  1. I have some flexible rubber star shaped ice cube moulds & have found some just will not come out whole. I think it's more to do with the actual shape of the mould than the wax, tho I am using ecosoya p.b & it can be a bit fragile at times. I have other shaped ice cube moulds which work fine & I've never had to spray them with anything. Putting the tray in the fridge to set nice & hard helps release them too. Sally.
  2. Lovely candles, you did a grerat job. Sally.
  3. Michael your candles are beautiful. I once saw a woman demonstrating carving candles , she had been doing it for years & yours are easily as good as hers were. Do you ever burn them? Sally.
  4. Instant reaction...ooo thats pretty. Simple & classy, I personally wouldn't colour it. One day I'll get my own label finished...lol. Sally.
  5. I've tried the spray paints with lots of success. Plain pillars looked gorgeous when I wrapped fancy lace around them & sprayed over it like a stencil then took the lace off. I've also tried gold wax but it was a complete waste of time & money & it smelled disgusting, I wouldn't even use it mixed with scrap for my firestarters. Sally.
  6. If you try that don't leave them in the freezer for too long as the tarts could crack. Sally.
  7. Well done, glad you had a good 2 days, it's so good when something you put so much effort into comes off well. Hope your sales go from strength to strength & you'll get your store sooner than you think. Sally.
  8. I've had tarts last anything up to 40 hours for a 1oz tart,& fragrance the whole donstairs of my house, probably would have gone on for longer but I wanted a change, using Ecosoya pb & fo's said to be not great quality, so I'm hoping to try out some "better" oils soon. I recently got some rubber ice cube moulds shaped like hearts, stars, shells, fishes & penguins, great for 1/2oz mini tarts. Like everyone says they are loads of fun to make & a good way to try out a new f.o. Have fun with your tarts. Sally.
  9. Looking good! Easy to navigate, clean design, simple but professional look. Hope it does well for you. Sally.
  10. Jack B Nimble Candle Co. with a boy jumping a candlestick for your logo. Sally
  11. That's fabulous, congratulations. Sally.
  12. yummaliciousness....I like that word Sally.
  13. Hi Leslie, I'm also a glass painter as well as chandler. I only use pots of paint but I've seen pens like those you mentioned. The ones I've seen are made by PEBEO I can't tell you if they're any good tho' as I've never used them. Good luck in your search. Sally.
  14. Used plastic moulds for a few years but they scratch up inside too easily & can stain with some dyes. Finally got hold of some seamless aluminium moulds & love them. I like the versatility of the tin moulds as far as shapes go but don't like the rust. Sally.
  15. Hi Christy, welcome. Whichever wax you use for your tarts a pillar wax will work better than a container wax. It sets up harder & is much easier to get out of the mould. Can't help you with a supplier tho' as I'm in Scotland. Sally.
  16. I've noticed rust on wick sustainers in my votives, especially with vanilla fo's, which discolours the wax around the sustainer a little, but I haven't seen it in my tins at all & some of them are several months old. It seems to me that heavier f.o's & e.o's have this effect on the sustainers but it's not noticable until a few weeks after production. I have no idea if anything can be done to prevent this but I explain to my customers that it's an effect of the f.o in the wax & doesn't affect the burning at all. Sally.
  17. Hi Bob, I have to agree with Henry here. I'm currently comparing Eco cba & another cb from a British supplier & I'm planning on adding CB135 to the equation with a view to finding a preference (maybe I'm dreaming, but at least my dreams smell nice). I haven't tried any soy/para blends, I'm still enjoying soy too much to bother. It really is all personal preference, what works for one person may not work for you but don't be disheartened. Experimenting is all part of the fun. Sally.
  18. I'm currently using Ecosoya PB for my tarts. I heat the wax to 170 then add fo at 1 1/2 oz per # wax & stir well. Cool to 100 or a little lower & pour into flexible rubber ice cube trays for mini tarts & plastic moulds for larger heart tarts. The ice cube trays are great so far I've got mini hearts, shells, fish, penguins & stars & I'm looking out for others with a more christmassy theme. Once the wax has set up enough I pop the tray in the fridge to finish cooling & it helps the tarts release really easily. I don't normally colour my soy but I'm considering it. I'll be adding my tarts to candles & a friends gorgeous b&b in my christmas gift baskets. I love making tarts, they're very satisfying cos they always work! Sally.
  19. Hang in there, things will come good eventually, hopefully soon. Sally.
  20. I'd do some baskets too, lots of folk like to start buying early for christmas. Sally.
  21. That's really nice. You did a great job. The first candle I ever tried to make was a ball, minus the chunks, I never did get the thing out of the mould but I did get hooked on making candles. Sally.
  22. MMMM my favourite cocktail, I'd love to know your results if you do try it. Sally.
  23. It has to be Lush. O.K I know it's not strictly supplies but as I don't make my own b&b I have to get a fix somewhere....& for the really practical things the local poundshop is great for things like plastic storage boxes with lids & those food storage boxes for tarts. Sally.
  24. I haven't seen electric tart warmers here in U.K so I have no choice but to use tea lights in a deep dish tart melter. I like it because it goes out eventually & can either put a new tea light in or let the wax set up til the next time. If I was using an electric tart warmer I'd probably forget it was switched on & leave it for too long, but if we could get them easily over here I'd give them a go. Sally.
