up with a great deal. HTH
  11. Sorry so late to post.....Thanks everyone!!
  12. I've got a few of theirs that I am really pleased with! Lemon Chiffon I poured in Joy with great results. Their Southern Pecan Pie is super yumma-licious, and their Whipped Cream scent is awesome in MP although it goes brown on ya super fast if you don't use the vanilla color stabilizer! HTH
  13. I did about 4x booth fee. Not horrible, but not as good as I had hoped either. With working full time and having two babies to take care of....I really busted my arse trying to get ready for this one!!! I, too, am beginning to wonder if open houses aren't the route to go! I am sick of hauling my stuff somewhere else....let the shoppers come to ME for a change!! LOL
  14. Milk baths and bath salts were my first B&B items. MP soap was another first for me....I've been doing it for nearly 6 yrs now & still love it.
  15. You'll probably have to use a really thick suspending gel. I tried it with regular base and all the glow sunk to the bottom.
  16. Anyone tried it, or mixed it with peach? How does it perform in soaps/candles? I've never tried Peaks.....any other scents I MUST have? I am a fruit/bakery person....not really big on the florals unless they are more herbal. Can anyone suggest any great ones? Thanks in advance!
  17. Yes, you are right.....Backwoods did have a Lemon Curd and changed it to Lemon Tart. Yummy fragrance! Holds up very nicely in MP!!
  18. There is a moldmaker on eBay who sells the urethane mini marshmallow mold as well as many others and his prices are reasonable. PM me if you want the name.
  19. It is now 2:32 am and I just finished shrink wrapping lip balms. I don't know why, but I thought of this thread. I just started getting "bigger" and I sure appreciate what you "even bigger" guys must go through. I mean, I have a full-time job so if my biz flops....it will be disappointing and I will be out some money, but we will be okay. You guys that are out there making a living doing this.....God Bless you guys!!! You bust your arses day in & day out and probably feel unappreciated at times. Well let me just say that there is one tired lady here in OH who has a newfound appreciation for all of your hard work!!!
  20. WHAT?!? :shocked2: Someone who doesn't like bakery scents? Oh, that's just wrong!! J/K!!!
  21. The advantage of online selling is that you don't have to make up alot of product to haul, then sit and hope someone buys it!!! LOL I have my one show of the year coming up and I am almost dreading it! I think I will just cry if I have passed on get-togethers, robbed time from my children and taken vacation time to finish products.....just to have a few sales! Send all your "good show" vibes my way!
  22. I've seen supplies at Pat Catans. Maybe check out their site, or the Darice site?
  23. Thanks for the floral foam trick! I tried it today and it works like a charm! Thank goodness for the suggestion of plastic wrap too.....I'm not the steadiest hand in the east! LOL
  24. LOL!!! Ever see the "Flamethrower Burger" commercials from Dairy Queen? I have this vision of me turning around, catching the curtain on fire....then paper towels, then a box of cereal....etc. (No, I still haven't pulled it from it's prison that is the Wagner box....) Thanks for the responses, though, everyone! I'm slowly building up the courage to open the box.....
