  1. I usually just go with a pre-blended wax, maybe I'm scared or lazy. LOL šŸ˜
  2. Hi @kandlekrazy just wanted to add my 2 cents. I have been using Coconut 83 for a while and I have tried almost every wick on the planet with it. ECO, RRD CSN, CD all had soot issues either from the beginning or once the candle burned down in the jar, even if I trimmed the wick real short. Turns out, at least for me, the paper/cotton flat braid wicks such as HTP, Performa and Premier 700 series have performed the best. I am still in the testing phase, not all of my candles have burned down completely yet. Would love to hear what you end up using. http://www.theflamingcandle.com/premier-700-series-wicks/ http://www.atkinsandpearce.com/candle-solutions/product-pages/htp/ http://www.atkinsandpearce.com/candle-solutions/product-pages/performa/
  3. Hi @Alona I too have been making candles with Coconut 83. I have used the wax straight with 10% scent in a 3" container and have had really good results with Performa, Permier 700 series and HTP wicks. I believe those are all cotton/paper flat braid wicks. My only real issue is hit or miss with strong Cold and Hot scent throw, no matter what I do. Different scents, different scent percentages, lower or higher temps, etc. Those same scents are strong in another wax. What have you experienced? Would love to hear it.
  4. I have been using Coconut 83 straight and also blended with additives. I have also been using Ultra Wax by General Wax that is a coconut blend. I have not come up with a candle mix that I am satisfied with yet, still learning and testing. I also just recently ordered the IGI 6570 coconut paraffin wax blend to test. Will probably try another coconut soy blend or make my own. So far, I do really like the Coconut 83 but the biggest problem is that strong C&H scent throw is hit or miss, no matter what I do. Then on the opposite end is Ultra coconut Wax, I'm having issues with it making too soft of a candle (unless they just have to cure for several weeks) but the wax has strong C&H scent throw. Maybe I should mix the two and see what I get. šŸ˜Ž
  5. Wow, you are hustling, 5 cases. I need to work on my speed and time management. šŸ˜
  6. Hello. Just wanted to jump in since you all are talking about blending coconut and beeswax. It sounds nice but with my experience (albeit limited) the beeswax smell changes the intended fragrances too much for my liking. Or at least it did when I used the pre-blended Coconut and Beeswax mix from Candles and Supplies called SLAB COCONUT CONTAINER BLEND WAX. Maybe if I used a blend with less Beeswax I may like it better. It's something to consider. I'm really big on scents and I want them to smell true and not convoluted with the smell of beeswax. And yes, that Coconut Wax blend is suppose to contain beeswax unless the person that works there didn't know what they were talking about. I called them up and asked them what is the difference between the two coconut waxes. http://www.candlesandsupplies.net/5-lb.-SLAB-Coconut-Container-Blend-Wax?sc=7&category=333096 Just thought you might like to know this and have another option. Also, FYI, I called Accu-Blend Corp. that makes coconut waxes, particularly the Coconut 83 wax and the person said that Candles and Supplies, Northwood Candle Supply and California Candle Supply are all their distributors and carry their waxes. I was also told that the coconut blend with "hybrid" in the name contains paraffin. I'm only going by what I was told by people that work there so you hope that people are honest and know what they are selling. Hope this helps everyone. 90% coconut with 10% blend of soy & palm waxes (that seems questionable as hard as my candles turn out w/o additional additives) coconut, soy, palm blend http://www.accu-blend.com/HTML Files/all_nat_coconut.htm coconut, soy, palm blend http://calcandlesupply.com/coconut-83-wax-all-natural-coconut-wax/ coconut, soy, palm blend http://www.candlesandsupplies.net/Easy-Beads-Coconut-Container-Wax-Blend-per-10-lb.-bag?sc=7&category=333096 coconut, soy, palm blend https://www.northwoodcandlesupply.com/collections/candle-wax/products/coconut-candle-wax coconut beeswax blend (unless it's actually coconut & paraffin) http://www.candlesandsupplies.net/5-lb.-SLAB-Coconut-Container-Blend-Wax?sc=7&category=333096 coconut paraffin blend http://calcandlesupply.com/sc-21-wax-coconut-hybrid-blend/ coconut paraffin blend http://www.accu-blend.com/HTML Files/hybrid_coconut.htm
  7. Ok, thanks, that stuff is good to know. Cure time to harden, or to improve scent throw or both? And how long of a cure time?
  8. Hi @DoubleDee welcome. We are practically neighbors, I live in south Florida.
  9. This site is so fun & addictive, plus I'm a scent junkie, I'm out of control here... I really need to back away from my laptop and go make some new candles already. LOL! I was suppose to make some early this morning but that's an idea that has come & gone.
  10. Ok, It sounds great, can't wait to smell it.
  11. Hello ellajoan. I'm on it, order in progress. LOL
  12. I Moonstar. Sure, I will try to remember to update you all on what I thought of Bramble Berry's FOs. I'm excited.
  13. I reckon, those containers are wonderful, I'd like some too. LOL. They are probably expensive and only available on Alibaba all the way from China or something and in huge quantities, or Australia. But, I don't know. Sometimes things are not as expensive as you imagine. Good luck with your search.
  14. If anyone is interested, Bramble Berry is having a 25 % off sale on all fragrance sampler kits through tomorrow Aug. 23, 2018. I just ordered a soap cutter to use to chop up my wax slabs. And these fragrance oils that were mentioned in this post. Can't wait to test out their scents to see how strong they are. Cocoa Butter Cashmere Rustic Woods and Rum Hello Sweet Thang
  15. Awesome, I love crazy strong. I think I will order a few of the scents that people are raving about on here. I'm on Brambleberry's site now and wow! They have so much information, tutorials, fragrances oils, etc. I love their site and all they have to offer. I like their fragrance oil options and calculator https://www.brambleberry.com/Pages/Fragrance-Calculator.aspx
  16. Awesome, I love crazy strong. Sounds like I need to order some fragrance oils from them.
  17. Hello Scented. Just wanted to say I like your cat photo, it's cute and makes me chuckle. šŸ˜„
  18. Hello and welcome. I just recently joined too and I also live at the beach in Pompano Beach, FL. Which beach do you call home? Sounds like you and your wife have fun things going on in the scented world.
  19. So I'm curious. What does the candle look like after it has been burned? What do you mean it ruins the effect? Got any photos of it? This is interesting.
  20. Awesome!!!! You should be proud, That's a really neat looking candle. I love it. Now I want to try it. LOL.
  21. Cool, that's a neat effect with the wax, bet your granddaughter loved it, young girls usually love the color purple. Yes, on here, I have heard that tureen jars are hard to wick properly. So I guess you like the 6006 paraffin/soy wax? I have been wondering if I should try it, if it's easy to work with. Does it do as it clams: no additives needed, good jar adhesion, and great cold & hot scent throw?
  22. I like the black tins but I don't think I have ever seen them. I know what you mean, especially depending on your budget, candle container options are somewhat limited. Seems like things that I like are expensive, are overseas and/or in very large quantities. Seems like I have to settle for something reasonably priced and get creative with the lids and labeling. Hey I found some black tins. This shop on Amazon has some. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=bl_dp_s_web_0?ie=UTF8&search-alias=aps&field-keywords=Gipsi+House https://www.independentcan.com/seamless-candle-tins/ https://www.papermart.com/black-deep-round-tin-cans/id=46028?origin=BingShopping&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=shoppingfeed&utm_campaign=6511142&msclkid=923526a85fa819cd224d7dd4a4a6bde3
