  1. lol nice..thanks for the heads up! I like how they but in there that they don't have a storefront yet so no local pick up. i used to go pick up my wax years ago from them when they were a decent business
  2. I think its a great idea, I know some troops that were over there and they are always in need of daily supplies and always welcome a package as they can get pretty down and depressed over there.
  3. I think I used a LX24 but cant remember since its been so long and yeah for me I used the wick pins and used the pre made wicks
  4. I am so jealous that you are so close to a wonerful supplier and good luck with your patience on the waiting process lol IwantItgreen are you in the middle of a blizzard watch lol I am in South Dakota too and brings me back to JEALOUS that becca is so close to a supplier...shipping kills me!
  5. what are the issues you are having? no HT, blowouts etc..also I know you said you are wanting to raw wick but have you considered a wick sample pack from peaks or candle science or somewhere so you can get the wick you like narrowed down before buying a spool of wick? I havent made pillars in awhile but thats what i did
  6. if you were looking at buying online from michales why not just but online from Peaks or candle science or any other candle place that sells things for candles and not a craft store, that would be your best route to take and then you can get sample packs of different sizes
  7. awesome info! I love it when useful older threads like this resurface
  8. maybe you have candle nose? When I make anything my husband can't smell it at all where the kids and I can. good luck , its not an easy or cheap hobby:laugh2:
  9. I used them quite a bit when I first got started cause they are about 2hrs away I was able to go and pick up wax to save on shipping, after the years the Customer service has gone down and the communication level is low. I have stopped buying from them because like others have said its a gamble, I can understand if there was a family emergency or something but this has been going on for years now and I dont understand how people like this can stay in business. Good luck to all of you that are using them, and I hope you get your order in full or money back if its something out of there control
  10. I love the PB clamshell pic it looks so soft and smooth, nice job. I just showed it to my hubby and said I must get more PB wax lol
  11. havent even looked at price in awhile, I live in a very small midwest town with no close suppliers so I always have to have it shipped and shipping is not cheap
  12. I haven't used the PB in awhile cause I ran out and the it was to spendy for me to play with, but I have to agree that I LOVE the throw of it. I can't remember what I used for a wick, I want to say and LX14 or LX16, but who knows thats been a few years
  13. I have 4 different scents going and one of the scents soaked up rather fast while 2 took a few days and the last is just now getting where its not oily, different scents mean different results, and yes I have 2 that are the yellowish color, the FO as its soaked in turns them yellow. Patience and keep shaking lol actually I sometimes forget about mine so they dont get shaken alot
  14. wonderful thread to follow, thank you!
  15. takes science and patience to some extent, I know I tried the advance and I know I had issues with it but cant remember what, just remember I didnt like it. Stick with one jar and one scent with one wick and test all the way down, taking notes along the way. then judge from there if you need to go up or down with your wick or up or down with the scent%. Its not easy with any wax you have to get the wax and the wick and the scent to all match the jar size also, that is where the patience and testing comes in at. Good luck and have fun
  16. lesson learned, glad nothing to major tho...FYI you should spread the word to scentsy (or not lol) since the party I went to they focused on safe they were since they are warmers and you can leave them on while gone etc, I was thinking ya okay, i dont even keep the coffee pot on
  17. how big is the jar and how long your burn test?
  18. I do that, every now and then tho I do let it run out so I can clean the bottom of the pot good and make sure no dust/particals are in there. I store it with the lid on after it cools
  19. The 12 step program lol..Hi my name and Teisha and I am a candle addict:p
  20. I went to my 1st scentsy "party" if thats what they wanted to call it the other night to see what the big deal is since I had never heard of them or seen their products, I was not impressed but thats just my opinion, way over priced and I can't even say I liked the scents they had, I had a hard time picking out anything to buy and test for me know what they are all about that I told my 12 year to pick one cause there was nothing there I liked. I don't know what yours are like but I am willing to bet they are way better then scentsy!
  21. I use the small clear "sample" size cups, put it in the scale and use the "tare" button before I add the scent

    tart/clamshell?

I agree candle making is not simple and alot of science as to what wick to the jar to amount of FO etc lol been doing that for awhile now so I thought I would tarts/clamshells. I know I still need to to test the wax to the FO on the warmer ect but sounds like I was making it harder then what it needs to be so thank you for your insight to my questions

    tart/clamshell?

Thank you Retro! I haven't bought any wax yet just researching before I purchase everything for it, it just sounds to easy so am scratching my head as to why I never did this before the whole wax and wick candle thing lol and want to make sure i am not over looking something since it seems simple

    tart/clamshell?

reading through all this wonderful info and want to make sure I am understanding things right. The clamshells are in a package unit that you pour right into and then once set shut the lid and keep as one unit then there are tarts that you can make in molds like mini cupcake looking tins similar looking that you pop out and then re package in what a basket or fancy bags? Is there a big price difference between the two for selling and profit? And last is the wax the same for a clamshell in a unit pack or a tart that you can pop out of a mold? I guess all the clamshell wax that I have been seeing/researching on this forum is like candlesource, CBL129, IGI4786 ect so could one use these types of waxes for the "pop out" tart? I feel like I am starting all over again lol haven't been here for a long time and am so greatful for the wealth of information that is here!
