  1. Everybody has their own favorite wax, and for varied reasons. Ordering samples is the best way to go. Don't be afraid to blend waxes. Sometimes, your favorite will come from just throwing stuff in a pot and experimenting.
  2. Considering all the no throw complaints, watery seeming, and comments about crap floating around in the fo, I have one word. WHY? With so many great suppliers, why would you subject yourself to something like that. With Just Scents, the price is always right. It is the most obvious example of getting what you pay for.
  3. You can order a catalog from Wicks Unlimited. The catalog covers many, many wicks. Each wick lists approximate yield, ROC, Flame height and mp. When it comes to choosing wicking, this catalog is invaluable.
  4. Adhesive tops wouldn't let the customer sniff the product. The WSP discs are 2-5/8". The inside dimen of a regular mouth sq mason is 2-3/8". WSP doesn't say if their dimen is the bit that fits inside or if it is the outside dimen. Out of curiosity I checked, and shipping on 144 from WSP to 5 states away is under $8. To use it as a capper would hinder airflow to the point of fizzling wicks. Regular mouth masons are hard enough to keep burning to the bottom without wicks sputtering because of lack of airflow. To answer the original question, the point of the lid is that someone will find the perfect application. Just because I might not have use for them doesn't mean someone else won't. The star cutout would have nothing to do with the flat lid sealing or not sealing. There are a lot of products I don't understand the point of, but I try not to let it bother me. I like them well enough that I might invent a reason to use them. They are not available until 2007 so I have several months to come up with something. I'm putting on my thinking cap. I'll let you know if I come up with anything useful.
  5. FO will never be better in wax. It can, and in the case of JS most likely will, be worse, but never better. Maybe different. But never better. OOB is meaningless. Many stout scents fade away when diluted. Many cold throws fade away when the wick is lit. OOB reviews simply mean it smells good. OOB has no bearing on performance. They all smell good to somebody, somewhere. Somewhat like a good looking man, performance is really all that matters.
  6. You hit the nail on the head. Reviews without details are worthless. OOB reviews are worse than worthless.
  7. Whewww, there for a moment, I thought I WAS on Lemming Central. Glad you cleared it up, Sparkie. There are many ways for us to get our products in the hands of potential buyers. This is just one of those ways. It's a bigger undertaking that I would care to handle.
  8. No matter what the product, you charge whatever your market can bear. If your customers can't pay enough for you to make a nice profit, you don't carry the item. Start high. You can always go down or offer discounts for multiple purchases.
  9. Didn't you ask this same question a week or so ago? You have had a business before. Surely you have an idea what sells and what doesn't. Nobody can possibly predict what will sell and what won't. You pay your money, you take your chance, just like every other business owner.
  10. Try wicking down again and burning past where the jar is the widest. The melt pool will reach the edges of the jar as the jar narrows. Jars of that shape can be very difficult to wick.
  11. Have you checked with prairie annie?
  12. Why do you say that? So many people recommend them. Did you have a bad experience? I have heard it's one of the more difficult ones. Was it too difficult for you? I'm looking around and I want easy peasy.
  13. The customer wants Calla Lily. Calla Lily and Casablanca Lily are two entirely different scents and flowers. Always give the customer what she wants, within reason of course.
  14. Just in case you missed it, one more time: unscented. :rolleyes2 Tennessee carries Calla Lily.
  15. The lower prices might be because it's inventory in stock. When the suppliers have to replenish their stock, they will go up in price accordingly.
  16. You're using 4627 for votives? That would be much too soft. 4627 often gives a ripple effect, but I've never heard of it blistering.
  17. You are dead wrong, sockmonkey. It is impossible for a vendor to fix a problem if they don't know about the problem. Never, ever complain publicly if you haven't let the problem be known privately. That's just good manners and common sense. If you do, you are nothing more than a whiner. Nobody on this forum was able to fix the problem, so why bother everybody with it? A complaint should only be voiced publicly if there is no resolution after going to the only person who could fix it. Weekends don't count. Vendors are human, too. Unless you're a me, me, me, instant gratification kind of person. Then I suppose going public first would be normal.
  18. No, but you did say it was b@@@ s@@@. It's probably always a good idea to first contact the supplier. Overcharges, floaties, no matter what the issue, contact the supplier first. Then if you don't get resolution, it's b@@@ s@@@.
  19. Nobody cares what Yankee does because their candles are crap and they don't throw. If that's what you are trying achieve, your 2 to 3 weeks of chandling should put you in good position to compete with them. Obviously, they don't spend any money on research. Just marketing. Looks like you're on the same track asking potential customers silly questions when you should be testing and determining your own needs when it comes to producing a quality product.
  20. Why would you want to get in on a sale if the scents don't throw for you? There are a lot of suppliers who have good sales. I would try a different suplier.
  21. If you mean Warm Orange Gingerbread from TCS, yes, you have to wick up. TC is Taylored Concepts. TCS is Tennessee Candle Supply.
  22. If there is an apology in there somewhere for calling me a rude, mean troll, and for making the strange assumption about me working for SC, and for accusing me of PRACTICALLY (You have even went (should be "gone") as far as practically calling some people stupid idiots, telling them their websites are crappy, they are false advertising, etc.) doing whatever you think I've done, well, I accept your apology. So let's be friends. OK? I'm also looking for Honey by Jo Malone. I'll let you know if I find it.
  23. All of my responses are logical and straight forward. I guess that makes me a rude, mean troll, lol.
  24. You people are spending more on baggies and rubber bands than the pipettes are worth. There's nothing wrong with being frugal. But there is also a limit. And don't forget that time is also money.
