  1. You can do the shrink wrap tubing and then use a heat sealer to seal both ends. Then you can hit it very quickly with a heat gun. It should look very professional. I used to do that with my tarts before I changed up everything.
  2. I love I used to use WSP's mist and then switched over to Vicky's stuff. It's great because it holds a ton of FO for the room spray and the scent lasts forever.
  3. Thank you for the advice! I looked into Libby Lu and Bath Junkie to see pricing too. Looks like $10-15 per child depending on the product.
  4. ....Long story short. I helped a friend in the neighborhood with her Girl Scouts craft (lava lip gloss, scrub and M&P soap). I now have had five people ask me if I do birthday parties. I'm considering it but what is a reasonable charge for something like this? Does anyone do such a thing and if so can you offer me any tips and pricing strategies? I have my own Candle/B&B business so I would carry everything in stock as far as supplies but I don't think I want to offer any of my own products for these parties. Any help or advice would greatly be appreciated! THANKS!
  5. Wellington and Jody's also carries it. I've tried both, they are the exact same.
  6. Checkout www.tuesdaymorning.com for their store locator. It's a great housewares store, lots of closeouts from department stores at bargain prices. They also carry toys, a small amt of furniture, clothing, etc. Their inventory turns over very quickly so you have to shop there on a regular basis.
  7. FYI......I was browsing at Tuesday Morning yesterday and found a Jenn-Air Attrezzi Stand Mixer for $65! They had several. It was originally $174.99, there was a 25% off sticker on it and till January 1st, an additional 50% is taken off at the register. It has all the attachments as the KitchenAid (dough hook, whip, beater), and has a tilt head. Granted, it's not as good as my KitchenAid stand mixer, but it's great as a second mixer. I've tried it and it whips my Shea fabuously!
  8. I love the rubber plugs and haven't had problems with them.
  9. You'll probably get a better throw with a blend of both. Start out by trying a 50/50 blend and then see how that goes. Just remember though, if the wax is too soft you'll have a hard time getting it out of the burner once it solidifies.
  10. I've been using plugs for 7 years now with a tape "just in case" no problems so far.
  11. How about Chocolate and Candy Cane (peppermint?) You can label it something like Hot Cocoa and Candy Canes?
  12. I've used the Harvest and Grandma's Kitchen in a 50/50 blend, 1 oz/lb. The Harvest does exceptionally well, and the Grandma's not as great but nonetheless it's still strong.
  13. Sweetcakes has a very true FO IMO. I tried several others and they didn't quite match the original.
  14. I have used their lab colors for lotions, sprays, shower gels, bath bombs, salts, M&P soaps but never CP soap. Why don't you call them, their staff is very well educated with their products (at least the ones I deal with- they are local to me) and if they don't know they will find out.
  15. I keep mine in a cool, dark area. So far no problems!
  16. They are pretty good candles, like you said great cold throw and the hot throw isn't too bad. But they tend to tunnel down. Before I started making candles and when I lived in Texas I purchased a TON of them much better than Yankee, Colonial etc... nicer presentation as far as the square glass etc, some very nice scents etc. (esp the Bird of Paradise, Orange Vanilla and their Peace). But they soot like mad!
  17. I was at the post office today and my friendly clerk told me about the new international flat rate shipping boxes perhaps they can use these to cut down on the shipping. I was told that each country has their own rate.
  18. I agree, NG is one of my most reliable suppliers. I've ordered from them for several years and haven't had one problem with customer service. I find their prices to be quite reasonable and their ship times are terrific, not to mention they don't skin ya on shipping like other suppliers I won't mention. I like their flip-top lids on the FO bottles, it makes it considerably easier when measuring out my FO. I esp like that I can see the status of my order, they usually have a 1-2 day turn around time. I use their oils in a soy/par blend and they throw quite well. True of their oils may not be dead-on dupes but some of truly terrific. Very true about never judging it OOB, I made that mistake when I first started out - my biggest mistake ever. :embarasse Good luck with your NG oils!
  19. I just saw a gallon jug of Demerara at the store, I believe it was from a nat'l manufacturer. I was very surprised to see it and the price was very reasonable. Next time I'm at the grocery store I'll get the name of the company.
  20. Oh, I'll have to remember that when I move to Texas where there is high humidity and heat!
  21. Thanks sooo much for the super quick reply! :D
