  1. When I'm testing just for wicks/burn I never let it cure. I will pour one day and test burn it the next day, never had 'bad results' from not curing it--meaning, the results are the same that day as they are when I burn the candle 2 weeks later! This is what I've found in the 415 wax.
  2. I've been using the 415 for years...its just the way it is with pure soy, some scents throw, some scents don't, period! There is many many many scents that will throw super strong in this wax, it just takes time and testing of scents to find the ones that do! I have found way more scents that throw than don't throw! If you stick with the major suppliers you should have pretty good luck with finding scents that throw strong. Also for the 415 the CD wicks from BCN seem to work the best for me!
  3. If you are using soy, I agree with Top, start out with a simple jelly jar (half pint canning jars-not widemouth). Its about the easiest to use, burns rather easy and you can usually pick them up locally!
  4. I agree Michi...but why isn't Soapers Workshop listed as a Supplier? Don't other suppliers have something that states they are one by their name? And aren't their rules about suppliers posting? IDK, maybe I'm confused with a different board???
  5. Well NG must be doing something right with their oils, have you seen the humongous wharehouse they just had built and are moving into in October? Holy cow! Someones buying their oils...LOL...Congrats to NG!
  6. Ok, I just looked up the EZsoy at BCN and I'm really pissed off now! They INCREASED THE PRICE AGAIN! It is now 42.00 for a 50 pound box---they just increased it to 40.00 this summer, now its up 2 dollars again! The fact they try to just sneak it by us is the biggest pisser! How many of you guys would increase your product by 4.00 in a matter of a couple months BUT JUST HOPE NO ONE NOTICES since you don't inform anyone? Plus their outrageous shipping charges are seriously getting nuts! So I went to CS and compared the EZsoy and the 415 with prices and shipping and found CS to be WAY MORE ECONOMICAL and they are way way farther away from me than BCN which is only one state away. Here's what I found= Ezsoy BCN: 50.00lb box = 42.00 Buy 4 boxes to get the hundred weight shipping you get 3 dollars knocked off the price so its 39.00 per 50 lbs. and shipping is 163.96 (per their cart BUT they say you get a discount on shipping but I don't believe its much different from what I've seen AND WILL IT BE 85.23) Now look at Candle Science and their awesome prices! GB415 50lb box = 37.95 Buy 4 of those to get the hundred weight discount for shipping and you get the CANDLE SCIENCE SHIPPING RATE OF 85.23! So you save money per box of wax from CS then you save huge on shipping too! Oh and they state you will never be charged more than the quoted price...hmm..UNLIKE THE OTHER PLACE! Sure makes you wonder how a supplier half a country a way from me can be so much better on prices and shipping than the company one state away?!!!
  7. Yes that's true, but now with UPS increasing their prices at the beginning of this year, they put a 'surcharge' if you will, on the hundred weight residential delivery so in fact the 'savings' you used to get, isn't really there anymore for ordering the hundred weight shipping. This is what I was told by a supplier.
  8. Well tasha, what wicks have you been using and where are you getting them? How did you know to pick out the wick you are using now? Most every supplier that sells wicks sells more than one size so what made you pick the size you have? Also every fragrance oil you have used so far works with this one wick you are using? I have to agree with Vicki, if you don't even know that the size of the wick matters, you really need to go back to the beginning and start over! I am sickened at the fact that you have already sold (and are selling) candles that you have not properly tested. To start with in your proper testing of wicks, you look on the suppliers site and find the wick that they say should work with what ever the diameter of your jar is, then you pour testers with that wick and maybe a size bigger and a size smaller then you burn those and see which one is burning the best and safest...see this is where you would have known this if you had been doing your homework since you said you have been doing this for over a year already! The candlemakers on this forum have a lot of pride in their work and they take candlemaking very seriously, people who come here looking for hand out information so they can make a fast buck and who are also pumping out unsafe/poor quality candles aren't looked at to kindly! I really hope you stop selling candles IMMEDIATELY until you have done all your homework and actually KNOW what you are making and how safe your product is!
  9. Hey Latenight, think what you want but in this day and age...HA! I certainly wouldn't risk my arse! Are you certain since this is a MINOR that CT wouldn't be held liable in anyway? In the situation of something happening to an adult, no I don't believe CT would be found liable in anyway since adults are adults and everything is pretty much at your own risk in life but this is supposedly a MINOR, the rules in life change when its minors! I also DON'T believe anyone here is allowed to post "ANYTHING" here as long as its within the rules of CT...I believe there are limits! But hey, this is just my opinion and would hate for someone like SS to cause any problems for CT!
  10. I don't believe this for a minute! You come on here stating it was your 'son' in the beginning doing the posting, then you continue to post 'supposedly as an adult woman' now you are back to saying you are a 16 year old MALE? Wow! I don't buy it for a minute, for one your typing does not reflect a 16 year old, you have a website that is so feminine with absolutely NOTHING masculine at all-that alone makes me believe you are lying! I don't believe even the most feminine boy/man would prefer their products and website to reflect that much femininity..nope..nada! I believe you are a fraud! But if you truly are a 16 year old I really think CT should be checking into the liabilities they may be liable for with a MINOR conducting business through their forum. What happens when some lurking weirdo makes contact with this minor through his advertised website here and something happens to this minor-will CT be liable?
  11. Apparently the extra charges for shipping to 'residential' addresses has been in effect for quite a while now so if you have been ordering hundred weight this year, you have probably already been paying the added charges.
  12. Here's my post from the temp forum: Ok, I burned the pumpkin souffle from CS yesterday after a week of curing in pure soywax and let me tell ya, ICK! It doesn't have a very pleasant scent at all. I kept going up to it and waving my hand over the candle to get better whiffs of the scent and I kept smelling a burnt smell, almost like a burnt hair smell! Not a good scent at all. But the cranberry marmalade is to die for!
  13. Can I ask you where you read this info on the hundred weight issue? I have been looking and can't find any info on it..thanks!
  14. Are you talking about the Daystar (serendipities) and SS problems? Yep, suppliers need to keep this crap to themselves, why involve customers? As for coming here to bash Southern Soapers, well, I guess that's the price SS has to pay for being extremely unprofessional! If I remember correctly it was Stacy at DS who told the whole story on her yahoo group right? Well that was the first unprofessional thing to do....If I am wrong and she didn't bring it to her group someone please correct me!
  15. When does that take effect then? I ask because I see some suppliers are still saying you can get the hundredweight shipping discounts on orders over 200 pounds...
  16. I need to ask you where you heard UPS doesn't ship hundred weight to residence addresses anymore? I was trying to find info on this on the UPS site and couldn't find anything, I would like to know if this is absolutely true or not because if they stopped doing this, oh boy, shipping is going to kill an awful lot of people...thanks!
  17. LOL Candlebuddy...when I first read your doing a test mix I thought you were mixing candy corn and the pineapple macaroon TOGETHER...I was thinking, hey now that might just smell really good...LOL...then I saw you were testing for TWO different scent mixes...they sound really good Thank you for all these great blends you have offered up!!!
  18. I don't believe any candy corn is going to be strong...at least I haven't found one yet that was. BCN's was about the best smelling tho and it did have what I would call a light-medium throw in pure soy.
  19. I'm sure if you contact Doneen she will take care of it for you!
  20. I will add the Apple Cobbler Delight from FOH also, for a unique fall apple scent. I personally don't care for it, but its a big hit.
