  1. Either tomorrow or Sunday. In my head it looks fabulous! We all know how that translates to the actual product though... LOL
  2. I don't know you from before, but welcome back just the same!
  3. Well, that's what it looks like in my head... LOL I was thinking of my friends mountain soap, then wondering about how to do the peaks, then thought of a valley - and well, down that rabbit hole I went spiraling around until I hit on the tuxedo idea. LOL I've never seen it done before, but I'm 99.9% positive it has, I just haven't seen it. LOL
  4. Maybe do a quarterly challenge and have the sticky up for 4 months then take it down? Or even monthly? OR bi-monthly - that way there are only 6 stickies at any given time and once they've been up for a year (or less) take them down? IDK - just brainstorming here. Feel free to tell me to shut my trap! LOL
  5. I knew I'd give it away!! And I laughed out loud at your first sentence. I didn't even think of how the wording of my sentence would come across - especially talking about a man soap! HAHA
  6. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how to do one little part but all the rest, (in my head) is all figured out. It doesn't seem like it should be hard, but the results will look great... Here is a small hint (and what will probably give it away! LOL) The scent is going to be a custom blend, but I am going to call it "Sharp Dressed Man" and yes, it's going to be both a masculine scent and soap. And it will actually help the design if a certain portion of it thickens up quickly.
  7. I like the idea of leaving it open! I work better when I'm not under pressure or a deadline. Well, I'm more creative let's say. At work, I thrive on deadlines, but in my crafting business I like doing what I want, not what I have too. LOL
  8. Don't you hate it when inspiration or great ideas strike when it's too late at night or whatever it is prevents you from acting on that inspiration?? I have such a great idea for a soap and no time to do it until probably Sunday. GRRR If it turns out when I eventually do get to do it, man I can't wait to show you.
  9. Some other ideas/suggestions are (but not limited too) Color theme (I've done a few like this - it could also fall in the color theme I guess - I've tried copying the colors in my Avi before - it was interesting) Scent theme *(or a color & scent theme combined) A scent blend you created yourself Trying to copy a picture theme - I've seen a woman recreate a moon rise over the mountains - it was awesome! etc.,
  10. Yes, ME ME ME ME!!! I like ideas 2, 3, 5, & 6 (not that I don't like 1 & 4 they are just my least favorite!) I LOVE absolutely LOVE soap challenges. (and candle challenges too, but the soap ones are easier for me! LOL)
  11. I agree with Candybee on everything she said. I mainly use calculaters for my lye/water calculations of course, but same as Candybee, can figure them on my own as long as I have the SAP value of the oils. IMO it's something I feel every soaper should calculate by had at least once, but that is just my opinion and I don't get all dramatic or judgmental if people don't do it or don't know how. I will also use Soapcalc when formulating a new recipe to fine tune the properties I want for that particular soap, and see what the numbers are, even though I rarely use them for anything more than just a guideline. (for instance a typical recipe says the cleansing #'s should be in the 12-22 range or it will be too harsh - I have a recipe that is at a 40 cleansing number and it is a very conditioning bar, and not stripping at all) (So basically I just repeated what Candybee said but used different words -LOL).
  12. If you are sensitive to them, then yes. My area is very open, but I wouldn't say "well ventilated" there are no fans or anything, and I pour many different scents when making candles all the time and usually don't have a problem unless I end up pouring a scent I'm sensitive too like Lavender (which will give me a headache/migraine when I'm not super careful with it)
  13. Ooh, that Spiced Amber Ale sounds good as does the Pumpkin Lager!! I might have to re-think this. I just don't like the yeasty smell of beer so didn't want that in a soap...
  14. I'm not sure what analine is, but if it is pigment based, it could clog the wick. However, you could probably get a small sampling and try I guess. Maybe there is an online supplier in Europe that will ship to Lithuania? I don't know. Sorry I couldn't be more help...
  15. There-in lies my problem. I don't do the grocery shopping. LOL I really should start going with my hub to check out any soaping supplies though. Maybe I'll do that next time.
  16. Thank you Chefs mom. That's good to know that it didn't get real dark due to the beer. (I mean it's good for me to know, sorry it didn't work out the way you wanted though!) I still haven't decided on scent. As the above post said, maybe something with an Amber in it... Other than that, not sure....
  17. Oh you need too - they are such nice soaps! I dare say almost better than my GM soaps! I typically make mine with Bud Light Lime and scent them a lime scent - but have no idea what to scent this one, but know I want to do it. I'm thinking something manly or masculine, but not sure. Even though I love drinking beer, I typically don't like the smell of beer, so I know I don't want to scent them with a beer scent, but other than that, I really don't know. I think it's going to have Amber in it and not sure on what else. Sorry I'm rambling. When I finally get around to making it, I will def. show pics...
  18. I'm so glad you did well!! Good luck at your Market on Saturday. I have a show this weekend, 2 in November and 1 in December that is a 2-day show. I had one booked every weekend, but I just couldn't do it, so I have someone filling in for me on the ones I felt bad if I cancelled on such a short notice, and 1 I cancelled that I didn't feel that bad about because the show is not a good one and the fees are a little high, but the kicker is the organizer is really not very nice of a person. She is very mean spirited, so even though I feel a bit guilty for cancelling "last minute" (which it's not it's the 22nd of November) I don't feel as bad as I do for the others I'm having someone cover.
  19. Oh yeah, no, that is not a product design, and I would definitely complain (again) and send them the pictures if you can as well.
  20. there is no pic - maybe they aren't damaged but it's a by product of the boxes itself? IDK I've never used or seen those boxes though, so don't know.
  21. It was a great time. Thank you. We had less people this year, only about 35 people showed up. It's always a great time though.
  22. IMO 2 hours later is not that bad of a turnaround time, who knows how busy she could have been? - HOWEVER - refusing to take an order over the phone, well, that is ridiculous. What if your internet was down, and you HAD to have those items to keep your business going? What if you are like my mom who functions just as well throughout her life without any sort of internet, email, nada?? (I mean seriously, she doesn't even have a cell phone!!) I mean there are a LOT of reasons not to place an order online, and it's ridiculous that if a business has a phone they won't take an order over the line. Makes me shake my head too...
  23. I need to go home and measure my cutter!! LOL I got it from FCS so many years ago, I don't remember if I ever measured it to make sure it was an accurate 1" or not. From the sounds of it, maybe not!! LOL Thank you for explaining.
  24. I know this is an OLD (really old) thread, but wanted to say that that is so weird that you only get the 10 - 1" bars with this mold. I get the described 11 bars with about a 1/4" sliver on the end. Also, my bars have pretty high tops and right out of the mold they weigh about 6.75oz and by the time they cure out they are right at around 5.5oz or 5.75oz or so. I absolutely adore my ED silicones. I have 2 and when I can afford it (I know they are relatively inexpensive) I will buy 2-3 more for bigger production of my best seller soaps.
  25. I'm going to make a beer soap sometime soon with this type of beer. I've never boiled out the alcohol content on my beer soap, usually I just add a tablespoon of salt to the amount I need for my full liquid content and then freeze it. Anyway, my question isn't about that - especially since even though this is an import stout it's still only about 4% ABV, so there's really no reason to boil out the alcohol. My question is - with it being a stout, do you think it will get real dark? None of my other beer soaps get very dark (unless the FO makes them that way) but never having used a stout I'm not sure if it would darken the soap significantly or not - that will determine the scent I use. I know the stout scent won't make it through sap, but I would want a scent to match the color if it's going to darken... TIA
