  1. Here's a short list - there are many many more out there! Nature's Garden Peak Candle Aztec Lone Star Bitter Creek North Bitter Creek South WSP Candle Science Candles & Supplies Indiana Candle Supplies Save on Scents I know I am missing a ton of obvious ones, but here is what I could think of just off the top of my head. Actually - check out this thread. It will be helpful - http://www.craftserver.com/topic/103776-suppliers-and-abbreviations/
  2. Thanks Candy! I am absolutely in love with it. And IMO it smells so sexy! Just like a man in a tux should smell IMO.
  3. Thank you, Thank you everyone. It actually was not as hard as it seems. I'm thinking of doing a YouTube tutorial on it and if I do I'll be sure to post here in the tutorial section. And I've heard the candy pearls will bleed a horrid green. So I may end up taking them out and doing the M&P after all. Bummed about that, but we'll see. I'm going to do another batch without any type of insulation at all to see if that won't help the top stay fluffed and I don't get the glycerin rivers (which if you look close you actually can see them in the white too) from the overheating. We'll see. I appreciate all the kind words.
  4. I am so excited y'all have no idea! I LOVE the way this one turned out! The yellow on the top is scent that leaked/pooled because it overheated. I'm actually pretty lucky I caught it when I did so I didn't have a volcano - I'll do better next time. - On the bottom you can see how it fully gelled and then started gelling again so the bottom almost resembles a partial gel, but it did fully gel. And because it overheated I got funky glycerin rivers in the black. (but not the white even though I didn't mix the black colorant with water but I did the white? go figure) I was debating making the buttons out of M&P or the candies. I was thinking the candies would fall off (and they still might) but they were so easy to push in that I just used them on all the soaps. On the one by itself because of the swirls on top the cut portion makes it almost look like a bow tie and jacket. I am uber excited this one turned out!! So so happy.
  5. I'm getting anxious to get home and get this cut. I'm having issues because I don't know how it's going to turn out. LOL Anyone else ever get that way? Excited because you think it's going to be perfect, only to be apprehensive a few minutes later thinking it's going to be a disaster, to finally resolved that it's going to turn out however it's going to turn out? LOL I know, I'm crazy... LOL
  6. Can you bake a cake? Or make gravy? Then you can make soap!! Seriously, I'm like you, if I can do it so can you!! It's easy once you know the basics of what you are doing. If you were near me we would have a "Let's make some soap" day and I'd teach you how to do it.
  7. Thanks everyone. I really hope once I unmold it looks the way I want. I'm so disappointed the top fell. I should have known not to insulate but habits are hard to break. Smells amazing though. It's a mix of Golden Embargo (from Mad Oils) and Black Linen and Amber (NG) with a teeny tiny touch of vanilla.
  8. That's the plan. I went and peeked at it myself. The top fell because it got so hot so, the top won't look quite like that once I cut. (I had a feeling it would get very warm by how fast it thickened up, so I only put one towel on it. Even that was too much. Oh well. it will help the layers adhere better I guess.
  9. I know this is a masculine soap and probably shouldn't have had glitter, but I couldn't help myself. LOL I'm hoping the "white" will turn back to white (it usually does) and that when I cut into it it looks somewhat like a tuxedo. We'll see. Here is a peek at the top...
  10. I used Fresh Fruit Slices for it. I know the candy is more of a vanilla milky scent with the colored candies being cherries, but I didn't want to mess with all that, and the fruit slices sounded really good at the time.
  11. For me personally it wouldn't be worth it to mention, but as others have said, sometimes it's over and sometimes under, but never really a significant amount either way (usually less than 5lbs one way or the other). I know a lot of times the suppliers just resale the cases they get from the manufacturer, so I have always looked at those weights as an "estimate". However, due to accounting and wanting to get the best "bang" for my buck and charge the right amount retail and wholesale I always weigh my wax as soon as I get it from the supplier so I know exactly what I paid per pound.
  12. I do the same as Scented. I take everything I possibly can. Like today - my best selling candles were Banana scent and Black Cherry scent. Go figure. Only about 20% of the candles I sold were holiday scented candles. The rest just kind of were all over the board. But I sold out of all the banana candles I had and all but one of the black cherry candles I had. Soaps, were a mixed variety of everything. I have 3 more shows to do this season and I'm hoping they are all as good as this one.
