  1. I think starting with cp or m&p either one is great. They are kind of like talking about apples and oranges if you know what I mean. I want to recommend the Kathy Miller soap web site if you are going to try cp soap. She has so much information for beginner soapers. It is really great.
  2. Talk to Jeanie! She makes beautifully colored m&p soap. Some in pastels but not all for sure. Check this thread out. Not the pastel ducks but further down there is a picture of some lollies: http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23561
  3. Has anybody soaped this one? Does it smell anything like a real chamomile? With tea of course. Is it strong in cp soap? Thanks!
  4. I read once that the scent was of the flower of the plant. Is it really supposed to smell like a joint burning?
  5. I think if you use proper lab techniques and go about making lotion in a professional responsible manner you will have a safe product. I have several lotions here that are over a year old and are just fine. The thing is I don't cut corners. I have to work myself up to make lotion. I hate making them because of all the work I put into it. Unfortunately I have to use my kitchen to make them. I scrub ever surface including the walls before I make them. Lots of work but I enjoy knowing that I have a quality product when I am finished. I wish I could afford the preservative testing but I can't.
  6. It's a good idea to print them each out in different sizes so you get an idea of their readability. Sometimes what looks great in normal size can't be read when you put it on a smallish label. I like number 3.
  7. It really isn't expensive or hard to do at all. There is more than one method to thicken it.
  8. Okay so as long as preservative is added to the water I use to make the gel then it is just as good and cheaper.
  9. Okay then is the aloe gel you're buying preserved? Does it list a preservative on the bottle and people are listing the preservative on their product labels? Just wondering.
  10. lol! You're right we all follow a different drummer. I add to my lye water just before I add the water to the oils. I give it a whir with the stick blender to make sure it is all dissolved nicely and then pour it in. I don't have any honey dots that way.
  11. I don't suppose you'd share where you got the Vanilla Honey Butter from would you? I'm always on the look out for new honey scents to try!
  12. I think it's cheaper to get one of the freeze dried aloe powders and make your own gel.
  13. Since it is soap I use the no ingredient list option for my m&p. I know it is taking the easy way out but it has made life simpler.
  14. I bet that's what happened. I don't know anything about that fo or even sandlewoods in general. I don't take the temperature of my oils or lye water anymore. I like the lye water to be room tempertaure and the pan my oils are in to be coolish to the touch.
  15. I know I use the Milky Way molds for cp. I don't do anything special except add some sodium lactate.
  16. How hot are you soaping? Could it be overheating? Was your fo a heater?
  17. I've had in the pot swirls do that but to be honest I try to avoid that bulls eye look. Just pour at the side center of the mold and it tends to do that more.
  18. Yeah they have actually gotten a lot better with their shipping. I used to be very vocal about how outrageous they were but now I even order from them occasionally. Something is wrong.
  19. Depending on how much too much lye was it could be a little drying to incredibly harsh. Sounds like this one won't make a large difference.
  20. Aj's right abou the whipped soap. Just whip air into the soap with your stickblender and it will float. Hold the blender half out of the soap and it will add plenty of air. I'm guessing that a rebatch is probably made up of small pieces of soap so they would trap air when they are incorporated into the rest of the batch. That's what made that one float.
  21. coconut milk isn't like animal milks. No over heating problems. I love using it.
  22. I like the big plastic tubs with lids at walmart. I list what's inside on the top and the sides. Kinda pita but I can tell at a glance which one to pull. I need way more cabinet space for eo's and fo's and other bottles. Those have kind of taken over.
  23. Powdered goat milk is a beautiful thing! I like how easy it is to just add it to the oils.
