  1. I used the vegetable stearic trick as well. Worked pretty well for me when I had a softer base....now I use a harder one and don't even have to add the stearic anymore.
  2. Any safety precautions? This is mostly oily oozy ick. There is a soap turd in the center, swimming in a ton of oils!!! I think my scale was having issues. I tared it, measured my fragrance out....picked it up and looked at it and thought "that's an awful lot!" So... I put the container of fragrance back on the scale (gently, of course) and now it says my fragrance weighs 5.3 ounces!!! I dumped some back in the bottle, retared the scale and measured again. I started getting nervous thinking "crap, I wonder if all of my oils were measured wrong too?" Well, I got my answer today when I sneaked a peek of my soap!!!! How do you guys dispose of this much icky slime? I tried doing a search and didn't come up with anything. Thanks in advance! p.s. I contacted the scale company too because I literally JUST bought this scale!
  3. I use the 40/42 from Lebermuth and at .5 oz per lb of oils it is super strong in CP!!! LOVE the stuff!
  4. My favorite base to hoard all for myself is the WSP honey base. I love the smell of it and it lathers like a dream! As for selling, it is the WSP ultra white base and the Clear base they sell. The lather is out of this world and the quality is far superior to any other base I have tried.
  5. My nickname for their candles is "HOME INFERIORS" That ought to tell you what I think of them! LOL
  6. I was checking out all their fragrances and there are three different apple pies!! Can anyone recommend a good one for B&B?? (specifically, CP soap) Yes, I am thinking ahead to Fall already!! :rolleyes2 I wasn't pleased with the BCN closeout Apple fragrance so I am trying something else. I want something that smells "cinnamony" (love that word, even if I did just make it up) and not "clove". BCN's was heavy on the clove. Ick. Can anyone recommend one of the three at AH/RE to try?? Thanks in advance!
  7. They're LoveSpell is very strong. Also, Cranberry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie Spice, Hillbilly Homebrew, Lilac, Victorian Rose too. The only one that I can think of that wasn't very strong for me was Granny's Pecan Pie. I have used several NG fragrances and haven't had any problems with any of them. HTH you a little.
  8. Sorry!!! Didn't mean to be an enabler!
  9. LOL!!!! You are probably right!!! (I think I am already kicking myself for not ordering more)
  10. I liked NG's Vanilla Silk in soy. It is more of a buttery vanilla to me than a vanilla extract type fragrance though.
  11. I work at a blood center and when we have frozen blood products shipped to us by FedEx the boxes look like they were drop-kicked into the trucks!! If they treat precious, life-saving human blood this way....I couldn't even imagine how they are treating our other packages!! FedEx gets a huge thumbs-down from me and I won't ship any of my products by them.
  12. I am LOVING the fragrances I got from Sola's!! I got Guavaberry, Be Delicious and Nectarine Blossom & Honey. WOW!! I haven't smelled anything like them before. I was looking for some "new" fragrances for my soap and am very pleased!! (Shipping was $9 for 3 four ounce bottles, which made me a little but I am hoping shipping doesn't go up too much more when you order bigger bottles.) On the whole, I am happy though. Thanks for recommending Solas!!
  13. OMG, I need more fragrances like I need a hole in the head.....but that sale is almost too good to pass up! :tiptoe: I did want to say that I don't have any of those scents but have heard goodt things about Kaylins Herb Patch. A question: Does the Green Tea and Cucumber smell like the Dove scent? I have been trying to find a close dupe to that for a while now.....(sorry for the hijack)
  14. I have two more Gershel displays that I am not using. They are literally still in the box. They are the 2 or 3 step ones. Four bucks each plus shipping. Shipping will be in the original box they came in, which is pretty big, so I will have to quote you on the shipping. Let me know if interested!
  15. I'm an Upland lover myself.....I started with a small log mold and worked my way up to the bigger one.
  16. Is that a rag quilt? I have been wanting to try a rag quilt and even have the pattern......just trying to find the time! :embarasse That quilt is precious! I am sure you will have no problem selling it! :highfive:
  17. I'm a chicken so I just use GM powder! :tiptoe:
  18. Alot of grubbies soaps that I have seen are of the food variety......pumpkin, apple spice, oatmeal....etc. I've often wondered how they got the cinnamon to stick to the outside. I've never grubbed soap myself, but I think it looks kinda neat. Not sure that I would use it though....Isn't cinnamon a skin irritant, or is it just the oil? Seems a shame to rinse off all of that good cinnamon I could be putting in my cobbler! LOL
  19. Darn, today it is a cell phone ad! Well, it was funny while it lasted anyhoo
  20. Does anyone else find it funny they have a "Dead Animal Removal" ad right in the middle of that article about smells?
  21. I know for sure that I want Guavaberry & Be Delicious. (I can't wait to soap that one.....does it discolor badly?) I am on the fence regarding these ones: Nectarine Blossom & Honey Happy Heart Jean Paul Gaultier for Men Lemon Sugar Linden Can anyone tell me how these soaped/behaved in wax? The descriptions sound wonderful and y'all are a bunch of enablers! Nevermind!!! I went ahead and ordered Guavaberry, Be Delicious and Nectarine Blossom & Honey. I will wait until I read some more reviews before I order any more! Oooooh my poor credit card!
  22. Ooooh, I like that one!! I was thinking about SoaperStarr & Candle Co. but now mine sounds really hokey in comparison. :embarasse
  23. I wouldn't turn it down if it was a gift, but I wouldn't pay for it out of my own pocket. There seems to be alot of info in there that I already knew/could find on the net. I wish they had some fresh ideas/concepts. Now, for the total beginner.....I would say this magazine is worth it all the way! For us old farts who have been at it a while, most of us have been a little disappointed.
  24. I use DIY as well....just switched back in September from a "free" site I had used for a few years. It was time to step it up a notch and DIY did it for me. I love their shopping cart feature, plus the customer history and blog features are cool too! I went with Trina Clark for my graphics. She is very patient and she is super to work with! Here is her site if you would like to see some of her work: www.clipartbytrina.com If you are interested in using her for your graphics just shoot her an email. I would recommend her to anyone! :smiley2:
  25. Wow, thanks for the great read! I work in a lab that freezes blood and uses glycerol. I followed a few links and got some great info.
