  1. NO! IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS COMBO! It will cause a bad reaction. It is a combo that will release a deadly gas fumes. Never use any type of metal with CP soaps other than stainless steel. . Please make sure it is 100% stainless. I had a link to a video that showed what happens when you mix them together and for the life of me I can not find it. I would not even use it if it was lined with something as the soap can leak through the liner. Use only silicone, wood, heavy cardboard boxes, Plastics, acrylic.. anything but metals.
  2. Very nice! I love the colors. The scent sounds very interesting.
  3. I would cut the Castor to 5% also, everytime I use it at a higher percent it is stickier than I like. I add sugar to most of my soaps also
  4. Here is the link for the FDA labeling laws. If you are listed in the phone book with your business name it can be omitted as per FDA. It is in the middle of the page but it had all label requirements. http://www.fda.gov/Cosmetics/CosmeticLabelingLabelClaims/CosmeticLabelingManual/ucm126438.htm
  5. That is Beautiful no matter which way it is cut! Love the colors.
  6. So far all I have heard back from is one place. Best price she can do if we order 5 gallons or more is about 39.75 a lb. http://www.uniquelyemu.com/emu-oil/Regular-Emu-Oil.htm
  7. I have sent out emails to 4 companies asking bulk pricing and shipping charges. I hopefully will hear from them tomorrow to see what prices we can get. If they are good prices, I will do a coop.
  8. From the research and my notes Shea is related to latex but mango is not. Latex is broken down by mango and should not be used with it.
  9. I do both, make a tea with it and also infuse my OO with it. I use about 2 large handfuls in each for a 4 lb batch. I do strain out the petals for both before I make the soap and sprinkle some dry petals on top. It does make a great soap.
  10. I use it at .7 ppo. It is strong! I haven't had a problem with it ash on it though. I have also blended it with sandalwood but that I only do .5 ppo
  11. I do the same as soycrazy and I love it. Oat Milk make made this way makes it creamy and great lather and the oats are not scratchy at all. I make a bastile with it. 85% OO, 5% pko, 5% babassu, 5% castor.
  12. I use it in cp all the time and love it. It does discolor to a creamy color even with td. No problems with it other wise.
  13. I can't keep Lavender in stock as well as patch! For summery scents lilac did not go at all. Coconut milk (peaks) did very well. Caribbean coconut did well also. Coconut Lime Verbena did well also Pina Colada no go. I just did one in Pineapple Jasmine (NG) had a few smell it and loved it. I am not a jasmine fan so to me it is just ok. Sandalwood Rose is a big hit . Amber and patch blend sold well but plain amber no go. Winter Candy Apple dup did very well all year Love Spell dup did great! Litsea and Rosemary EO did well also (Light on the Rosemary). Citrus and herbs did not do well Vanilla seems to sell well and I don't notice a change in the scent but I always blend it with sandalwood, lavender, blackberry. Another big seller is Vanilla Plum
  14. This is the best price I have found..1 gal. 350.00 free shipping. $2.74 an oz, $43.84 a lb. if my math is right. http://www.pure-emu-oil.com/emu-oil-pure-products.html
  15. Yes, I think Simon is taking some time off due to some health issues I believe I read some where. I wish He would come back! I love his Emu. I keep waiting because I need some.
  16. I noticed no difference either way. When I first started I did the same as you. It is great to test and experiment so you know what is going on and the feel! By the way You are doing a great job!! I wish you well in your soapmaking!
  17. I add all oils to my soapcalc. All you are doing is superfating, You can do the same thing by upping your lye discount and playing around with that. The lye will saponify what it wants so there is no way of knowing what is superfatted. Less chance of forgetting something also. I have how ever added a tble of castor oil ppo when there is none in the formula but added in the beginning.
  18. Beet juice will fade fast and morph. Beet powder is better but morphs also into any color between yellow to deep purple, depends on the recipe. There is a list of different colors that herbs and natural colorants produce. I disagree with some of the info based on testing so make sure you test thoroughly. I think a lot depends on your recipe and colors of oil you use. http://candleandsoap.about.com/od/soapmakingbasics/a/natcolors.htm This one is a little more accurate http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art50548.asp
  19. I got mine at Michaels. Maye yours is out of them?
  20. Here is the link to the site. This one is the best as once you buy it you own it, no yearly fees, the more you buy the cheaper they are, they come with a certificate and also you can resell them if you don't want them anymore. http://www.barcodestalk.com/
  21. You buy the barcodes, (I will look up the website for you when I get a chance) I bought mine from a coop done here. Once you get the barcode you assign them to a product. They store you wholesale at scans them and they can tell you what you need to replenish (as long as they have scanners). They (the wholesale customer) puts the number attached to the product into their data base so their scanner reads it. Each scent will need it's own barcode. I print them from my computer on labels and put them on the bottom of the box. Some incorporate them to there ingredient label. You can adjust the size to meet your needs as long as it can be picked up by the scanner. I do not have a scanner but I think you have to have a cash register to attach the scanner unless you find one compatible with you computer. I hope that helps to explain it a little.
  22. I sell them for 3.00 and some times I do a special 2 for 5.00
