  1. that's Colonial Tin Works. I had to google them because I couldn't figure how that would work. It's actually and insert, not a lid. found them on ebay, too, but they are electric not tealight. google mason jar tart inserts
  2. Georgia

    Score!

I just bought a Scentsy warmer off ebay for $8! Now, I can officially test my melts in their warmer. I guess nobody wanted a NC collegiate warmer.
  3. I bought some solid color cloth napkins to cover bins. They work well depending on your size. If you sew just get some material and hem the edges to whatever size you need. Iron on hem tape works if you don't sew... Or duct tape if you don't iron. LOL
  4. I was thinking some elevation, too. Turn a larger bin upside down, cover with a cloth and put the smaller bins on top. I do like the clean look of it though!
  5. I got a disposable roasting pan and burned it in the back yard. I needed to know how long it would burn. Then when my neighbors were out with their fire pit I offered to help them start it.
  6. I was going on 6 years and I was doing OK but I wasn't looking to make it my sole support. I wanted it to still be fun and it was. Then the company I worked for shut the doors and I was suddenly unemployed. I closed the candle biz so I didn't mess with my unemployment and I've just been a crafter since. I only got a few orders from strangers off the website anyway so closing that wasn't a big loss.
  7. OK, I'm having a serious senior moment here. I did the Qtip blend 50/50 of 2 FOs. I really like it and want to put it in wax. I normally use one at 3% and the other at 6%. Do I blend them 50/50 and use 6%?
  8. you can sprinkle some of that dollar store potpourri on top but the shredded hampster bedding is best in the cup. (or saw dust if you can sweep it up) I save all my short scraps of wick and stick 2 in each one. I just find it easier than trying to get the paper pulled out and lit.
  9. a cheap, washable rug so your booth doesn't turn into a mud bath. A drop cloth, tarp or cheap shower curtain underneath will help. Good luck!
  10. I don't post as much as I did, but I still read often. This board is a treasure and I so appreciate all you do to keep it alive, Alan. Now, don't you have a newer picture of those adorable kids?
  11. 220v runs your dryer or electric stove...I have never seen a small appliance that is 220v. Where would you plug it in?
  12. I opened it with Microsoft Picture Manager. I would guess that it is a custom made silicone mold. It is really pretty.
  13. It's always fun to see what comes out of the mold! I like the blue...interesting texture.
  14. oh, yeah! I was looking for some inspiration...my wax is all cold. I need to warm it up and create. Love them all, thanks for sharing!
  15. how close to the edge does it burn? I really like the effect - nice glow.
  16. Wow! I like them all but the darker one on the left in picture 2 of the second set is my favorite. Great Job!
  17. Don't wick the molds - use wick pins. Then you can thread tabbed wicks through the hole after they are unmolded.
  18. yes, combustible is good - it means it will burn. I use dollar store potpourri, too, and it is only scented for about 5 minutes. I wouldn't worry about it. And definitely test them so you know what they will do!
  19. a second pour would definitely run down between the mold and candle and most likely would just peal off after unmolding. A remelt and repour is neccessary. I have never seen wax shrink that much no matter how cold it is in my basement. What kind of wax is it and did you add anything to it?
  20. Cheap idea to add height is to use a plastic bin upside down with a cloth napkin over it. A couple of Zip Loc containers of different depths with cloth napkins over them. It's probably too late to start now, but Michael's has small wooden crates. You can pick them up fairly cheaply with the 40% off coupons. They can double as a carrier and display for your melts. Do you have an odds & ends store like Big Lots or Christmas Tree Shop? Walk around and look at everything as if it is a potential display. I used to have a 2-tiered fruit stand. It would be great for holding melts (I used it for air fresheners). And, I hate to say it but the first thing I noticed was the wrinkled skirt. I'm weird like that.
  21. I make mine in cupcake liners with pine bedding, scrap wax, scrap wicks and a spinkle of dollar store pot pourri. I put 4 in a bag and sell for $1.50. Seriously, they are made from scrap and used to start a fire...$1.50 is plenty.
  22. I used to work for the largest sign company in the US. We made small clocks - 1000's at a time - and wanted to put NFL helmets on them to sell to bars. We couldn't afford the rights - the price would double and our profit would be zero. You can't convince me that a crafter has rights to sell sports logo stuff...
  23. I was at a small show today (did horrible, but so did everyone else) and I was appalled at the number of crafters who think nothing of breaking federal trademark laws. Disney princesses, NFL teams, local college teams - everywhere! I won't do business with those people no matter what they have. Is there a nice way to tell them why I won't patronize their booth? I really hate just ignoring the issue...
  24. oh, you'll learn something with every show! When I started I took pictures of every set up and kept notes on what sold so I was better prepared the next year. Some shows pillars fly off the shelves; at others it's just clamshells and air fresheners. Don't stress, just have fun.
  25. no worries with the oven - just don't put them in the freezer to cool quickly. :rolleyes2 food absorbs the FO in the freezer; it just burns off in the oven.
