  1. OOOO shelves & hooks & storage space oooooo:drool: Sally.
  2. I'm dreaming of a little workshop, just like the one's I've seen on here. With a great big work-top, where I just won't stop, making candles every day. (sung to the tune of white christmas) Until then it's my kitchen too & things stored here there & everywhere....organised chaos it's called. I think that'd make a great name for my house! Sally.
  3. I would just love to find a UK based company with a selection like that, & the prices are great too. Whenever I do find something I really like the look of over here you can only get them if you are able to buy hundreds at once...& I'm not able! Oh well back to the hours of online searching. Sally.
  4. They do look good, tempts me to try some colour in my soy. sally.
  5. That's cool, I'll use the wire brush to "rough up" a big rustic pillar I made a while ago. The bottom layer got poured too hot & is too smooth looking. Sally.
  6. Thanks to all for this info. As I've said before I'm new to using fragrance in my candles & want to try out lots of different fragrances throughout the years without limiting myself to those more suited to the coming season. All I need now is a bigger store cupboard & lots more hours in my days! Sally.
  7. Hmm, a bizarre manner in which to use a company newsletter! It feels to me like a bit of heavy salesmanship (is that a word) with the weekly newsletter & if I was in an bricks & mortar shop & was pounced on by sales staff it would put me off from buying, but at least you can unsubscribe from the newsletter & just check in with the website occassionally. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion & just because some oils don't work well for some people & they talk about it doesn't mean they should then be ridiculed.....this world's a difficult enough place to live in without unnecessary unpleasantness like that. Having made candles for years & only recently started using fragrance in them I value my customers & testers feedback & I know it's not personal (well it hasn't been yet!). The way I see it is the feedback will help me to perfect my products over time. I haven't used the company in question yet but if I find something that I want to try & the price is right then I'll give it a go....unless I'm now blacklisted for having a personal opinion..& if that were to happen well I wouldn't give a flying f*** about it & I wouldn't rant about it in a company newsletter....I'd share it with you all here! Sally.
  8. Keep em coming! with suppliers being so few on the ground here I'm really glad of these other addys. Sally.
  9. Am doing a local fair on Saturday, it's in conjunction with the town's annual food fest & this month's farmers market so I'm hoping for a good turn out & great sales. Apart from that I'll be trying to spend as much time as possible with my sister & family before they go back to Wales on monday. Have a lovely weekend everyone. Sally.
  10. What do you mean not getting any better/ They're great. Sally.
  11. Wow are you sure they're a first attempt or have you been secretly practising. I'm sure my first attempts wouldn't look nearly as lovely as those. Sally.
  12. Click on the thread Candle Man has posted & go to the post dated 6.21.2006 Find the post by Everito Bandito & follow the directions given there. It is the easiest way to achieve smooth bottoms believe me, I've struggled with wonky bottoms for too many years before trying this out. Sally.
  13. Why...because we know we can produce better quality products & it's important to us as a reflection of how we see ourselves. Well I think I'm a quality product! Plus the discerning public really does like to buy quality hand made produce it's just that we need to convince some of them. :rolleyes2 Sally.
  14. Thanks for the info folks, now I understand. We have some large craft fair organisers over here who work with schemes like that, however most don't & unfortunately the quality of products, inclusion of imported goods & low sale prices reflects on those of us who are genuine craft workers as too many people expect to pay those low prices all the time. Sally.
  15. It's so easy to make firestarters, I made some yesterday. It's good to have something that uses up all my scrap wax & is useful too. Sally.
  16. I'll definately be putting warning labels & instructions for use on the bags, I don't want people thinking they're candles! Sally.
  17. I've just spent the afternoon making firestarters with sawdust, scrap wax & topped with cheap pot-pourri....so easy & lots of fun. Thanks to whoever came up with the idea, I know I've read posts here about them What I want to know is how well they sell at fairs etc? I know there's no guarantee things will sell but I thought I'd give them a go, & I can always use them myself too. Sally.
  18. Please excuse my ignorance, I'm in Scotland & we don't have juried shows...just what are they & how does it work. Sorry for hijacking the thread. Sally.
  19. Do any of you UK folk use round labels on your products? I'm looking for sheets of labels suitable for ink jet printers, but I'm having trouble finding a supplier of smaller quantities. Also which programmes do you use to print them, I'm new to printing so I'm sure there will be lots of mistakes before I get there :rolleyes2 Any help will be gratefully received. TIA Sally.
  20. I've had similar problems with wick dots especially in containers with a slightly concave bottom. Each dot had to be pressed VERY firmly into place so it didn't come loose. Using them as wickless containers would save the extra effort of getting the wax out & cleaning the jars etc & the wick dots shouldn't melt into the wax, they're supposed to withstand the high temperatures reached when the candle has burned right down. Good luck. Sally.
  21. I'm definately thinking of a "top shelf" range...in "discreet packaging"...just gotta find the right scents, containers & packaging & I'll be sorted. Sally.
  22. That's an amazing display, everything looks absolutely gorgeous & so well presented. Sally.
  23. Very, very pretty...any time of the year. Sally.