  13. No, not chocolate at all. This is what the actual candy looks like (I've made it once - he real candy - and it's good, just not great) I'm hoping the soap will somewhat resemble it. I just got home from a craft show and checked on it and it's still too soft and sticking to the sides of the molds to take it out of the mold. Maybe tomorrow. Only difference - mine will have little yellow jewels as well as the red and green...
  14. I just made this soap! Smells amazing. Not sure if it's going to float or not - but I whipped the snot out of it. I think it's the scent that is slowing every thing down. I put my cold (yep, cold they were mixed well, but I put them in the fridge) oils with all the additives, including the scent in my mixer and whipped that up pretty well (about 15 minutes) - it was like runny mashed potatoes. Then I added my very cool lye water (was sitting in an ice bath for about 15 minutes and was already at RT when I did that) to it and mixed that up for about another 15 minutes. It was weird, as soon as I added my lye it became very very fluid - more fluid with the lye than just the oils themselves. Anyway, after whipping it for about 15 minutes with the lye I turned the mixer off, scraped the beaters, hand mixed in some cut up little bits of yellow, green and red M&P, poured in the mold, smacked it down, added more bits and glitter to the top, covered it and walked away. I don't think it will gel. Sorry no pics, those will come probably mid week due to it not gelling it may take a few days before it's ready to unmold. This is one I've wanted to do since my first whipped soap. I liked the consistency of my first one better. Next time I will try a known accelerator fragrance and see if I get the results I want. Either way it smells good. I think it will look good too, it just may not float.
  15. So I spent 2 hours cleaning and organizing my soap room and now I am too tired to create. LOL However, it's nice and clean for when I go down there to soap.
  16. Yes, wait until it starts to gel, (about 2-5 minutes) then it will loosen up and smooth out - you won't get nice pretty swirls and it will resemble HP (not quite as rustic) OR you can add about 2oz cold water to try and loosen it. That helps as well. This is probably way too late, however, it will help for next time.
  17. I must say I love them. This is just a general "This supplier is great" type of post. I put in a medium sized order today - not huge, not small (well, maybe small to some people) at 6:59am. I got my shipping notice with tracking number by 8:02am. Little over an hour. I always have great customer service with them, and I personally have never had to call them about my order or had problems with the products at all. (P.S. I think I posted this in the right section - if not, admins please move. Thank you)
  18. They will be here Tuesday. I. simply. cannot. wait. !!! LOL
  19. I'm a snowman lover! LOL (My whole house is decorated with snowmen during the holidays) So I was excited to see the snowmen in the Christmas one. I really hope it's easy to work with the detail. They will probably take a lot of work, but in the end be worth it I think. And yeah, I have so many plans, ideas and stuff going on in my head, my head feels like the Tasmanian Devil was set loose in in my brain. I wish there were like 72 hours in a day and I didn't have to work FT. LOL
  20. I just went on an embed mold shopping spree! (sort of) I got these - I hope they come out as detailed as the mold shows. We'll see. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LASEBA6/ref=ox_sc_sfl_image_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER I got the Christmas mold, the Halloween mold and the Ocean mold. I am saving for later the heart, Easter and flower mold. I think I have an addiction to molds as my addiction to FO's is fading. LOL I don't get all that excited about scents anymore. Probably because I have so many and so many blending options (which is what I do more than making straight up scents anymore anyway) that it's not a thrill to get them. But molds?? O man!! I love molds. Even molds I will probably never use I get!! For instance - I bought the cylinder mold from Soap Making Resource over a year ago (probably 2 years now) and it was a LOT of money - I have never even used it once. NOT ONCE.. But boy did I have to have it!! LOL Yes, it's a problem... I admit it. But it's a problem I don't want to get help for just at the moment. Maybe next year. LOL ETA - not sure why it's linking to the Easter mold, but just click Chrismtas, Halloween & Ocean and you can see which molds I got.
  21. MOST rules can be broken - or at least bent. ETA: I should have added that they can be broken or bent as long as you are careful.
  22. If they don't gel it may take a few days since they are molds of plastic. If you get in a hurry you can pop them in the freezer for a few hours then let them come to room temp after taking them out of the freezer before trying to unmold. Experimenting is fun, and you are doing a great job!
