  1. I'm about to place an order and I was hoping to get some opinions on JS Pine Forest. I need to get a pine/balsam scent. Anyone have a review? Thanks:)
  2. I've used it in a parasoy and I really liked it. I've gotten that FO from NG and WSP and I preferred WSP. - HTH
  3. I haven't gotten those from Taylored Concepts, but I've gotten the Metro jars from several other places and in my experience about 80% of the time the lids are pretty tight. Here and there I find a lid that's easy but mostly not. It sucks. Lately I've noticed on mine that when I do get the lid off, the plastic fitment part of it gets stuck in the rim of the jar and the glass part of the lid comes out. They're pretty though.
  4. I was wondering if anyone has tried FO's from Bear Labs- www.incenseoils.com that are really good. I got White Ginger and Amber a few months ago and I absolutly LOVE it. I would eventually order more but it's pretty far from me (shipping) and if I'm going to use them I'd like to get a few things at a time. Any suggestions?
  5. Then maybe keep it white and call it First Snow. Just a thought.......
  6. I'd probably go for a red or green to start with just to cover the holiday colors, but maybe a dark blue for the 'night'. ? I don't know that scent so that might be way off. A food scent might be weird in dark blue. I always feel like the color needs to match the scent, but that's my own quirk. Now I need to smell it......
  7. Definitly a creative way to handle it. I have to say though, as a consumer, I'd be very leary of anyone that tried to make me sign away my rights just to buy thier product. I would wonder what that candle is made of if the candle maker is that worried about a lawsuit. Having said that, I can see why you would explore this option. It's really scary to think what people will do with your candle in there homes, and to think that they would hold you -us- responsible! But I think the waiver would scare them before they even had chance to light the candle. JMO
  8. Not too long ago someone asked a similar question regarding no lids~one response was to just store the jars upside down. Seems too easy though, LOL. I don't see why that wouldn't work. They're set up, and they'd stay dust free.
  9. My 5 1/2 yr. old thought 'Monkey Farts' was the funniest thing he'd ever heard. He laughed and laughed over that name.:laugh2:It is funny but I think I'm a bit too prudish, I'd have to change it. But that's just me, some people get a kick out of it.
  10. I agree about the wraphia. But It's still a nice look as is. Very 'organic'.
  11. NG- Fresh Linen, Downy Clean Breeze Both of these are really nice, strong too.
  12. Don't feel bad. I don't really get the whole bear thing either. I've never actually even seen one. It seems like kind of an odd thing to do~dip a teddy bear in scented wax. But boy they must be popular with so much talk of them. If I thought I could sell them I suppose I'd try it too.
  13. Thanks everyone for the help. I'm off to the kitchen to give it another go. I've done the brown and the black, but today I'll try the orange and the yellow. I'm bound to hit it with one of these combos. I just have to remember to WRITE IT DOWN this time. Thanks again. Wish me luck
  14. Would that be for a concentrated dye? 8-10 drops per lb?
  15. I'm shooting for a true red. A nice, simple, no doubt about it, red. Today I added black and still couldn't shake the pink tint. Last time the black worked for me, but like I said I didn't write it down. On the other colors I only use like 2-3 drops per pound on average, depending on the color of course. How many drops per lb of the concentrated dye can you get away with? Maybe I'm just not using enough.
  16. Thanks, I haven't tried adding orange yet. I'll try that next. I'm hoping someone can tell me with this particular dye how many drops per pound is necessary. At one point I e-mailed NG and asked about this but I didn't get a reply. I feel like I just keep screwing up batch after batch. Each time I think I've got it, then it sets up and it's off just enough to pi$$ me off. ARGH!!!!!!!!!
  17. I know red is the color most talked about. I'm hoping someone who uses NG dyes can help me. I've tried and tried to get this right. I added a drop of brown, didn't work, and today I added black and I still didn't get it right. The last time I made a batch of red I got it spot on and wouldn't you know, I forgot to write it down. I think I just used a lot of red and added black but I can't seem to duplicate it. If anyone uses these dyes (very concentrated) and has the red figured out I would so appriciate the help. I'm really frustrated. BTW- I use j50/soy. Thanks!!!
  18. I'm thinking about switching to a 50/50 mix. I'll gladly take any advice you all would like to give. Currently I mix J50 and soy 75 to 25%. I've been using zinc wicks. They just seem to give the best burn for this mix, and if I hit it just right, not much soot at all. But I'd like to get away from the zinc when I move to the 50/50. I think I'll still mix my own with j50 and soy but I don't know which series of wicks would be a good starting point. I have many sample packs. Any thoughts?:rolleyes2
  19. I had a case that I ordered a few weeks ago and just yesterday I made a small batch. No problems. They look fine. I didn't noticed anything different at all. I guess maybe I should feel lucky about that.
  20. Could there be something going on with the wax? Are you working with a new batch?
  21. Wow, how frustrating. I'm not nearly as experienced as most on here, but I can say that I've used Joywax and I did not have a problem with a fuel smell. Well once, but that was the fo. Overall, it was really great to work with and I got a great HT with it. I used 6% fo with htp and zinc wicks and both worked well for me. There's always something though, isn't there? Hopefully someone can give you some suggestions. :undecided
  22. That looks nice. I found a lot of online restaurant suppliers carry tumblers that are inexpensive and would work really well, but there's still the issue of the right fit with the lid. When I asked for samples from Penn Wheeling they sent me 6 lids I think, but only in 2 sizes. So that wasn't much help. Another source for the lids would be nice. Just a nice metal cap type lid. Why is that so hard to find?:undecided
  23. Here's something interesting, Yes supply Co. wouldn't send me a sample tumbler, but they did send me a lid. The lids they sent me were made by Penn Wheeling. It was imprinted on the inside. I also got samples from Penn Wheeling but their minimum purchase was really high- can't remember exact #, but too high for me. And the sales guy that emailed me wasn't very helpful when I asked about fitting tumblers. Sounds like you are having a good experience with them. Did they get you a good lid for your tumbler?
  24. I also went my whole life with out a real 'hobby'. Turns out this candle making stuff is a perfect way to re-direct my OCD tendencies and do some thing productive and creative! Seriously! I never ever get bored with it.
