  1. I would add 12.4. always go down for lye. Really it is better to have a scale that has 2 decimal places.
  2. With out seeing your recipe it is tough to say. Can you post it? Some things though are: Scale off? Lye bad? Too much water and cream? A lot of Olive oil? Soap temp too cool? Did you let it gel, that will help it along.
  3. Warts are due to being too wet. Is it damp and raining where you are? Never try to do them when it is, LOL I know all to well. Also if you are spritzing them, you might be using too much and making them "wart". It takes a while to get the feel of them and what works and doesn't. DO a search here for "bath bomb" and there are lots of good threads to help you out.
  4. Always heat and hold the water you are using. Boil more than you need, weigh what you need for phase one, leave the rest then add it if you need it. You want to make sure you are not adding any germs, bacteria etc.
  5. I do it full time with a store front. For 2 years prior to dec. I was working full time and the store was open evenings and weekends. Got laid off in Dec. and now I do it full time. Best thing that could have ever happened to me! I do have a SO to help support me though so I don't have to worry about household expenses. If I didn't have him I would have to work an outside job part time.
  6. The only way I know is to buy from a reputable supplier you trust.
  7. Are you using TD in the part you are coloring? That can cause it to be brittle if you are using too much. As far as the zap I agree if you are not geling than let it sit at least 3 or 4 days before testing for zap.
  8. Very Nice! I have been looking at the directions and I really want to make one. They look easy and fairly quick to make.
  9. Very nice! I love the bright colors. A Great way to use some scraps up.
  10. That teal is very nice! The chocolate coconut one looks like brownies! I like the greens in the last one!
  11. Beautiful! I love them. The scents sound great.
  12. Very nice, you are making me want a vertical!
  13. Thanks, I did get checked out about 2 hours after it happened and I was fine. I am very sore today but it could have been worse. I wore my crocs today and they are not slippery at all. I know I am not wearing my New Balance there any more. I need good shoes because of ankle and knee issues and sometimes the crocs bother my ankles but better than falling.
  14. We all know the basic rules.. wear gloves, goggles, long sleeves, etc. But I want to add one about wearing new shoes. Today I had on a new pair of sneakers and didn't realize they would be slippery when the floor was wet. I step away from the sink in the bathroom (the only sink in my shop) after cleaning up my soap dishes and went for a ride to the floor. On the way down I hit my head on the wall, my back hit the toilet from my shoulder down to my hip, bruise on my whole left side of my back. Hurt my right arm (don't know how) both ankles and knees hurt and neck. I woke up flat on the floor. I must have blacked out for a moment because I do not remember going on the floor. My old shoes were not slippery at all! I am ok but I am very sore. Please make sure you are very careful with what shoes you are wearing. Tomorrow a rug will go in the bathroom even if it gets ruined quickly, I will not go through that again!!
  15. I have a Buttermilk and honey FO that would be great for it. I have some I can spare, let me know if you want some. That is what I used in mine.
  16. I wish I could help you out but I don't have much to offer you except I am wondering if it is caused by some of his meds he is already taking. Have you checked to see if any of them have it as a side effect? Is it caused by oily skin or allergies or just teen skin? I know my granddaughter had this problem and it helped her to use a clay soap with goats milk in it but her problem was oily teen skin. If it is a side effect from the meds then I have no idea what would help. Hopefully someone would come along and help you better than I have. I wish you well in finding some help.
  17. Not sure about the salad shooter never tried it. I use my food processor. Make sure it is good and cold almost frozen before you do it or you will have a greasy mess.. I don't know how much muscle (grizzle) you have that can clog up the works. You can try it. You will be soaping in no time!
  18. Beautiful! Looks like it was a lot of work.
  19. They are beautiful! Love the blackberry sage.
  20. I make one. I make my regular lip balm and add the extra fine sugar to it. Don't add to much or it will be harsh. If the balm is too hot it does sink to the bottom so it has to be on put in after it cools a little but still can be poured in to a tube. Some does dissolve as you add it like it does in a scrub would but add only a little at a time until you get the amount you like in it. I only make 4 or 5 tubes at a time of it as it doesn't sell great but I have a few regulars who buy it. I do not add flavoring to it. I would start with 1/4 teaspoon to 1 oz of balm and see how you like it, if you will probably have to use more but it is a starting point for you.
  21. Very nice, I love the wire wrapped one. It must have taken forever too
  22. Sad but true it is all part of product development. It is expensive! I have spent thousands in developing my products. Testing and throwing out failures but when it is a hit it is a great feeling of accomplishment. I find that once you find the finished product, it works better if you stay with the same supplier.
  23. It would help if you posted the recipe you used and are not happy with. It will be easier to help you out. But if the soap is soft and dissolves quickly my first thoughts are, it is not cured long enough or too many soft oils. This link may help you with the iodine numbers and info you need to help you figure out a recipe you will like. http://www.millersoap.com/soapdesign.html
