  1. You got that right! $5 prices on jelly jars make would-be customers think your candles are no good.
  2. TCS doesn't carry a Sugared Spruce. Where did you get it?
  3. I bought some Cheez-Its the other day. The box said, "made with Cheddar Cheese." I'm pretty sure everybody knows there's more in the box besides a hunk of cheddar cheese. Yes, you can say your candles are made with soy. Made with doesn't mean there is nothing else in there.
  4. Based on the subject line, this isn't what I thought it was going to be.
  5. You can double wick, triple wick, quadruple wick any jar you want. If what you're doing isn't working, that would be the next step in testing. You will never get a good scent throw out of that kind of jar.
  6. Those are called wet spots. The solution is to pour cooler. No matter how many people tell you to warm your jars before pouring, don't waste your time.
  7. Oh, my, I had no idea that's what those were called. I made those in grade school. They are fun to make.
  8. I tend to agree with what some have alluded to. Too much of a good thing. My eyes are drawn to the busy leaves and the candles are secondary. I would assume you were selling fall garlands and merely used to candles to accentuate the fall colors of the leaves.
  9. Since every nose is different, your best bet would be to go to a store and smell for yourself. Your other choice would be to buy from suppliers who have dupes that are true.
  10. Why are you keeping this going when you're not even involved? You don't do business with them and probably never will. We got it!
  11. There's a sticky at the top of this section that lists supplier abbreviations. FYI for your future reference.
  12. Like everything else, you'll need to figure your cost and know your market. You do know how to do that, don't you?
  13. You should get a good digital scale and measure fo in grams. You don't need a heat gun. Oldtime chandlers never use them. Waste of money and oxygen. Save enough wax back so you can do repours. And you don't need to heat your jars. Waste of time and energy. Be sure you're using container wax.
  14. Like I said, this was covered right here on this forum a couple to three weeks ago. Maybe a simple "I can vouch for them" would suffice. So, too would a simple "anybody know about this company" have been a sufficient way to start the thread. WTF, followed by accusations of scamming seems an unusual way to start a thread from someone so new to the business/forum. It is impossible to make money without spending money on some form of advertising, be it a sample box, brochures/business cards, or craft show fees. Getting samples into the hands of buyers is legitimate and the concept has been around for many, many years. Think carefully before jumping the gun and accusing someone of scamming. At least do some research. I think that's all anyone is asking.
  15. These boxes from various sample box entities have been going out for a long time. They are definitely not a scam. This topic was covered on this forum recently. Tweek is new here. Too new to be pronouncing things she hasn't heard of to be scams. A little research goes a long way. Simply clicking on the website would have educated Tweek enough to have not started such a post. I'm sorry it happened because now those who participate in the boxes have to come to a lengthy defense.
  16. It sounds like you've got some work to do. A customer ordered something that is no longer available, so you sent her the remainder of her order and didn't bother to notify her than some items were out of stock? I would be very angry, too. You are shipping or refunding late, your inventory isn't up to date? You need to go back to the drawing board. Sorry, but from a customer viewpoint, that's how I would see it.
  17. This is a strange concept. Do you ask for or expect a discount when you gas up your car or when you buy bread? I find it odd that you would complain because someone you often buy from doesn't give you a discount.
  18. Any container (or even non-container) wax will work for wickless as long as your heating device has enough wattage to melt it. 4627 is not difficult to wick. Try the recommended CD or HTP.
  19. They are called Turk n' Surf and are made by Masterbuilt. Do a search. You'll find them. Look on Ebay. It's unlikely you'll find one for under $60, and even around that price, you'll get gouged for another $40 for shipping. They have an open heat element. A lot of chandlers use them. I wouldn't. But it's a much cheaper option than a so-called wax melter.
  20. What you're seeing is not rust. FO with high vanilla content will discolor the tins. Other than being unsightly, it doesn't affect the burn or throw.
  21. It's a huge liability issue. For that same reason, never let a customer come to your house. Don't let friends or family come to your house while you are making your products. Keep business separate from pleasure. Insurance 101.
  22. I'm wary of you having space at your own show. It reeks of bias. A professionally run show would never allow you time to man your own space. I would never return to a show where the promoter had the best space and spent time promoting her own products. I wouldn't go in the first place if I knew that fact ahead of time. As for paying, no pay, no space, no exceptions.
