  1. Barbara-- those are beautiful! Did you by chance make a video on making that swirl? I would love to learn. I can't imagine what fruit loops soap smells like but if its fresh and fruity I would love it!
  2. Just what type of scent do you want to end up with? woodsy, spicy, clean, citrusy? Yesterday I mixed up a new cedar vanilla scent: French Vanilla FO with EOs of cedarwood, patch, allspice, and amyris. Then added a hint of clove and baby powder FOs. It turned out to be a sweet vanilla with a strong spicy woodiness. I soaped it yesterday and can really get that deep woodsy scent. Just wish I had a bit of fir needle to add to it and forgot I could have added eucalyptus too. Maybe next time.
  3. Oh Barbara!! Look at those colors! You've got those fruit loop colors going on. Very, very pretty. Is that a 5 color mantra swirl? You sure have some patience and skill there. The swirls are lovely.
  4. I love using clays for color too. I use them sparingly thou at 1 tsp ppo or less. I first tried them at 1 tbs ppo but then it killed the lather.
  5. Yes you can be creative with both CP and M&P. One of the things that makes M&P easier to be creative with is that you have the option of using clear bases so embeds can create scenes within the soap. Another factor is that CP soap can start to saponify on you rather quickly at times and you have a limited window of manipulating your soap batter. Probably the best way to see the results is to go check out the soap gallery. You really need to view current work and well as researching as far back as 4-5 yrs to see some awesome M&P and CP soap. Some of the most creative are M&P but then they are some very talented CP masters whose soap creations will knock your socks off.
  6. This is MW Autumn Embers. I love its rich, smoky, spicy scent so much I use it as a spa fragrance. For this soap I wanted to make it a multi-red because I am working on a Moroccan theme. Its got Moroccan red clay and Argan oil in it. Colors are raging raspberry and red rainbow mica. In the mold and cut pics.
  7. I'm thinking more winter; cedarwood, patchouli, eucalyptus, spearmint, fir needle, and a bit of lavender.
  8. Nice pillars! Beautiful colors.
  9. Wow! Thats a lot of soap! Love your deep rich colors. Its hard to pick a favorite I like them all.
  10. Thank you for all the nice comments. Don't worry-- I get lots of sleep. LOL Proudmarinemom-- I fine ground some peppermint leaf for the speckles. Just a pinch was all I needed. But I am worried that even a small amount may cause scratchiness. So I have to wait a bit for the soaps to cure to test one out.
  11. Gads! I'm holding my breath here Dee!! patiently waiting.....
  12. I think she means the oval portion cups. I was looking at those too and thinking how cute they are! I love your soap game consoles. I bet those are a hit with the kiddies!! and gamers!! BTW-- you are adorable!
  13. I had to break down and buy a soap cutter. I couldn't cut straight to save my life! LOL
  14. I love this scent! The look I was going for is a cream/off white washed stone. It came out exactly like I wanted. Woot!!
  15. Cedar and Patchouli are both base notes so you need to add some top and middle notes. Some middle notes are: lavender, bay rum, black pepper, fir needle, rose geranium Some top notes are: anise, lemon, lemongrass, lime, tangarine, sage, eucalyptus, orange, peppermint, spearmint
  16. Somehow I just can't see whipping up a batch of scrambled eggs and frying them in soy wax. Ick!!
  17. Thanks for the kind words. Proudmarinemom- I haven't seen the RE colors. I am so new at coloring CP and have not had a chance to get all the colors I want to try. Kind of like shopping for FOs, there are just so many out there to choose from! So far I am liking the colors and having success with every color I buy from Nurturesoapsupplies.com. I got most of the Rainbow micas and one of the Neons. Now I want all the neons!
  18. In the mold and cut pics. I used RE Lemon Verbena for the first time. It smells wonderful! I used coconut milk and colored it with yellow and green rainbow micas. In the mold ready to be cut. Cut pics.
  19. This is SGS Oatmeal, Milk & Honey. I used goat milk, with wildflower honey and colloidal oatmeal.
  20. When I was about 9 yrs old my brother (11 yrs) and I made our first candle out of canning wax and kite string. Back then you could only buy the canning wax. It is nothing but straight paraffin so it was good to use. My brother figured out how to prime the kite string by soaking it in the wax. We used a milk carton for our candle mold.' That candle came out perfect and we burned it that weekend in our tree fort for light. It was brilliant and we were so proud of that candle! It actually burned pretty good for a pillar candle.
  21. I put this in CP. Since this works in CP it should work very nice in M&P. I would definitely use it in M&P if I still made it. I have been searching for a soap safe replacement ever since CS Lemon Verbena was designated for candles only. I have been desperately trying to find one good enough to stick in CP and so far this is it. Its still strong and fresh lemony smelling. I love it! Pictures in the gallery!
  22. Thanks for sharing that. This is exactly why I wouldn't want to do this. I am like you in that I periodically take samples to my merchants. Just to show them what I have thats new or something I thought would be perfect for their target customers. It often works and I go away with a nice big order. It pays to know what your customers like! But trying to dupe something I have no idea what it is-- no thanks! Sorry that happened to you.
  23. Jeana I really hope it works out for you. I like to see success stories and hope this turns out to be one too!! keeping my fingers crossed for you!
